I only paid £9 for my new expansion tank and it was a good buy as my coolant was about as "clear" as yours. Not an original but at least I can tell what level the coolant is at :) Came from AVS I think.

I won't take it the wrong way, but I'm hoping that as I know of no other driving experiencing I will take to this quite well. Of course I am expecting a few issues, so I will wait till I've driven it before I have any of the bodywork replaced :)

I should be alright, I remortgaged about three months ago :) 130k

I guess I'm quite lucky really, the car had been in regular use until a few weeks before I took ownership and engine-wise the only problem was a tendancy to run hot. The expansion tank was so discoloured that it was hard to tell whether it had any coolant in at all so that got replaced along with a leaky radiator hose and now she runs like a dream. Thanks to the suspension work she no longer tries to put you in a hedge so fingers crossed this should be quite straight forward ..

I found a great way to work out my paint code the other day, I asked my local dealer :) Rather than just manually work out what parts go with my car, as per the norm, they actually decided to look the car up on the computer. All sorts of useless information, including the day it left the factory, but it also included verification of it's last official VW service and the original paint code.

Purchased my first Corrado about a month ago now, in fact my first ever car. That's right, I'm a 27 year old non driver with a Corrado. Anyways, I'm learning now and this is my big incentive to finally get off my arse and pass. Thought I'd post a couple of pictures of what £700 will get you, and to be fair appart from some damage to the passenger wing the car isn't in bad shape. At this price I also had some reserve cash for making sure it runs OK. So far I've replaced the wheel bearings, the expansion tank, coolant hoses, power steering belt (no more squeaky steering at low speed!), spark plugs, suspenion drop pins (?), tie rods and filters. I think the money spent on repairs so far comes to about £300. 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCorrado1.jpg[/attachment:26ynewhu] Corrado2.jpg[/attachment:26ynewhu] If she drives as well as I've been told she does then I'll probably have that wing sorted once I'm actually behind the wheel.

Thanks - I've just ordered a hose kit and wanted to know what other hoses I'd need to have made up. I've ordered a single lenght to go from the expansion tank to the rad but the other hose from the tank has split and needs replacing as well. Either that or have I read things wrong and that hose comes in the kit ?

Does anyone know what components I need to buy to create a hose from the right of the head to the bottom of the expansion tank? I understsand that this is one of the hoses that doesn't come in the standard kits and many people have recommended making one out of straights and elbows but no one has listed the components they used - and would be very helpful!

I'm so glad you said that, after 10 years of using the green LHM type stuff in my 1990 16v I was a bit puzzled by the talk of red caps and red fluid :? Can I just add that my 90 1.8 has a red cap on the PAS tank and is clearly labeled ATF.

AVS sell PAS fluid for about £4.75. I only ordered some last week when I was buying a new expansion tank - arrived really quick as well.
