  1. Bled the clutch and adjusted the gera linkage (hopefully get 3rd back now). Very impressed with the gunson eezi-bleed!
  2. Idle issues point to the control valve sticking, aswell as the stalling If you want it vag-com'd I'm around saturday morning (live in bournemouth)
  3. Got Chuck Norris in mine, best anti theft device ever.
  4. Sounds about right. Mine will happily pull around town in 5th @ 30mph but you defo need to change down if you want any decent acceleration from there. Shame you didnt get it above 3k rpm (can understand why) as that is when the VR6 gets into its stride. Have you had a look on the corrado owners google map? Maybe someone local to you with a VR6 wouldnt mind taking you out for a spin.
  5. The bushes in the motor will be worn causing it to draw extra current. I had the same with mine and when it gets to that stage your best bet is to replace it.
  6. Had a dodgy alarm install in mine. Loads of poorly spliced wires which caused the c/l and e/l to stop work and melted other parts of the loom. Also loads of old speaker cable left in place which is no longer connected. Not to mention the stereo wiring which was shambolic at best. Also the coil pack had been "repaired" not with the epoxy trick but with.................electrical tape (same colour as plastic) placed strategically over the large patch of rust which had developed on it, obviously did enough to prevent a misfire during the test drive.
  7. Hope this gets resolved. E38 just isnt as good as this forum
  8. I think you may be able to get samcos slightly less than that. I only replaced one hose last time (head to heater matrix) and that cost £45 alone! The samco is an 8 hose set
  9. I costed it up recently and a full set of samco's came in cheaper than buying indivdually from gsf/ecp/vag
  10. Guy has also got a beige parcel shelf for £!00 which has been on there for weeks.
  11. Getting pulled 25 times does scream that you are doing something to draw attention to yourself. I`ve been driving modified cars for four years now (including at night ) and only been pulled once in that time
  12. Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. I`ve tried pushing on the same roundabout since in wet weather conditions and she held on fine. Might have been a small amount of diesal on the road.
  13. I believe you should stay in the car unless asked to get out, makes plod look down on you and therefore increases your level of humble. Do make sure you look at them though.
  14. Not really a chuftie, but got talking to an american chap in sainsburys car park the other day. Firstly got asked if had chopped the springs! Its running on coils but not overly low. He then proceeded to ask what it was like driving with less suspension than a cardboard box! The nerve of some people.
  15. Its a standard loom. Will double check tonight that everything is plugged in where it should be
  16. Fitted mine yesterday and the difference is astounding! I do have a slight problem that when i switch to sidelights main beam also comes on. I have disconnected the ballast in the passenger wing so its not that. Also with the switch in the sidelight position if i flash the full beam the drivers side light will flash then but turn off completely? With the switch to main beam the full beam can be turned on and off as normal Any ideas? I didnt want to start another loom thread so thought i would ask in here
  17. Ignore them, they arent used on UK spec models
  18. can i be the first to say "oooh errrr"
  19. Nope. only thing it could do if it was set to high would be to cause the throttle to sit open at idle. Are you sure its not the ISV whining, it is right next to that
  20. Its a damper to stop the throttle snapping shut when you lift of. They do get tired and become less effective and i dont think replacements are too expensive
  21. I`m gonna have a good look at the tarmac on my way home tonight. Still sure i`ve gone round it quicker in the wet and not gone sideways, so I`m sticking with diesel.
  22. I thought diesel aswell as it didnt let go as i turned in, it went half way through the turn without any change to the steering input. I`ve been trying to provoke it since and getting now joy. Not the scariest one I`ve had, that was on a country lane in a mk2 polo breadvan. Had to swerve into a massive mud puddle to avoid a landrover coming the other way only to end up sliding sideways through the mud. Somehow managed to get the car back on to some tarmac only for the opposite lock i had on bite hard on the tarmac and fling the back end the other way. More opposite lock the other way and lots of throttle saw me straighten up nicely. Still no idea to this day how i managed it, must be instinct
  23. On my way home from work the back end of my c decided it wanted to a different way to where i had it pointed, whilst going round a roundabout. Bit of oppo and dab of the accelerator saw me straighten up nicely, but i was quite sideways at one point. The strange thing is though i wasnt going at all fast enough to provoke it (although it was wet) and the slide was very much in slo-mo and easy to control. It's the same roundabout I go round everyday and have gone round much quicker in similar conditions, so i`m a little baffled as to what caused it. Since getting home (very slowly) I have checked the tyres on the rear and they both have sufficient tread left on them before the wear indicator. I`m thinking that something slippery was on the roundabout and its nothing to do with me or the c. Just looking for some reassurance really. And some tales of your similar instances.
