Unless the car has very low miles thats far too high a price to pay for it imo - closer to a grand or £1100 would be more accurate. I'd suggest that for £1700 you should be able to find a very tidy valver around a '93 k / l plate. Have a look at a few more to decide for yourself tho.

Little bit of a warning for anybody looking to buy this rado
rodenal replied to rodenal's topic in General Car Chat
To be fair one of the times it was up on here was me, i only got rid because i didn't have the time to sort it out with winter coming in and it being the only car i was running i couldn't really take it off the road to sort it out properly. I had bought it knowing most of the stuff which had to be sorted with it and spent a bit of time doing some of the bits and pieces, its a shame nobody else can do the same. With a bit of work it would be a good car again, i just annoyed when i see people trying to pass it off as something its not. Particularly the service history, it's done nearly 160k, who the hell cares if it's got a full history or not so why bother faking one?? Right enough the guy who's selling it now if he has indeed taken it as part exchange might not know everythign needing doing to it. The sunroof thing is very odd, i seen that ad too but the sunroof had never ever leaked, it was just getting slow to close - i suspect it's been bodged, totally broken then sealed to hide it. -
As per the above This corrado http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-16V-fsh-not-g60-vr6-no-reserve_W0QQitemZ280292959990QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item280292959990&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 used to be mine, i got rid of it about 3 / 4 months ago and there were a few problems with it. It seems to have since changed hands at least two maybe 3 times which is a shame as it needs a bit of money spent and some general tlc. One particular point, which to be fair it might have been fixed is that the water flange on the front of the head had been bodged at some point and the screw bore buggered up - this means the flange that's on it leaks now and it needs helicoiled or repaired with the head off. the springs and dampers are well past their best and are also rock hard, and there is an issue with the blowers. Also the history has been faked by somebody who has had it since me - from memory it was up to about 120k, had been serviced at home since then. now its magically got full history. I didn't pay alot of money for the car (£700 iirc) and just dont want anybody to get ripped off. It could be a good car again with some effort and a little bit of expense but i just dont think this guy is being honest about the car.

Free Grolsch pint glass Enter online at www.grolsch.co.uk/glass - where you'll need the code GR50004 (and I found the packs at Tesco if you want to play safe and put them down as the store of purchase when prompted). The first 80,000 applications receive a free Grolsch 'Dutch' glass.

Purple VR6 on Ebay - Can anyone on here offer help?
rodenal replied to Pete's topic in General Car Chat
Sorry but that's silly money for a corrado offer him about £4k for it, think about the cars you can buy for 6 grand these days - nothing is selling for examplke you can pick up a very nice early S3 or TT for that kind of money, remap and you're on 260bhp Could get a mint E36 M3 for less than that car too, could probably almost pick up an elise for just over 6.5k too -
I'd maybe sell you mine for a grand lol....
-
Definately walk away, sounds like much more hassle than it's worth - if it's really hard to start from cold and is backfiring it doesn't sound right at all - my car was £800 and is almost identical to this one lol same miles etc - abs light is on (or would be if it wasnt pulled) and it turns for a few seconds when cold - but i mean literally a few seconds 3/4 at most, if it was really struggling to start and backfiring till it warmed up i'd bin it. Don't believe for a second that these faults have just developed either
-
Welll if everything turns out ok and you get ther car AND you have plans to chuck the engine...... i'll buy the exhaust off you lol
-
Not sure where you can get it have you tried the bay? On a side note, get that thing in the bin it's abotu as useful as those 'power resistors'
-
I know i've had a look for them online, i'll probably just get a GSF pump to be honest, used them before on different cars and been fine. Assuming water pump is knackered I'm thinking i'll do pump and seal plus stat and housing whilst i'm at it. Not sure whether to do the cambelt or not, it was changed late 2006 and should really be fine still
-
Yeah secretly im hoping it's just a hose down there or the stat but i'm fairly sure it's the pump thats knackered - ah well at least i'll not have to worry bout it from then on if i need to replace it lol
-
Replaced flange at the front of the head, took a while to get it sorted so it wasnt leaking, finally done tonight - and i think my water pump has possibly given up, water straming from the bottom of the car. :( Couldnt get underneath the car to have a proper check so will do this tomorrow, anything i can do to 'test' the pump?

What a bloody nightmare this has become Changed pipe and gasket (what an incredibly inaccessible space it's in) and put gasket seal on, tightened eveythign back up and low and behold after half an hour of driving water has started pishing out the top bolt of the Y pipe. Quite annoyed about this as it was seated and sealed fine - i'm wondering if i've maybe used the wrong kind of gasket seal? Just used a blue non hardening one, it's supposed to be fine with water tho so i'm a little confused

Oil filter tool might be worth a try i've got one somewhere, i can see there being problems after getting the first banjo bolt off. Better get a bigger bar lol
-
Good call, although there was that incident with the monkey...... ok this isn't helping lol, i'm a bit stumped as to how i'm gonna get this off without wrecking anything, i'm gonna wait till the weekend and have another crack - but logic will give way to sheer brute force at some point and it'll end in tears no doubt.
-
lol, no i have an irrational fear of midgets. Infact it's not irrational they're just dam scary lookin!
-
Yeah it's a nightmare, an extra pair of hands would probably help but it'd be hard to get somebody under the car to get a good grip of the other side.
-
Right, decided to change the fuel filter on my 16v tonight It's been done before (but a long time ago by the looks of it) and is now held on only by cable ties, so the filter itself is dead easy to get down. BUT can i get the bolts off, can i hell. The problem is i cant get any real leverage on them as the filter is obviously still attached to the car and there's nothing to secure it to to give me some push, if that makes any sense. Tried spraying some wd40 on and leaving for a while but hasnt helped any tips?

Lol! nah crap blowers need not apply for that position Biters equally unwelcome
-
Fairly sure it's not the controls as the fan speeds up but no more air comes out - a blockage sounds like a possibility, although i had a look at the scuttle panel already(albeit in not great light and i only spetn a couple of mins doing so) - but i'll check again in the first instance i think
-
Nup no matter where i move the dial i dont seem to get loads of air at all - the only place i'd say there is any sort of difference between 1 and 4 is the windscreen, but even that isn't exactly what i'd call a big difference
-
Had my 16v for a few weeks now and slowly getting round to a few little problems with it. One of which is that no matter what speed i select for the blowers not alot of air seems to come out of the dash vents(fan works fine tho i can hear it trying harder as i go from 1-4). I've checked the top vent for the windscreen and it seems ok. Are the blowers just really weak and crap or should i be looking for a fix? I've considered taking the radio out to have a look at the back of the blowers to make sure the panel that moves is ok but not keen to start stripping the interior without reason
-
Don't wanna scare you but have you had a look at the timing belt?
-
Ok so i've phoned vw for part numbers and a little confusion has arisen. The pipe which i assumed was coming from the thermostat apparently isnt - i'm talking about the pipe that comes off the front of the head, into a little Y piece, which then goes to the top rad hose and then down to what must be the water pump. I jsut assumed the thermostat was in behind this pipe, but according to the guy at VW the stat is showing as sitting just infront of the water pump, is this correct? It doesnt matter to me either way but i was gonna replace the thermostat as well as the Y pipe and gasket whilst i was taking bits off anyway, but if it doesnt sit in there i guess i'll not bother! If anybody has ETKA it'd be a massive help if they could check these part no's for me (I couldnt find them on Vagcat) 027121139A (Gasket) 027121133E (Y pipe) 1H0819019 (Gasket at right hand side of head, pipe goes to heater matrix)
