the mrs got pulled over and done for 2 sub legal tyres. when she got home i had a look and there was still JUST enough tread (which we got a local tyre garage to agree with). she went back and contested and got the points revoked....so it is well worth it.

lumpy running when cold problem solved at last!!! ...its only been 8 months!!! turned out to be a dodgy coil pack. brilliant
-
That was me    Its actually moonlight blue not black. I work at Rolls-Royce in the top left hand corner of the estate. Ian im right down the bottom end at Core 27 in amongst the eon buildings. might call on you for a bit of spot the difference if something else decides to fall off my car / come unplugged again :) might see me about in my blackberry VR...doing 0.5 MPH over speed humps!

Thats part of the air intake isnt it? and i used the induction kit and piping from the seized engine and that ran fine.....until it stopped for good. could do with checking it with another one ideally before forking out the 60 odd quid for a new one...just dont know anyone with a VR that is local. suppose i could try one and take it back if there is no change...will my local car parts place do this? supose i might get away with it with slight embelishment of the truth. once it gets up to 80 degrees oil temp then its fine but up until then if i give it too much pedal under load then it misses, pops and judders - overfueling? will keep changing bits to narrow the options.

running lumpy when cold - it did this in the previous car when i had it and despite only swapping the engine and gearbox (and non of the air bits) it still does it. Am going to swap the coil pack in the next few weeks, maybe the leads - have already changed the blue sensor which made little/no difference and have swapped cold idle valve.....runs really badly with the lambda plugged in as well so just run it without (as soon as it passed its emissions) .... not too high on the list of problems tho as ive got a collapsed wishbone bush, wheel cambers that just look faaaaaar too aggressive despite just having them done and wheel bearing noises coming from god knows where. still all worth it when the sun shines tho eh! cheers for you interest any way...usually have to keep all these expensive issues a secret from the other half

brief update - never did get to the bottom of the 'mystery seizure'. have got a new engine in the car and even tho there are a few issues its getting me to work every day which is all i can ask. have got the old engine to take apart at my leisure so might find something out if its pretty obvious like a wheel bolt stuck in there  with all the other things that have needed doing i'll soon have a completely new car.......................

if the matrix went is it just the car slowly drying out now that youre running it and its getting warmed through? just am aware of how long it can take sound deadening and the like to fully dry out. hope so

yesterday - black vr reg number WPE? on sherwood industrial park, notts. anyone on here?

hi, just been following the instructions as shown in the picture above to try and solve the no reversing light problem. i've located the area that the rectangular plug appears to plug into but on the black plastic cylindrical unit there is only a circular connector hole. is there a part missing inbetween the plug and the unit? it suggests in the picture that there may be? cheers, Max

okay, thanks for the advice. If its possibly worth more seperate i suppose it wont do any harm to dismantle it....plus it will be good fun...and you never know, i might learn something. Cheers...over and out. Max
-
might just weigh it in in that case - other than the coil pack and leads do you think there is anything else that is worth removing? thanks
-
Hi, I have a seized VR6 engine - about 85K on the clock - that was removed from my car. The cause and actual problem is undiagnosed and its far above my knowledge to investigate further. Didnt know if there would be any interest in this or how much it would be worth. Ive removed the coil pack and HT leads but everything else it there. Cheers, Max

Cant wait to see what these look like on.............how much was the powder coating?
-
yeah, no problem mate - i've got a spare set of relays so you're welcome to try them and borrow one til you can get a new one sorted. is your vr your daily drive? if so i can always pop them down to you. drop me a text or give us a ring and we'll sort something out. max
-
do corrado's have a fuel pump relay? this once went on a scirocco i had.....but like i said....im no mechanic :) might have one for you to try if this could be the problem.
-
saw two on sunday - one red one in clay cross (vague enough?) and a dark VR heading towards clay cross from the M1......unheard of round here  ...but suppose it has been sunny! both shinier than mine and probably running better too

i've got a set in my shed gathering dust that came with adaptors and yes, they are fairly weighty when compared to speedies but dont seem to be much worse than your average 17 tbh. just as a side note...how much would a set of 4 be worth considering they need a fairly big refurb on the lips? dont know how rare they are nowadays and might be tring to get rid. cheers
-
I can totally sympathise with you - i too have felt the pain of constant car trouble over the past 6 months, with an engine swap being the largest outlay :brickwall: and yes, today is no exception. i've spent more time borrowing my mothers car than i have been in mine....it sucks. hoping for a trouble free summer to make it all worth while. today is front wheel bearings and shocks, tomorrow is camber adjustment, then its time to auction off some organs on ebay......cant help you decide either way as i have often considered getting rid also. good luck tho regardless and cheers for the thread.

will a dodgy coil pack work better/apparently perfectly once the engine is up to temperature? trying to eliminate this from my lumpy running checklist. Thanks, Max
-
Unsure which problem this is, here are the symptoms. PlsHelp

I am experiencing similar problems to this but had previously put it down to having fast cams fitted and the cold weather? mine has been bored out to 3 ltr also whether this is of any signigicance? Once up to temperature it runs fine but before that, lumpy is an understatement and i cant remember it being this bad this time last year. Was planning on changing the water temperature sensor? then the leads and coilpack (have tried changing the idle control valve but this made little/no diff).....and mine runs much better with the lambda unplugged!?! -
thanks...its a good starting point and kind of what i was thinking.

Hi Folks, I am in the process of breaking a VR6 that i have been using for donor parts. I have had people say they are interested in the Shell and the seazed engine but im not sure how much either of these would be worth? It will be nice to try and re-coop some cost as its been a VERY expensive month! Thanks
-
Did you have any luck in tracking down the best buy? im needing a timing chain set with tensioners within a week/10 days. Thanks
-
...............we're not talking about that :) Have been going there for years and they're good guys so the benefit of the doubt is with them.
