had a go at it today an its done my fookin head in. took the head liner off, undid the motor, got the rails out and fixed the problem. put it back in and relised i hadnt aligned everything properly i.e. motor with mechanism. took the motor out and span it all the way back, pushed the mechanism all the way back, put the motor back in and tried it going forward, it went forward but then stopped and wouldnt go any further forward. i then messed about with it a bit taking the motor out and in and realigning the mechanisms etc.. got the exterior painted panel on and sitting flush but it wont go up as far as it think it should nor go back as it seems to be goign up and down lopsided. so have closed and will never open it again! HaHa anyone got a procedure for where the mechanism should start and where the motor should start...~? and i may have a go at it again, unless i have put an axe through it before that.

haha cheers jono those links i sent are crap taking ages to upload so have used a new site :D old g60 engine http://www.toofiles.com/en/oip/audios/wav/oldg60.html new g60 theres a bit of confusion on this one as on the way through monmouth we had a nice brap braap braaap up the tunnels, however on the way back it went into a controflow which was okay but i had to hold a heap of cars up behind to get a nice run up  enjoi http://www.toofiles.com/en/oip/audios/wav/newg60.html

I have since completed some extensive body mods to the c and heres the pick of her now!

dont have any pics of the parts i used nor of the engine in as ive just been enjoyin it too much to be bothered. But heres a before and after sound vid, going through the monmouth tunnels, Now i know you wont be able to judge the speed of it that well, but it may seem slower than it really is as my 19 stone mate was in the car on both trips (going to get beered up!) but i suppose it will be accurate because i dont think he will have lost any weight as the engine swap only took 5 days! old g60 engine http://www.flurl.com/video/44463011_new_g60_engine.htm new g60 engine http://www.flurl.com/video/44463011_new_g60_engine.htm

Thanks guys, i was hoping i wouldnt have to take the whole headlining out but it looks like im going to have to :mad2: ah well. Ive got the piece i need i think, found it deep in a box of bits which is ideal! glad its only a few screws though and it'll give me chance to check the sunroof drain points so all is not lost. Il let you know how i get on but if anyone has just had enough of their sunroof, i found a thread describing how to but a passat monoroof in, heres the link, http://corrado-club.com/faq/detail_faq.CFM?FAQID=144

thought of something! think with cash permitting, im going to site the cooler behind the no.plate, get a mk1 golf holder to put the no. plate by the air vents (below where it is now) and get the plate recess flushed, then il drill holes into the bumper, a bit like having the grill piece inplace and it'll hopefully look a bit better then a grill once painted  anyone else ever done this? or would know the process of getting this done is very welcome to comment.
-
Good options mate, have to mull it over, (pm sent back). I just fancied somewher a bit differnet for the cooler or any ideas of doing it differently...like how mr lamin-X (sorry dont know his name) has the cut out no.plate with balck mesh and number plate numbers sprayed on white to the mesh, but its a black car and think it would look w*nk on mine.

Any one? if i dont get this fixed pronto il end up rippin the sunroof off at high speeds or turning the car into a mobile swimming pool, how do you get the runners for the sunroof off, to replace the slidy mechanism which pushes the arm up and down??? please

Its nice to know some figures! I definely want around the 250/60 mark, its quick and the acceleration is unreal, love it! how was the live remap and where do you go JMC? also what sort of price would i expect to pay? ive heard of sns doing custom chips for a few hundred quid, would you say this would be more beneficial or the live remap option? I want to keep the car as standardish looking as possible. Hate the cutout number plate look, a bit cheap imo. So it looks like it'll have to be through the air vents below the numberplat recess, unless anyone else has got any crazy ideas of where to put it.....

Cheers mate, if i hadnt of seen your add i possibly wouldnt have bought one  right i have got the engine and gear box of me dreams in and running. Still got the intercooler to fit and tuning to get done. I have bought a high flow cossie intercooler with custom outlets. its pretty small being around 40cm long but deep, sadly it wont fit between the headlights as its too long :( where do you guys usually stick them? and where would you go to get it tuned? would you suggest a new map too, its already got an sns chip in her?

the problem still hasn't fixed itself. i have unhooked the headlining under the sunroof and unscrewed the four star bolts holding the metal exterior sunroof panel out so the panel can come out. my problem is that the alloy metal mechanism with the arm, which slides back and forth (raising or closing the sunroof) has snapped off in the gutter/rail, the part which has snapped is the only part which moves back and forth now (leaving the rest of the mechanism behind. does any one know how i can get one side of the metal railing off to get the mechanism out so i can replace it? does it have anything to do with the plastic box which sits on top of the railing above the sunroof button? please help as it sounds like its going to be ripped off over 80...

1 going over the llanellin bridge round 3pm 19.01.10 think its number plate was g8880 or someting

i found it at the bottom of a box of parts i had, result! think that part may be obsolete from vw now but am not sure of this. looks like it may be the scrap yard for any one else that has this problem!
-
cheers mate i think i pretty much sorted it. the panel your on about- i didnt know it came off. i literally pushed the inner lining panel up, then backwards unhooking it. this gives alot more visability to identify the problem and fix it. i found that one of the arms that makes it tilt and go back etc. was broken, the one attached to the cable. so i got a new one and will pop that on and feed the new cable through the motor. also didnt know that they should be greased heavily with white or lithium grease once every 3 months or so to keep them working. please note also that the head lining should be reattached unless you want a little shower while driving! i poked a thin metal rod down the drainage channels, which may or may not sort my damp carpet....

i know there are lots but cant find a soloution to fix this problem. the sunroof tilts up fine, but when i go to close it in the normal position the drivers side slots in nicely with a tight seal, however the rear passanger side of the sunroof stays 3mm higher than the rest of the sunroof (3mm worth of gap where i can see the interior). when i press the button to fully slide the sunroof back the same side stays high and hits the roof, so it wont even slide back. any ideas on how i can amend this problem are greatfully recieved as the weather is setting in one us yet again! one other thing is the front passenger footwell has the carpet getting sodden, maybe due to the sunroof....please help!

a tad! shift it into first bud  dunno if you can upload sound clips on here but i got before and after ones of the engine

that site is top notch, my mate has a cnc machine and some programs, any idea what material is used in alloys, aluminium, custom alloy, magnesium??? and what sort of prices they would be to make a 16" face?
-
does anyone know what grade of alloy is used for most alloy wheels? if there is a standards agency in britain for producing a set? and any sites which maybe helpful for producing one off custom alloy wheels, i.e. places to buy the alloy etc.
