  10. you are an absolute life saver thanku so much!
  11. any body know what they are looking all over the web just putting the new crank back in! lol HELP!!!
  12. well on the "when it starts" question i dont know lol i haven started it! i bought it on the word that it runs well with no bad sounds! from looking at it, everything looks well and good! its good to hear that you had to have your valve guides replaced at 100k sounds like its kinda normal from what ive been reading il let you know how it goes! oh does it sound like a fair price £105 for skim and 8 vavle guides put in? cheers guys!
  13. hi guys just a quick question, valves guides? how hard are they to be replaced do they really need to be pressed out then the new ones frozen and put in and for them to be machined to fit perfectly? iv sent my head off to be checked and for a skim but the guy is telling me the exhaust valve guides are shot? i dont know weather to trust him! and he wants £20 per cylinder! cheers any input most welcome!
  14. finally i have got down to write up a bit about what ive done, firstly i bought my corrado back in the summer a lovely change from my first car a 306 :gag: , its a 95 2.0 8v 98k on the clock. so far the only mods iv done are to lower it on coilies and do a boot build and a cheap after market stainless exhaust with decat! jsut before christmas me and a friend of mine started thinking about how to gain a lil more power, one idea led to another, till one day we decided to go for it and i bought an ABF to go in!stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfS1032034.JPG[/attachment:27mdujw7] first thing was to source all new parts for the rebuild whilst on a budget, not easy! went to vw and oh my gosh the prices!!!! cam followers £25 each and when u need 16 that adds up lol i have now found the best place in the world to by any VAG parts, speak to andrew at vw spares he is an absolute star http://www.vwspares.co.uk i managed to get the cam followers for about a fiver each :D this is the shopping list so far full head gasket set cam followers valve guides oil filter thermostat camshaft oil seal big end seal little end seal intermediate seal timing belt tensioner cam chain oil pan gasket new oil pump (not cheap) £146 from vw but from andrew £80  engine bay wiring loom impulse sensor (mine was shot) :( MAP sensor (it dont exist on 8vs) ABF ECU from a seat and also a very very clever bit of kit from latvia, a immobiliser emmulator.il reveal all later (it arrived today  wasnt sure if it would) loads of other bits but cant remember rite now! when it came to start stripping the engine i realised that an engine stand was deffinatly a good idea! lol so bought one of thoseCorrado92.pdfS1032040.JPG[/attachment:27mdujw7] just to apologise if some of this is really obvious, its my first rebuild ever lol slowly stripped the engine making sure i knew where everything is meant to go labeling franticly! passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfS1032050.JPG[/attachment:27mdujw7] with the inlet manifold off i got my first glance into the engineclimatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfS1032055.JPG[/attachment:27mdujw7] so far so good no bad signs, so next comes off all the pipes water pump and rocker cover2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfS1032061.JPG[/attachment:27mdujw7] at a closer inspection everything seems to be happy! hardly any wear on the cams, no dirt either, or large worrying chunks of metal which is always good :grin:S1032062.JPG[/attachment:27mdujw7] so that was pretty much end of day 1 on the rebuild, me and my mate dont get a lot of time to work on this, we both work full time and have demanding missuses lol luckily we both work at the same place so every other sentance can be about the project! altho im not so sure my manager aproves anymore after spending half the day on the phone at work ordering parts  i got so much more to write but need sleep lol so i will deffinatly try and post more up tomorrow! thanks for reading :) any input would be great! oh and if anybody has a 16v exhaust manifold for sale let me know :)
  15. hi im pretty sure you might have a problem with your idle valve, same happened to me. i took the idle valve out and gave it a good clean with carb cleaner! the other thing is to take it out and leave it to soak in petrol iv heard! otherwise you can adjust your idle from your ECU i believe somebody correct me if im wrong! not sure how you would go about it though. hope this is some help :)
  16. thanks 4 the help, yer i believe it does have the toothed wheel, and the sensor! i have bought an ECU for an ABF only problem is i think its meant to have an immo, and i dont have an immo! and it sounds like its almost impossible to get an immo ECU to work on a non immo car! the hardware from the two ECUs are the same which is why i was wondering if its just the info on it, and weather it could be changed?
  17. hi there im doin an ABF conversion on my 8v rado, iv come across a slight stumbling block! ECUs! does any one know if the 8v ECU will work for the ABF engine? they both have the same part numbers (the ECU for the 2E and the ABF) i was thinking maybe it might possibly just need a remap to get it to perform better on the ABF? any ideas cheers oh the other possiblity is could i just take an ECU dump from an ABF ECU and use it on the 2E ECU?
  18. dude respect, i thought i was one of the youngest on here with a rado when i joined at 18 lol clearly not lol awsome work, im doing an 8v 95 rado to 16v ABF at the mo i might have to come ask you for some pointers lol keep up the good work and lovin the carbon black, almost like the midnight blue LC5M colour very nice.
  19. thanks for the help guys, vag com is all clear. lambda sensor should be ok because i took it off before roving exaust! but i will check it i have a spare one from the decat pipe! im not sure weather it is the lambda cos ther is no black smoke at all and fuel eco seams to be fine!another thought im not sure when she last had an oil change could fuel in the oil make such a bad failure? i dunno, i jst heard on another post fuel in the oil makes bad Co readings.
  20. i did exactly the same thing in my 2.0 8v went through a rather large puddle was fine for 10secs then started to loose all power and kept stalling after aout 10 attempts it coughed and splattered and after a good thrashing it cleared but kept choking now and then but after a day or two was fine! maybe if you can get it to sit a 2000 revs n jst leave it goin 4 as long as u can might be enough to clear the bit of water out in the system if that is what it is? no doubt youve already tried that! anyway best of luck to you : :salute:
  21. hi there help needed, lol i have a 95 rado 2.0 8v had mot today and faild badly on emmisions COs was running near on 4%, i only bought the car 7 months back, all i have done since then is induction kit and stainless exhaust now with cat back on for mot! i really dont know what could be the cause! one thing i was wondering now i have induction rather than air box, it is right to seal off the vacum hoses? ive also heard about an ECU reset whats the best way to do it, and could that be a possible cause? ive convinced the mot guy to do a none cat test but still it runs too high even at idle. what can i do short of bribing him wit a big wod of cash lol any help will be much appreciated :) cheers in advance james
