Ill back Grim up with his post. For the repairs im getting done i was quoted up to £1000 from garages near to me and Star are doing it for just under £500. Again they were all very helpful and friendly, answered any questions that I was unsure about and generally just seem very professional. Ill definitely be going back, even if its for a minor repair. I would recommend going to Star even if it means a longer drive. DM

If we meet before the bridge that would probably be better. We were up at Star today and it will only take around an hour to get there from the showcase cinema. DM -

I agree Im going up with Grim on Thursday and leaving my C there till the Sunday to get repairs done. We will be going up in his C, but definitely need to make arrangements for meeting up in the next few days. DM -
Looked good, again would have liked it to have been a bit longer and as VR6 says, "a stint round the track", bet nick is well chuffed!! 8)

Iv bought scotcorradog60's re-conditioned alternator I went onto euro-parts website just out of curiosity and they were sold out anyway Thanks everyone for the help I only hope I can get the new alternator installed without any complications and that it was in fact the alternator that was the problem. Ill keep you posted on the results DM
-
Cool, just need to get the alternator now, im sure that wont be hard. Had an offer from a generous guy on the forum, £50 for a re-conditioned one after 12000 miles, sounds ok with me. Cheers Henny Maybe we will meet one day and compare your cool C with my (hmm ok) C. DM

Sorry for posting another thread but I really need someone to inlighten me on how to disconnect an alternator and re-fit a new one. I cant get my baby on the road without one. Hopefully I can get one shortly and the way to fit it properly. Regards DM

Yeah from bedrock, they are SH*t hot in their work but I really cannot afford that. I need the work done but dont want my pants pulled down over the price. Doubt ill be going on the rollers at Star on the 30th of this month unfortunately I would love to, but I dont think my C if safe to go on rollers DM

Hey everyone Just curious here... Iv got a load of repairs that I need to get done and have had a rough quote of how much it could cost. The guy at the garage said "ill try and keep it under £1000". Just wondering if this is reasonable for all these repairs, can someone help me. 1) Off side wheel bearing 2) Off side CV boot 3) Front engine mount replaced 4) Steering set up 5) Driveshaft replaced 6) Ignition switch replaced 7) Oil change 8 ) Brake fluid change Another couple of things hes going to look at and tell me his opinion too. Cheers DM

Cheers guys Ill get the pipe and clip replaced, its going into bedrock soon to get loads of stuff done so hopefully they can do that too. Thanks again DM

Hey everyone, I hope someone has encountered this one. Every time I switch my C on in the morning after its been in bed all night there is a strong smell of petrol. I opened the bonnet yesterday morning as soon as I swithched her on to see what the problem was. The fuel regulater pipe, (at least I think that is what it is) seems to have a small 'puddle', for lack of a better word, of petrol lying on a bracket behind the main part of the engine. As the car is ticking over I can see droplets of petrol falling onto the engine and being evapourated by the heat consequently causing copious amounts of smoke. I am worried about the heat of the engine ignighting the petrol and basically frying my engine. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?? Regards in advance DM
