Just thought i would share my frustration with you all after a morning of messing about trying to get my car mot'd. Took my car for its mot last saturday at the cost of £35 whuch isn't bad compared to some garages, it failed on lower suspension arms and ball joints and rear wheel bearings. All of which was fixed on tuesday using new parts at another local garage. I took it back this morning for its free re-test and took along my receipt to prove the work had been done. The garage then checked the items it failed on and claimed the rear wheel bearings had more play in them than they originallly did! I showed them the receipt to prove they had been changed and even phoned the garage where the work had been done to get them to speak to the mot station but the mot examiner wasn't interested! It was a fail and that was my free re-test gone! I said just pass it, i'll nip round to the garage get the bearings tightened up and get them to phone you to prove it but no that was breaking the rules! So i ended up taking it back to my garage, getting the bearings tightened which took all of 5 mins, just to take it back to the mot station to then go through the whole mot again at the cost of £35! And when i say whole mot i mean lights emmisions everything even though it was only a week ago when it was first mot'd. Absolute joke! Whatever happened to mot stations being slightly lenient and using their discretion? Ian I can undersatnd that mot inspector was only doing his job and following the rules but its just so

Was at my local garage this morning getting the rado mot'd and before i even got into the garage to let them know i was there a chap came out of the waiting room into the car park and told me he used to own a vr6 about 4 years ago, he seemed really excited to have a look round mine and obviously brought back many happy memories. He said that family commitments forced him to sell it and he now drives round in a seat leon tdi, spent the next half hour whilst my mot was been done chatting about corrado's, nice to meet someone who shares such enthusiasm!

Saw a red K plate possibly vr in derby today, passed me going down Raynesway dual carriage way, i slowed down to give a wave and thumbs up as you passed but was completely ignored! Obviously not a true rado enthusiast!

Looks nice, if you do buy it the first thing that you should do is get rid of that tow bar!

Spotted a burgondy/maroon vr6 n reg i think with german style plates and 17" bbs alloys??? on jct 25 m1/a52 island this morning about 8.30-9.00. I was driving a blue transit curtain-sider with rolls-royce livery down the side so didn't wave, looked well nice! Ian :) Oh, saw "jay16valve" again this morning but as we pass each other every morning i guess it doesn't count as a spot any more! :D

Doing well with my spots lately, passed 'jay16valve' every morning so far this week then on my way home today spotted a red rado 'H' plate i'm guessing 16valve about quarter past/half past 4 on the A608 mansfield road in Underwood, got a wave, first time i've seen you, anyone on here? Ian

Spotted one going south on the m1 today at jct 30, about 1ish. Looked like a vr, burgondy/maroon colour with blue wheel arches? Couldn't quit see as i was travelling northbound, looked interesting anyway.

Car has been loosing power at about 2500-3000 revs when the engine is warm, sometimes you can drive the car fine all day and other times its every couple of miles. I assumed there was a problem with the petrol as it feels like the enging is coughing and starving of fuel. I've ran some red-x through it and changed the fuel filter but the problem just keeps happening. On driving home this evening it lost power when coasting up to a junction, i floored the accelerator and it wouldn't rev past 1000! The exhaust was popping and banging a lot and the car sounded dreadfull! I opened the bonnet and heard the k+n airfilter sucking really loudly! I gave it a wobble and all went back to normal! Obviously too much air is getting into the mixture and causing the rough running, i've checked all the air intake system and everything seems tight and fixed in place as it should be. The only thing that seems a bit odd is the small black box in the photo below is making a lot of noise, i can't feel any draft coming from it so i assume its sucking? If someone could please tell me what this part is and what it does? Sorry for the long explanation, thanks in advance IanSDC10541.JPG[/attachment:2s9m9pnh]

Been thinking about painting the black plastic rear trim that the number plate fixes onto so it matches the rest of the car. Just wondered if anyone had done this themselves? Thanks Ian

Are you sure there the right bulbs? Sounds like you've fitted bulbs with a single element in them rather than the 2 elements needed?

I think it is a perfect time to buy a vr! Everybody knows if you buy a shed of an example for a grand your just going to throw money at it that you will never get back. But spend a bit more £1500-1800 and you can pick up decent mileage, fsh and even leather example! Buy one now, garage it for the winter months sort out any little jobs that might need doing then enjoy it next summer. From a buyers perspective there has never been a better time, but from a sellers perspective it must be a nightmare! Ian

Thats my car! Tried to park it out of the way so don't get people next to me banging their doors into mine and look what happens! Ha ha !! In truth we were parked right near the exit, (so we dont get people next to us bangin the doors!)we walked past your car on the way out and decided to drive all the way round just to park next to you and take a pic!! I really liked your car especially the headlights, they looked smoked, please enlighten me Thanks, yeah headlights are tinted with lamin-x got it off a guy on here, wish i'd come out of asda a bit earlier would of been good to have a chat. If people from derby did want to meet "jay16valve" also from derby is organising a rolling road day next saturday in ripley, think there's a good crowd going you don't have to go on the rolling road just come along a meet a few people.

Girlfriend spotted 2 in Derby yesterday. 1st was a K plate grey vr6 in chadesden area, 2nd was a maroon/burgondy not sure on year or spec heading along mansfield road past the paddock pub, driven by a young lad wearing a hat/cap. Might be jay16valve???? Cheers Ian

Starting a new job in the next couple of weeks and going to be doing 40+ miles a day, don't fancy putting the miles on my vr plus the bad weather is coming so going to buy something cheap just to thrash to and from work everyday through the winter months. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on what i should buy??????? Budget is about £400 and i need to get sensible mpg so engine size is important. Any ideas??? Thanks Ian

I would say go all red if its just a show car, but if you use it every day then leave the reversing light. It is a bit fiddley to mask up but worth it to be legal.

Here's mine, took ages to do. Spent about 2 hours preperaring them with wet and dry paper, then gave them about 10 light coats of red paint, 10 coats of clear lacquer then t-cut and a good polish. Well pleased with how they look............ 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfSDC10476.JPG[/attachment:1wtnik3n]SDC10478.JPG[/attachment:1wtnik3n]

2 spots in 1 day and it had to be the 1 day this year my car is off the road due to coolant problems! 1st was about half 3 on Nottingham road, Derby. Burgondy/maroon L*** NNH i think? Young chap about 20-25 years old. Looked low on nice alloys. 2nd was 5.50 this afternoon on A38 coming from Derby just entering jct28 m1. Bright red J reg. Looked very well polished. I was in a black ford ka borrowed off the girlfriend, gutted!

Boiling water first then t-cut and a lot of elbow grease

Right, started the car up on friday evening after it had been parked in the works car park all day and the temperature gauge went straight to max and the coolant warning light began flashing. I checked the coolant level and it was fine, i then switched the engine off and the fan came on. The engine had only been running for a minute so therefore was not hot but the fan just kept running. I called the AA out and they diagnosed a faulty temperature sensor. They said it would be ok for the short drive home (10 mins). After a couple of mins driving home the temperature gauge needle suddenly dropped from max to resting on the bottom. I have replaced the temperature sensor (yellow 4 pin plug, vag part 701 919 369d) which i understand controls the temp gauge/fan control/aux water pump. However, when i start the car now the coolant warning light has stopped flashing - good, but the temperature gauge is not moving off the bottom and the fan is now not working! My knowledge of car electronics is very poor but even i can understand that the fan isn't coming on because the temperature gauge thinks the coolant is cold so therefore the fan isn't needed to cool the engine. Any suggestions what the next part i should replace should be??? Thanks Ian
