Well i finally decided im going to sell my car, there`s a guy coming to look at it tomorrow, As the car has been standing for a year i thought i best give it a check over before he comes, and i found a couple of problems. 1. windscreen wipes wont work, ive checked the fuse and relay both are fine but no wipe and no water jets, What else do i need to check ? 2. The headlights are behaving very strange its been converted to Hids in Inpros, when i turn them on one light comes on and the other one flickers and stays off and when i switch them off the one that came on stays on. Ive changed the relays in the up rated loom but no good. What else can i look at. Its typical i only find out theses things are wrong the night before someone is coming to have a look at it. Any help would be great. Thanks. :help:

I spoke to G-Werks this morning and they told me as long as there is no silicon in the greece it will be fine, i checked the ingredients and there is no mention of silicon so hopefully all is ok.They told me that the reason silicon can be a problem is that it glazes the lamba probe.

Hi fella`s, Ive just put my newly re-built charger back on the car and i thought i would give it a spray of PTFE to loob it up, after i finished spraying i reliesed i had picked up the wrong can i used white Lithium grease it serves me right for not paying attention to what i was doing it looked the same when it was going in it wasnt till afterwards that i reliesed :cuckoo: Is this likely to cause any problems ?? It does say on the can Heavey duty, long lasting lubricant, water and heat resistant

Thanks fella`s the first time i fitted the timing belt i turned the tensioner by using an alan key by putting the short end in the hole in the tensioner and turning it on the stud, that seemed to work okay but not sure how tight that was, ill make a tool myself. Any idea on the price of the injectors and what would be a fare price to pay for a used ECU ? And can you change the chip in an ECU yourself ?

Hi, Ive been putting my car ( G60 ) back together after trying to find out whats causing the pinking. I put the new crank pulley bolt in and the cam belt on and everything else turned the key and to my amasement it started first time :D but i had a squeeking coming from somewhere, as i lent over the engine to see where it was coming from a spanner fell out of my top pocket landed on the cambelt and put holes in it all the way round :censored: what more can i say im cursed. but i got all the parts to do it again i just have a few questions before i start. Do i really need the timming belt tensioner tool ? How tight does the timimg belt need to be ? Which way should the timing belt tensioner be turned to tighten the belt clockwise or anti clockwise ? Also not related to this problem but can anyone tell me how much a new set of injectors will set me back ? Thanks.

you can uprgade the loom for very little, and then as kev said clean the lights good and some new H4 bulbs, happy days Biggest problem with angel eyes is that the dip beam goes off when main beam is on, I rewired everything so they all come on and it made loads of difference. hi m8, sorry to hi-jack someone else's topic but can you tell me exactly how you re-wired your in-pros so the low beam stays on and can this be done using HIDS sorry but I'm not very good with electrics, i live in the country and my high beams are useless.

there should be zero play in the crank sprocket. The one that drives the cam belt. Thanks m8, theres a tiny abit of move ment side to side is there any thing i can do to fix it ? could this be the cause of the pinking problem ?

Anyone  I really want to start getting the car back together if its off the road for to much longer i wont get a chance to have any fun in it before winter sets in and i dont want to put the crank pulley bolt back in to find out ive got to take it off again and get another one. I took the front bummer off today which was quite easy after reading how to on here and its a good job i did because i found that the coller that holds the braided oil line to the connecter for the oil cooler had rusted through so i will put a couple of jubilee clips on instead, if i hadnt of notice it could have killed the engine and made an awful mess. I just hope i remember how to put the car back together. So far the charger, alternator, airbox, all water hoses, bumber, rad, intercooler, oil cooler, slam pan, and all the other bits n peices that go with it are all off, so i will properly be asking where things go other the next couple of weeks lol :) And then i can finally get back to finding out whats causing me pinking problem.

Hi fellas, im just starting to get things back together as im expecting my charger and water pipes next week. i was going to put the new crank pulley bolt on today when i noticed there is a ting bit of play / movement in the crank pulley only about a MM but im sure there shouldnt be any at all, there doesnt seem to be any damage to the key on the pulley or the key way on the crank. My question is - Is any amount of play exceptable and if not what can i do about it ?
-
`Thanks very much for that m8, i just wanted to check as the crank is very important, i was just abit worried about having to heat it to undo the red. Also is there a torque setting for the rocket cover nuts? I have got a bentley manual on CD but it doesnt seem to work with Vista.

Hi, my Vw dealer finally got my new crank pulley bolt so i can start getting the car put back together. I went to get some thread lock today and found out there are two different sorts the red which is permanent and has to be heated to be removed or the blue which can be undone by hand tools, the question is which one do people use ? Ive only used the red before and i thought that's all there was and I'm sure Ive undone bolts which red with out heating it before. Also I'm fitting a new rocker cover gasket should i use a sealant ? The engine is a G60 , Any opinions would be great. thanks.

Thanks for that Andy, i knew you said it was serviced around about that time but couldnt find a reciept. I heard back from G-werks today and they said if the chip of the end is the only damage then they will be able to fix it, lucky enough my parents are going over to England on tuesday so they are going to take the charger over and post it over there and then when its done ill have it sent to the in-laws and my parents all pick it up and bring it back for me it should save me a couple of hundred quid :) What postal company do you use to send your chargers ? Hopefully it will do more then 5000 miles after this re-build, i might have to get rid off the boost re-turn delete if thats the effect it has on the charger its a shame cause i quite like the whistley whistley noises.

Im just about to forward the pics to Gwerks ill keep my fingers crossed. Do you work for Gwerks i just wondered as it comes up underneith your posts ? They were very help ful today i cant remember the name of the fella i spoke to. Thanks.

[attachmentIMG_0066.JPG[/attachment:2j3wh8m0]=3]IMG_0IMG_0057.JPG056.JPG Hi, I contacted Gwerks today and they asked me to take some pics of the inside of my charger, when i got it open all looked ok apart from the end of one of the chanels the apex strip sits in is chiped off ( see pics ) is this enough to make the charger a right off ? also are the pics above what Gwerks are looking for if not what sort of angles ? I dont want to do a turbo conversion i love the sound of the supercharger and when i finally get it going right ill have a :) from ear 2 ear just at the moment it feels like such a long way a way. If the charger is a right off i will be on the look out for a Screw charger if i can find one at a sensable price. john

Well isnt that tipical :( im not sure how long the strip is ment to be but i have about 5inch of it , how likely is it that ive caused damage ive only done bout 2000 miles since ive had the car ? The person i brought the car from did say the charger had been serviced in 2006 but had no receipt the only reciept i can from in the box of paper work is from 2002 serviced at 79000miles by Jabba Sport. The car has now done 125000miles. I think its properly going to cost me 80quid ish each way just for postage on the re-build. ill be sending it to G-Werks i have heard alot of good things about them. This car has been nothing but a nightmare since i got it home the only time ive driven it with nothing going wrong was bring it home, im starting to think im cursed :bonk: :bonk: So far the cars cost me about 8 grand and i cant even drive it :( im guessing another grand before i get it back on the road.
-
Hi. As above really i took the intercooler pipe off of the supercharger and i found a thin strip of white plasic stuck in the supercharger outlet, im guessing it`s a Apex strip, If so my supercharger will have to be sent off for a re-build am i right ?

Hi, I need to get a set of silicon hoses for my G60 as my K hose has split and to replace them all with genuin parts is working out to be very expensive i was just wondering if anyone has tryed any of the other companys apart from samco and what has there experience been ie, quailty, time scale ? Venair do a kit for the G60 for 204 euros plus free postage but ive been told the quaility is not great also i was reading the SFS website they dont do a kit for the G60 only do the two rad hoses but they do quite openly invite anyone from a forum to contact them about group buys and they will make up the kit i was wondering if anyone on here has ever contacted them ? Does anyone know of anyone doing any deals at the moment ? john

NUTS Sorry i forgot you wanted pics of plugs just after id been for a drive , its properly going to be awhile until i can get pics after a drive as car is off the road due to the split pipe ive got to order samcos as soon as i get paid. Yes the correct procedure was followed when doing the timing.

dirtytorque - Here are the pics of the spark plugs best pics i could get. Also i done a compression test today and it came up 147psi, 145psi,150psi and 150psi so no problem with the compression. I think might have to try another ECU ?
-
:) ill get the holy water tomorrow my friend is a priest any thing is worth a go at this point  :pale:

Thanks for that fellas, I just wanted to make sure that there wasnt some connection that i was missing. To Dirtytorque When i get the car back i will pull one of the plugs and take a picture so you can take alook :thumbleft: The petrol is 99 ron Maxol E5 thats the only petrol i can get over 95ron and ive got to travel 50 miles to get that  The water temp doesnt seem to be any hotter but ive only had the car a short while so i dont really know ive properly only covered 2000 miles since i picked it up from Andy. I did notice a couple of weeks ago when the second lot of pinking started the inlet manifold was very hot im not sure if thats normal. What ive checked so far- Cam and flywheel timing, Dizzy timing, new leads cap rotor arm, checked blue temp sensor, knock sensor looked new torqued up right, throttle body ok, Im on a different tank of fule and still have the same problem, Changed the vacum hoses to ECU, CO pot checked and ok, Injecter cleaner used. I will check compression and fule pressure when i get the car back, there dosent seem to be any movement in the crank pulley i put the car in gear and hard on the breaks while someone tryed to move the pulley and no go. Is there anything else i can add to my list that i need to check ?
-
:( o dear o dear o dear :( I reallt not having much luck with this car at the moment, i took it to work this afternoon so i could take it to a garage and get a compression test done and borrow a fuel pressure gauge but not one garage in my area had either, i really dont know how these places do half there jobs without there tools. So i carryed on to my first afternoon job and my water light came on i pulled over looked under the bonnet ONE OF MY WATER PIPES HAD SPLIT its the one that goes to or from the heat exchange on the oil filter down to a small T going on to 2 metal pipes, the split is about an inch long right in the middle of the T :censored: The thing is i know a pipe shouldnt just split like that im thinking there might be a more serious reason for it maybe the headgasget is going but i cant see any signs of water in the oil and i didnt see any oil in the water that was under the car. Could this be connected to my pinking problem in any way ? A couple of weeks ago i had to change the flange on the top of the rad cause that was leaking spraying water all over the engine maybe the pipe was the next weekest place  Anyone got any thoughts on this ? its starting to become a love/hate relationship .
-
Yes he came out with me for a drive in the car after he set the timing back to 6btdc and heard the pinking for himself and he said it was deff pinking, he checked the cam timing against the flywheel timing and they are both lined up fine he also got me to put the car in gear and hold my foot on the break and he tryed to move the crank pulley to see if it was loose but no.
-
Hi I'm back again. I told the car to someone today with a good knowledge of G60s he set the timing for me, checked a few bits n pieces on the engine. The sensor on the boost pipe was set wrong if i remember right it was set at 850oms instead of 500 which seems a big difference has anyone got an idea why this could be ? He said the knock sensor looked new he also said the car should be a lot faster than it is, but he couldn't actually find anything wrong. He suggested that i change all the sensors and see if that helps. On my way home i was thinking there is a couple of things that i haven't looked at yet, fuel pump, fuel filer and regulator I'm guessing all these things could cause pinking and lack of power. Also i took the plugs out and they had a light covering of brown/orange soot i don't know if this helps ( i forgot to take a pic ) Any more suggestions of things for me to check would be great as this car is driving me crazy :brickwall: Thanks.

o Dear m8 what can i say , I live in Co.Kerry Southern Ireland very rural, there are no back streets here let alone back street garages , ive only found one machanic in my area thats even seen a Corrado before, i think theres only about ten G60s in the country give or take. We moved over here from England and wanted to bring something differnet over but mybe it wasnt such a good move. I think ive found one place but its like over 100miles away so it might be a case of retarding the timing as far as nessasary so i can drive it there. Thanks very much i really do appreiate all the help ive been given.
