Ok fella i understood some of that thanks. :) Anyway i checked the timimg today and it was set at TDC not 6 deg Advance which seems abit strange as im getting pinking. Just for the fact that its surposed to be at 6 before tdc i tryed it and the pinking was very bad, so i set the timing at 2 degs after TDC, i got no pinking but the car was gutless so i set it back to TDC. I have a few things to check with people in the know. Should i be able to hear the pinking in the car with the windows closed ? ( as the noise im taking as pinking can only be heard with the windows open ). What else could be the cause of the pinking ? Referring to my last post as my car has been changed to toothed belt drive for the supercharger am i right in thinking that there is no timing mark on my bottom pulley as i cant find one ? My charger belt takes standard root ie bottom pulley charger, alternator. Sorry lads but im starting to get really confused now i think im getting in over my head , im even thinking about taking it to a rolling road and even they`ve got no idea what to do with the G60 :( they seem to think it could be a fueling issue. I just really dont know anymore. :help: :help:

Hi m8, are you sure they are the same as the pic it goes over the edge of the window rubber ? if so i only want one is that 30 quid + postage ? I live in Southern Ireland what do you think postage would be by spanish post ? Thanks scroll down this http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=78955#p915266 and you will see it :) shipping to england/ireland might be little expensive :( if you can find any cheap company, please let me know :) Have you got one still back plastic ie not painted ? What would you call expensive postage? the only other one ive found is in USA and they want 100 dollers postage.

lol yer some storm up to 100 mph winds we get here, we live right by the beach, i would leave the spoiler off but the car was re-painted with the spoiler on and it has left a paint line around the edge of the window about 10mm out so if i take off all the glue im going to be left with a scaby line around the window where the two paints meet belive me i would love to leave the spoiler off but it would cost me a small fortune to get the boot re-painted over here and it wouldnt be done in time for the show . A full re-spray next year so the spoiler can come off then.

me again lol :) im in the middle of checking that all the timing marks line up, ive lined up the cam gear mark with the point on the rocker cover which also lines up TDC on the flywheel but i cant find the mark on the crank pulley i can see the pointer on the lower timing belt cover but no mark on the pulley. Now my car has been converted to toothed belt drive for the supercharger so the bottom pulley has been changed ,should there be a mark on the toothed pulley ? cause i cant find one , is there any other way of checking the timing on that end ? Im guessing if the bottom pulley had moved that the cam gear timing mark would be out ? as they are both linked by the belt.

I would clean the glue off but its on the window rubber and seems very well bonded also the car has been hevaly polished after the spoiler was put on which has left a thin strip of lighter paint where the spoiler was and im worried that if i try to polish that out ill rub through the rest of the paint. The glue is thick horrible black rubbery stuff and looks awful.

Hi, Im trying to find a replacement roof tip spoiler for my Corrado we had a really bad storm here a while ago which took the spoiler off the car and i cant find it anywhere and its left nasty looking glue around the window so i really need a new one, as im going to a show at the end of the month and i really dont wont it looking tatty. Heres a pic of the spolier - Any help would be great thanks.

thanks alot m8, all i need now is some good weather at the weekend. The timing light i brought is Draper Xenon non adjustable thats all the shop had. Thanks

I went to my local garage today about the timing and he said he hasnt got a timing light but he would do it by ear  i didnt like the sound of that so i went and brought a timing light of my own. Ive never used one before so i need a little bit of help i know how to connect it up and to look for TDC on the flywheel but the things i dont understand are - How do i work out the 6 degree advance and which is plug number one ? Any help would be great.

sorry just a couple more questions about the knock sensor, Has the knock sensor got limitations on the amount of retardation it can make ? What is the correct torque setting for the knock sensor and is there any way of testing it to make sure its working properly ?
-
That helps an awful lot m8 thanks very much. I dont have timing light so it looks like cars off to the garage but i will print that out to take with me as none of the garages round here have ever seen a Corrado before let-alone a G60 , i hate taking cars to garages as you never know what your going to get. Thanks again.

well fellas my pinking problem is back again :( I filled the car up today with the same 99ron petrol i have been using since the last episode 5 mins after the car started pinking again i got some octane booster but that didnt help so i had to crawl home 60 miles. The one thing i did notice was my inlet manifold was red hot im sure i remember reading on here that that was a sign of some sort of problem but i cant remember what. I didnt retart the timming last time so ill have to do that now. Can someone please tell me, Where do i line the timing mark on the top pulley with ? How do i work out the standard 6drg advance ? How retarded is to retarded ? ( no smart comments please ) :) I hope i can get this sorted before tomorrow as im surposed to be going to a Rally. Thanks. John

Please if anyone with experience with in-pros could give my some advice i would really appreicte it. Please dont say use the search because ive tryed that spent hours looking through bits.

Thanks for that fella, ill have to get onto my local VW dealer (60miles) monday . Looks like the rarrdo will be off the road for a week or two over a stupid rubber ring :( Is there any sort of temp fix, PTFE any good ?
-
Hi , Ive been losing water from the G60 for a while now and finally found out where from the O-Ring in the top of the Rad where its held in by two bolts has split and is letting water seep out, can i get a new O-Ring or could i use PTFE tape or something like that ?

Thanks Andy you are a star, Im still having an issue with the tick over when re-starting the car when its hot its very lumpy, ive cleaned the ISV valve with carb cleaner and that stoped the car from ticking over very slow and now its ticking over fast and the lumpy hot re-start is still there, any help would be great.

Hi fellas, After spending all weekend working on the G , i left the house this morning to go to a Course about 10miles from home the charger belt snaped :censored: luckly enough Andy gave me a spare belt when i brought the car which was in the boot which i changed on the side of the road which wasnst as hard as i thought it would be, the worst bit was getting the power steering belt off ( left plenty of bits of my skin under the car ) took bout 1/2 hour it just had to happen today of all days. Im having problems getting hold of a new spare belt ive phoned G Werks and they dont sell them anymore :( can someone please tell me where i can get hold of one ? The belt im after is a 8M 1600HD 20MM Toothed belt. I live right out in the middle of no where and theres no where over here to get any parts for the G. I would be very greatfull for any help. Thanks. On a plus note I HAVE A DAY OFF :)

Thanks for all your help fellas the car is back up and running again :) but now she seems to be ticking over alittle fast and once shes been driven and switched off if i start the car again when its hot the idle is abit lumpy ( was there before the service ) but after running for a few mins it goes away. I cleaned the ISV valve with carb cleaner but its no better. Any ideas ?

Thanks for that , just going to give it ago now cheers.

well im back again :) it has taken me ages to sort out that leaky pipe and i lost nearly all the water out of the water system in the process, i filled it back up by removing the top rad hose and pouring it in there but when i started the engine back up the water pressure light is flashing on , Is there any particular order to refilling the water system to avoid airlocks ?
-
ive just been looking abit closer at the pipes and the heat exchange has been by-passed by using a peice of u shaped bit of copper pipe and thats where the pipe has split. One of you mentioned using a golf part for the by-pass can you please fill me in alittle more as im sure it would also look a bit tidyier.

Thanks very much guys, the oli cooler had already been fitted before i got the car im not quite sure how it was done as ive no clue with these engines but there was plenty of room to get to the big filter from underneith. Thanks for the part number ill get one ordered A.S.A.P its a good job i done it today as ive found a split water pipe as well. I have another question i know its in the wrong section but why take up space. My steering is making a horrible judderring noise that i can feel coming up through the steerring wheel ive checked the belt and it seemed tight but ive put a couple of extrea turns on it just to make sure is it a common problem and what should i check next? Thanks again for the help with the filter, i would be lost without this forum.
-
Yep the new oil filter has got the nut on the end like the old one but the filter its only half the size length.

Thanks for the help fella`s i did try all the different sherch options with no luck, so in the end i took the headlights out and found a small adjustment screw in the oposit bottom corner from the thumb screw which i guess ( after stripping the headlight and adjusting the screw while looking ) adjusts left to right swing of the headlight, now ive just got to wait till it gets dark to see if im right. The reason i couldnt see the screw was because it was tucked down behind the FMIC i just hope i havent put the lowbeams to far out .
