hi, Im just doing my first oil change on the G60, the oil filter they gave me is half the size of the one ive just taken off, they told me its the same filter as the GTI Golf is this right ? Car is fitter with an Oil cooler and im sure ive read on here somewhere that with the Oil Cooler you do use a smaller filter but i cant find what car its off, i Just want to make sure as i dont wont to blow the car up. John

Hi, Im having a little trouble with my In-Pros the Lowbeam had been changed to HIDs before i got the car which is great but the problem im having is , with the low beams set right the high beams are way out their focused in a spot 20feet in front of the car ( not much diff then the low beams ) which makes driving in the country a nightmare. I`ve got no experience with these headlights at all. Is there anyway of adjusting the high and low beam seperatly or adjusting the whole unit to get a better light pattern? Sorry if this is a stupid question but i just have no idea with this car and i dont want to start messing with it and mess it up completely, any advice would be great. John and headlight numpty :)

I managed to get the clock lights working again not sure what it was, i took the conections and switches apart cleaned them, put them back together and on they came. Now i have a new problem my speedo has droped past the bottom of the numbers so when im driving im doing about 10mph before it hits 0 on the clocks , what have i done wrong? do i need to hold the needle at 0 when i put the cable back in , or something like that :shrug: ? Just a quick update fella`s , I put Octane Booster in today and seems to have sovled the pinking problem for now but its an expensive solution 30euros a bottle ( the best one they had ) so i think i will have to retard the ignition abit. This is properly a stupid question but only if you know the answer, Which way do i turn the distributer to retard the ignition ?

You must have read my mind :lol: youve answered most of the questions i was just bizzy typing. Thanks i feel like such a newbee :lol: :) This car is just so different to what im used to. Give me a year and ill know it inside out.

Thanks for the replys fellas, its a bit hard to tell when you`ve never heard it before. Sorry to sound abit stupid but whats the best way to check the timing and can the adjustments be made on the dissy cap ? The petrol here is not as high ron as UK so booster might be my best bet and thinking back this is my first full tank of Paddy Petrol is there any perticular booster to use because on our Renault 5 we were told never to use it cause it damages the vaule stem seels. Thanks again for the help i was starting to think i had done something wrong as ive started a couple of threads and had no replys at all :) John.

Hi, Im the person who brought Andy`s Nugget G60. I hope somebody can help,Its as the Subject says really under load the Engine is making a crackling noise it only does this when im driving, there is no signs of it if i rev the engine out of gear, it almost sounds like electricty arcking :shrug: Im very worried that it could be pinking ( pre-detination) sorry about the spelling. Has anyone had the same sort of problem? Can anyone give me any pointers on where to start looking as i have no experience which the G60, any help and advice would be great as i dont want to drive the car cause i dont want to melt a piston :scratch: John.

Hi Fella`s, Iwas comming home the other night as it got dark i turned the lights on and my clock lights wouldnt come on, the heater pannel lights are comming on and so are the MFA lights but the lights in the dials are not coming on, i have checked the fuses and they are ok, Has any one got any ideas please ? thanks , John

Hi, My car has HID low beam but not high, I find it very hard when driving because when i flick to high beam the light is so dull compared to my low beam its hard to see , i live in the country and my high beams are very important, No street lights here. So to cut a long strory short i need HID High&low and i have no Idea how to do it so can someone please give me an idiots guide on HID Lights :help: and what i would need for the job? The way i understand it they both need to be in the projector side of the headlight :confused4: Any help would be great, Thanks. John

sorry fellas , its a G60 and its got a toothed belt set up, and the tensioner im talking about is a cam belt tensioner, im just not sure how tight to have the belt. Untill i done a bit more reading on here i thought that was the standard set up. Its a bit hard to get to the bolt because whoever put it in used an Alan-key bolt and you cant get the alan-key in the gap between the car and the bracket the tensioner is on, so i think im going to have to loosen the engine mounts to raise it up high enough to take the bolt out and put a normal one in. Can anyone please surgest an easyier way ?

Hi, i started up the car to move it yesterday and there was a funny squeeking noise coming from the engine and didnt think much about it, i come home today to take the car to get the tracking done the squeeking noise was still there so i thought i best take alot before i went, it turns out that the nut that holds the chargerbelt tensioner in place had come off at some point and the belt was only half on, so i got another nut to put on the end. The question is: How do i set the tension for the charger belt, also how do you manage to get to the Alan key head on the bolt, the only way i can see is to loosen the engine mounts and jack it up ? Im so surprized it didnt lose the belt, the only journey the cars done is from England to Ireland which is when i guess it happened , o well im just glad nothing broke :eek: :eek: On a good note im so pleased the suspension is all sorted so i cant wait to get to drive it properly. :)

sorry mate i think you are slightly :confused4: its not the 22mm nut im having trouble with, its the coller underneth it with two notches in it thats what im having trouble with.

I only have one socket set, a set of spanners and the airgun and a set of screw drivers :lol: i would have to buy a grinder and another scoket to grind up, but nice try good idea , thanks haha i love ireland :luvlove: fantastic senery lol just no shops by the sounds of it :lol: if it was a tractor i would av the parts in 5 mins cause its a car ill be waiting a month :lol:

yer m8, should have been an easy job, first thing i got to was the rings all four sets were seased soild, one broke when i was taking them off i ordered new rings and it took a week , got the backs done no proplem, then i got to the fronts and couldnt get the 22ml nuts of the top mount so i ended up buying an airgun compressor and now ive got the these and cant get them undone. The whole job has been a pain. If you could send me the tool i will PM you my details. Thanks very much m8.

Thanks for the reply , Ive not been in Ireland very long and i gave all my tools away when we i moved here, My car is a G60 and i have FK suspension, the tool im after is the one with the two little pegs on it, its just imposible to get tools round here, i brought a compressor and a air rachiet to undo the 22ml nuts and i thought i was home dry and then i came across these two little things which has had me stuck again :( even none of the garages round here have got the tool . So far raising the suspension has taken a month due to waiting for parts , running into problems and waiting for more parts :mad2: If you ad the tool it would be great if i could borrow it i would be more than happy to pay the postage. I just want to drive my car :( . Thanks alot.

Hi, Can someone please tell me where i can get the tool for undoing the nut on the top of the strut with the groves in it?Ive tryed knocking it around with a screw driver but no good, im starting to make a mess of the nuts and im worried about recking the threads. I need to get the tool sent to Ireland as i cant find one here at all. Any help would be great , Thanks

hi fella`s im back again , Ive been working on the coilovers for two days and i cant get the spring platforms to move, i managed to get a C Spanner and sprayed the shocks with WD40 given them a tap with a hammer and used a 5ft bar on the C spanner but they will not move, tomorrow im going to take them off clamp them in a vice and use a pair of stilson's because i cant thick of anything else to try. Is there any advice anyone can give me on getting these things undone? And also if i make a mess of the collers can i replace them? Thanks.

bump Please can someone help, i found a place where i can order some C Spaners but they need to know what size i need, someone else on here must have FK Suspension, it is an hours drive to the closest place to get them so its impotant to know what size. Thanks.

Im going to try and raise the suspension that is already on the car and see what sort of result i get, but i havent got the c spaners and i cant find what size i need so please can any one who has the same suspension tell me what size they are? Cheers.
