  1. Hello all, Well there are a couple things. My C does not have the smoothest change. Seems a little slack/loose. If I rag it in 2nd and go into 3rd it also really struggles, it goes, but does grade and I really feel it grate! It is horrid. Are there any bush kits/known problems that may help/relate to this? Thanks, Leon

    20v turbo

My Rado runs 340BHP @ 17PSI with G60 management. Only trick is setting up the spark... you need a custom box that Jabba do that uses a TDC pickup on the crank to make 4 pulses as you cannot use the Distributor obviously. Best thing though is to try get your hands on stock management. Matt @ Disigna dubs as above can do this install. Standard injection system is excelent, just hard to find all the bits (Loom, ECU, clocks, Key etc - from the same car) As for the noises... should hear my corrado as your vision goes blurry due to your eyeballs being forced back into your head as the boost comes in, whooooooooooooshhhhhhhhhhh!! Psssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lovely!
  3. I had taped up the idle switch and put the tape too tight making the switch stay closed/on. (I dont use that with the 20v) All sorted now
  4. Good thought beavis, did check this, but this car does not run the idle circuitry. This was bypassed. That said I did fiddle and tape up some wires in that area that were with the throttle loom... perhaps I taped em up touching or something... will check that, thanks.
  5. That has been mentioned to me. Will tripple check it again, didnt look that hard last time. Will see, cross fingers that is the cause. Thanks, Leon

    20v turbo

Can take it... Im sure it could take 500 too... all about how long. At 9.5 that will be running considerably higher comp once boosted and will put the con-rods under far more stress. Given they are not as strong as the 200+ HP motors, this is where it will fail!! Given that most of us will never even consider close to 400HP (You would be stupid to - I got over 300 and it is just insane) it probably does not matter what you do.
  7. I take it this forum is legal and all that I cannot get a friendly copy of the manual? If not, where can I get it and how much would I pay? Is there a book version and if so how much and from where? Cheers, Leon
  8. Hello all, Well think I have fried my G60 ECU, but wanted to see if you guys had had this problem before/knew of a few things I could try to get it sorted. Basically I can start the car no problem. As soon as I touch the throttle the car seems to start to climb RPM, but then dies. Like it is not getting any more fuel. If I leave the throttle open it climbs to 1500RPM, dies goes down to about 750 then catches again, goes up to 1500 and then dies. It is literally like it is stuck in Idle mode and is not supplying more fuel in line with the RPM increase. Any ideas?? Thanks, Leon

I am deffo up for a set - assuming they would suite my requirements - Just waiting for answers on my "new suspension setup2" post.

    20v turbo

Oh... possibly  But deffo the comp ratios are different, I think this is just slightly different pistons.
  11. My car does it apparently... not intentional, but when just slowing down in traffic and it popps with the odd flame, makes people wonder. My old 8v MKII GTI used to pop and flame too when changing at high RPM. THink it has a lot to do with what exhaust you are running. If you have a free-flow with limited number of boxes you will probably get the odd flame. Cheers, Leon
  12. Hello all, Well my suspension setup has taken a bit of a back burner given I just popped my ECU today and had the exhaust sortof fall off yesterday - the joys of modded motors!! Anyways, question to the board is what coilover kits are out there and what would you recommend. I know I should go for the latest and greatest given my power, but I have to try and stick to a budget (Of fork all really) to ensure no bank robbing occurs in the near future. What are your thoughts? Bilstein, Koni, FK etc etc? What sort of prices is one looking at? Having read a bit about weight balancing and the comments made by those who have had this done - sounds like the thing to do! Cheers, Leon

    20v turbo

Difference in the motors the way I understand it is the 150/180 motors are 9.5:1 and have std pistong and con-rods. They run the K03 turbo. The 210+ motors - IE: Leon Cupra R's, S3, TT 225 etc run 9:1 compression with forged lower comp pistons and forged con-rods. Naturally given the lower compression the cat will have a little less torque, but ultimatly will produce big power far more reliably. If you look at http://www.jabbasport.com they pretty much quote the same figures once you replace the turbo to their IHI regardless of the motor. That said though - naturally the 9,5:1 compression motors will be under more strain for the same power. Basically if you are not wanting more than about 250 then the 150/180 motor is fine. Wanting more in the 300 region - although possible with the 150/180 motor - you should really look at the 210+HP motor. Hope that helps. Cheers, Leon
  14. What was the true difference between the storm and a standard VR?

What is corner weighted??? **Simple fellow here**
  16. Yeah I did do a photo shop and it looked standard to me!! Why does it look soooo phat then?? Must just be a good pic  It just looks so damn sexi!
  17. No F = 88/89 and mine is 89 & F... :) Hot air gun??? Sounding rather messy to me!! Worth it though?? Make the car look cleaner?
  18. I want to see the front bumper more clearly... is it a standard Rado one? Anyone know where I can get a badge like that?? The chrome VW in the Grill?
  19. Dr Mat... always such relavant input - ch ch ch cheers lol  I am deffo thinking the LHD thing is kewl!! As for the looks, the clean look. The suspension is looking the Kev's recomendation. The real problem I have is under the bonet, but will save that for another day!! Hope you are right - even on a 89/F reg??? Dont want to start and realise I have made a big boo boo!!!

    S3 or R32?

Um, tough one. S3 common... R32 brilliant and sold in limited numbers. Probably go down as a rare brilliant car. If your a performance Junkie... the S3 is just too easy to tune. Still looks good... (Although maybe starting to look dated). If you are buying new, I wouldnt buy either... but second hand then tough decision. My choise... probably the R32... although the tuneability of the 20vT may swing me to that. I would hve to drive both. The r32 sound may take it. Who knows... tough one mate!!! MY brain is frying just thinking about it... and I am not the one buying!
  21. Mmm interested in what 16vG60 has done... All I really want is suminc that looks a bit more impressive behind the wheels. The std ones just look lost.
  22. Hello all, Well I am liking the keep it simple thing deffo. I do want to clean the car up a bit though. The front I am deffo after suminc like the one above that I said I liked. As for the bumper... I did want something that I could show off a front mount with... but I hear what you are saying about toeing etc!! The interiour shots are from the car on ebay lol   The carbon bonet is from the states... just pics I found on VW Vortex. Interesting comment about it slicing you in half in the event of a front end... GOOD POINT! :( Anyway, question... if I take of the bump stops on the doors, does the C have holes in or are they simply stuck on? Thanks, Leon
  23. Hello all, Well, I am running fantastic front brakes, but std on the back. More than anything I am after something that looks good. The current brake setup is more than enough to stop the rado. I dont do track days so not after massive stopping power, but was wondering what people did with rear brakes? CHeers, Leon
