  1. Just been watching 'Life of Mammals' and the Humpback Whale's nuts weigh a tonne! 12 ft schlong to boot
  2. Cheers Blue_Joe. Wheels now back up for sale
  3. Don't like doing this, but... 'Sold' my 17's a few weeks ago to Matty16v. He paid me a £40 Paypal deposit and said he would come and get them within a 7-10 days. Fine by me. A couple of weeks later he told me he was buying a car down south and would pick the wheels up on the way back. This fell through. He kindly offered to send the balance of the money by recorded delivery as he definately wanted the wheels but was unsure when he would be able to get them. I agreed to keep them in my garage until he was able to collect (I have also suggested he organise a courier for less hassle, but he still wanted to collect). Two weeks later, no money and no contact. I have texted, emailed and PM'd, but have got no response. He has received my PM's as they have left my outbox. I had budgeted for that money by the end of September (went and bought some tyres etc) and am now very short and overdrawn. I thought he was a serious buyer, as he'd given me a deposit and promised to send the money- I was wrong. Least someone can do is reply to PM's, texts etc! Seems that everyone is messing me around at the mo- not happy!
  4. nocrap, there are lots of conflicting times for the 2.0 16v. Having owned 3, I'd say 8.5 is a better estimate. Interesting to see the stats in that Nothelle article had the figure at 8.1 secs.
  5. Good job, mate. You've reminded me, I still need to do my fronts.
  6. Always wave if I get the chance, and always get a wave back.
  7. Always thought they were supposed to be painfully slooooow, but when I actually got to drive one, it wasn't too bad. 0-60 is around 10 seconds-not great, but not too bad either. Very good fuel economy, and of course they look the same as any other Rado 8)
  8. Don't think so. The dealers only supply the whole unit AFAIK.
  9. Cheers guys! Giving it a good thrash sounds right, as it did come down after a couple of goes. Had a service a couple of months back with castrol magnatec oil, so that should be fine. When I removed the panel filter, it had a slight wiff of petrol. It passed on all the other readings, it was just the exhaust CO2 it failed on. So, injector cleaner and a good thrashing! I'll also give the air filter a clean as it's now out of the car. Thanks :)
  10. Got a CO2 reading of 0.33- gutted as it only needs to be 0.3. The testers tried a few times but it wouldn't go any lower :( Passed on everything else :) They reckon because it's so close, it will almost certainly pass if I let the petrol go right down and add some Wynn's injector/fuel treatment. They also suggested cleaning the air filter. Gonna try both of these. Any other ideas? Car's in for re-test on Tuesday. Cheers!
  11. Coil packs, MAFs, N75 valves & recirc valves are the things that tend to be a problem. Also dirty throttle bodies. By the way, whatever happened to that Corrado script badge? :?
  12. Start with the easy thing, and buy a new genuine VAG expansion cap. Also have a good check around all the pipework and look for any coolant residue.
  13. Welcome, Pukka. Sounds like you got a good 'un there. ps- I'll have a chicken & mushroom please

  15. It's at the back/top of the engine under the rear black plastic part of the engine cover. Has a couple of black rubber hoses running to it.

Get some Speedlines on there 8)
  17. Jim, my first valver had very inconsistent revs. Sometimes it would be bouncing around all over the place, and my local garage couldn't find the prob. Similar symptoms to yours when in traffic etc. After a good inspection, I noticed that one of the hoses to the ISV had a small split underneath, that was pretty much invisible unless looking v. thoroughly. Changed it and the car was completely cured. Worth a look.
  18. Hi there! Looks like a good 'un :-)

Nick, you could defo get these to fit. You may be able to find 70-57mm spiggot rings from a wheel supplier. If not, you could get a local machinist to make some up for you. When I was looking for new wheels recently, I spoke to a local machinist who said he could sort the bore both ways- bore out the centre if too small, or make up spiggot rings if too big.
  20. When they say that they've got buyers for your car, all it means is that people have signed up to their website and said they want a Golf. I've signed up before, and they send you regular emails everytime someone advertises the model you want with them. I still get emails now for Corrado's, Civics and 200SX's. Autotrader is vastly better, having a huge audience of potential buyers.
