  1. Right, have found out that the idle test value is 0.5% CO, and the fast idle is 0.3% CO. Failed it's retest AGAIN today, with similar readings between 0.33-0.39% CO on the fast idle. The regular idle, and everything else passed easily. I'm fast losing patience with this, and the garages. I'm absolutely skint and can't afford anymore work on the car. I reckon it must be the mixture that needs a slight adjustment, and I've found instructions how to do this (in Jim's idle thread) and it doesn't look too difficult. However, I'm crap with electrical stuff (multimeters etc) and don't have a clue how to use it. Is there anyone in the Glos/Bristol area who knows their stuff who could give me a hand with this please? Beer tokens available  Cheers
  2. Might need a bit of a whack with a hammer- don't hit the brake lines though! Did the trick on mine.
  3. Honda 'Pirate's Black' is a lovely colour. Looks black in dull weather, but has a fantastic dark purple/aubergine flip which comes out in the sun.
  4. lottysvdub, nice one- COME ON YOU IRONS! Let's give the Spuds a good old beating this weekend! peteTDI, K reg 1993.
  5. Khaki would be good. Just about the rarest Corrado colour around.
  6. Right, it's failed 2 retests with similar readings. Took it to my local specialist, who got a similar reading (0.36 CO). However, he's told me that the MOT place should've consulted their book as soon as it failed, because they have an older test machine. The book CO pass value for the 2.0 16v is 0.5! Anyone know if this is correct?
  7. If it's in really good nick, 94-95 reg, with history and no mechanical probs, I'd say £3K tops.
  8. MOT tester was talking about his Golf GTI, then said "Doesn't look anywhere near as nice as this though!" 8)
  9. Start easy and get a new expansion tank cap from VW. Then have a really good look around the engine bay for coolant residue (should be pink). Check the thermostat housing where it's attached to the head (right-hand side as you look at the engine, below the coilpack or dizzy). These can warp or leak where the stat has been replaced previously.
  10. I'm late to this, but wasn't this car discussed ages ago in the Karmann trip thread :?: :?
  11. They're both great, but very different. Overall I'd go for a VR though.
  12. Yeh, it's on top of the rear mount. Think it's the same on all models?
  13. Nice when this happens- well done! I recently had a very loud creaking from the engine bay, which lasted 2-3 weeks- it has just totally disappeared on it's own 8)
  14. Blake is the way to go. Mine's in there on Wednesday to sort the CO out for the MOT retest...
  15. Hope her brother isn't on here, with these comments  Puppet's mouth
  16. £70? Maybe less. Have a look on GSF and ECP.
  17. Blimey! 5.5% CO! I've just failed on 0.33%, and failed the re-test on 0.31% Slight mixture prob- everything else was spot on. They're being kind and giving me another re-test on Friday as it was soooo close. Going to my local specialist on Wednesday to get it sorted.
  18. Was done by the previous owner- here's the thread. The lights are now on Gazman's VR.
  19. Agree with the others about the gas-flowed head. Not worth it. Get the stem seals done, and it would also be worth getting the chains done with a MKIV tensioner/pad (if they haven't been done already). Which garage is it? Are they behind the petrol station? Got a quote for fitting some rear calipers which was pretty steep. Blake Services did it for half the price and have since done a lot to my car- been very pleased.
  20. Here's a pic of my old valver with the FK chrome edges painted black 8)

    Gearbox oil

Castrol SMX-S is pretty damn good too- cheaper than MT90, and you can get it from larger Halfords.
  22. Beat one in my first VR. Someone at work has got one- really nice car, although like with any VTEC, you can get caught out by lesser machines if your not in the zone.
