i know its been said numerous times, but just in case anyone finds this topic in a search, i fitted the cheapest mk3 golf motor i could find on ebay, £9, didnt look that simmilar, but shared the same type of plug, it arrived, and other than being a bit of a prick to figure out where it needed to start and stop, works perfectly with zero modifications once id got it figured out. Cheers, Pete

cheers bud, going to try and see if a mk3 golf one will work, looks simiilar-ish and appears to have the same electircal arrangement..... might be a waste of time, but loads of people claim to be running mk3 golf ones, and it was £12 delivered, so i figure its worth a shot...... otherwise i think ill just close my eyes and order a new one, be nice to actually be able to drive the car rather than fix it all the time.....

good shout sir... took it out tonight, first couple of times, it went through the cycle perfectly, then all of a sudden started doing half turns then stopping...... gonna try and hunt down a good known motor i think and see if it fixes it... either way, i guess i can now get the headlining back in, looks unlikely to be a cassette problem now..... random, but we're only in poole, so if you see a dark burgandy vr6 pootling around locally, give us a wave! :)

sunroof issues guys and girls.... Ive read a huge number of threads over the past day or so, but not found anybody with quite the same problems we're having..... with the motor, it goes back, but only an inch or so at a time, comes forward the same way. Had it out today, cleaned everything up, re-lubed it to the point i can wind it back and forward with the allen key using one finger, so im thinking it might just be a case for a new motor? I know they usually have issues with cables/linkages, anyone know any more than i do before i start hunting for a new motor? Cheers, Pete

Hi Stu, clips i need are these.... https://www.sinatec.com/catalogue/interieur/mounting-clips/vag-group/clip-audi-seat-skoda-vw-oe-535853832a-20pcs/_404_w_432_18544_GB_3 apologies for the link and not a photo, but im a little more than slightly inept when it comes to these things!! -
Guess ill probably get the same email tomorrow then!! I found them and emailed them today!! Im currently harrassing everyone i can find that breaking a 'rado to see if i can get one or two off each!! Im 6 short at the moment...... Good news is, ive figured out how to remove them without any damage.... push the centre pin through the middle until it falls into the scuttle (white plastic, ive got a dark car, so easy to spot) then just lift the clip out you know that the little plastic cups they sit in are (or were until i ordered all of the uk stock!! Sorry) available from heritage??

Breaking - '96 Blackbery VR6 Auto - *UPDATE 2* (first page)

does the shell have any of the white plastic scuttle clips left that havent been busted? Assuming you still have the shell?? -
Cheers Jim! ive checked at vw, both obsolete, although the grommets are available from vw heritage (part number 535853837 for anyone who finds this thread by google etc) for 80p each at time of writing, the white plastic clips are nowhere to be found...... sticking them on may well also be the route i have to go down. Frustratingly, ive actually got most of them, its just that i have some rust around the general area, so need to take them all off to repair and paint properly, after which there wont be any left that are as vw intended!!

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
nutter driver replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
Morning, just had a call from the missus saying she's just broken the drivers door handle, so im guessing im going to need a kit please! Can you let me know total inc postage etc, and ill get it sent over! Cheers. -
Good info, thanks. Initially thought it was the membranes, but checked both, and theyre all present and correct. Water is 100% coming in around the door seals as you can see where its been running down, so they're going to get replaced, just need to find out if the heritage ones have the lip on them for the door cards now! I'll have a quick look at the blower motor for leaks, wasn't aware that was an issue, so cheers again!

Morning all, trust we all had a good evening seeing the new year in? Went to check on the vr yesterday and was alarmed to see that the little leak that it had had for a little while had decided to get worse, much worse, to the point where there is standing water in the footwells, so I guess leaving them until later is no longer an option. Ive been doing a bit of searching this morning, and found this thread (http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?47111-door-rubber-seal-pic-request/page3) and seen that seals direct stil list it, but also found that vw heritage also now list the correct 'vw seal' which is also available. I know it's unlikely, but has anyone used or got experience of both? The vw heritage is a few quid more for sure, but I'm not overly concerned about that if they're better? All thoughts and experiences appreciated. Cheers! Pete

The Tyre Discussion Thread - please read 1st post
nutter driver replied to dukest's topic in Drivetrain
Nope, drives lovely!! although, to be fair, the last time it was on 'normal tyres' it had a right pick and mix going on, so i guess its not really a fair comparison. Also, bear in mind its on standard (albiet updated) suspension, so the ride is fairly 'comfy' anyway compared with many on here!! Anyhow, Ive ordered some 195/50/15 RE002 as suggested, some £20/corner cheaper than the 205's!! Hopefully theyll live to up the hype!! :) -

So interestingly, the Vredesteins are actually 195/55/15, so a tiny bit more sidewall than standard. Drives nicely, and grips well though, currently on (renewed) standard suspension. This isnt actually relevent to my current dilemma, but thought id put it up here in case anyone else was wondering about running simmilar!! -

No i hadnt, thats interesting, thanks. Funnily enough, the Vredesteins are actually 195 i think (ill check when i get home) so god knows WHY i hadnt thought of it!! Like you say, the cost saving is actually fairly significant too. Anyone got any negative experiences of running a slightly narrower tyre?? -

Morning all, Just about to sort some new tyres out for the vr, its running on the standard wheels, so been looking at the 205/50/15 bridgestone RE002 that everyone seems to rave about. Theyll be for summer use only as it gets to wear its winter wheels for the colder months (with vredstein snowtrac 3 on if anyone is interested. Been very impressed with them through the colder weather) if that makes any difference. Just wanted to see if anyone had anything better to recommend what with how fast these manufacturers bring out new tyres etc!! Cheers, Pete -
Guys and gals, Changed a cv boot the other day, and noticed the grommet where the brake pipe (been replaced with braided) goes through the strut has decided its not keen on life anymore and split into two. Obviously im keen to replace this, and had a look through my considerable collection of grommets and simmilar stuff hoping to find something that will work, but everything i had just wasnt even close. Are these avaialble from anywhere does anyone know? Prefrebly online, as i dont have much time to get out to motor factors etc I cant belive im the first person to need to replace them!! Cheers, Pete

cool, cheers guys, ill give new relays a whirl and see how i get on! Pete

Hi guys and gals, A few years ago, not long after we got our c, i fitted a 'uprated headlight loom' which has until recently been great. Obviously what with it being summer and all, we havent been using the car in the dark very much if at all for a few months so hadnt realised we'd developed a bit of an issue which was picked up at the mot...... For some reason the ns headlight was throwing a weird beam, mot man said bulb was in upside down, (he was wrong) and the os headlight main beam wouldnt work...... it also failed on some other stuff, so I took it home to sort it all out, and couldnt figure out what was up with the headlights.... im guessing ive lost a relay or something??? I unplugged the uprated loom and went back to the standard stuff and it all works fine, so no upside down or blown bulbs, but as soon as you reconnect the 'new' loom the problems reoccur..... For now, ive pulled the fuses to the uprated loom and we're runnning on the standard set up, but it does make a lot of difference during the winter etc, so it would be nice to figure the problem out and fix it...... Anyone come across these symptoms before?? Cheers, Pete

Guys and gals, My better half was on her way home tonight, wound the window down (drivers side) to the bottom, and then discovered it won't go back up. Passenger side works fine, clicking noise when you operate the switch for the drivers side. I've popped the dooryard off and carefully removed the membrane, the window moves freely in its runners, without any resistance. I've checked across the connector for the motor itself with a multimeter and I'm seeing 12v when the switch is operated, so I'm assuming the motor is goosed? Can anyone confirm if my logic is sound, or if I'm missing anything? Assuming the motor is dead, then I'm guessing it's a drill out the rivets to replace it job whilst propping up the window with a random piece of wood in the mean time?? Cheers, Pete
