I havent looked at mine in any detail yet, but i will need to soon. My guess is that you wont be able to do it without drilling out those rivets. The motor is part of the whole regulator / lifter setup. (That or its riveted onto the arm mechanism aswell). Either way, the regular is mounted into the door by those rivets - it wont come out without them off. As for holding the window up - Masking tape is a life saver. Run a few strips of that from the front of the window, over the door frame and back down the back of the window, give it some extra support.

Hi guys, silly question i know but there is a reason for it, so go with me on this one :) I have a very limited time today to go out and check my engine / gearbox mounts to see what condition they are in as i am getting a pretty nasty noise from the front end under load. I havent looked for them before, but i know where abouts roughly they are going to be. Has anyone got a picture that shows their locations? As i dont think they are blatently obvious as in some cars. Basically the plan is to see where they are now, so that i can pull out a blistering 5minute run checking them all out as efficiently as possible :) So as not to waste time hunting them down ;)

Recently ive started getting some nasty noises from the underneath of my C. I cant remember if they were there before i fitted the coilovers or not... Anyway, it sounds like a large knocking noise when i pull away in first and then in second, and occasionally in reverse. If im slow and soft on the clutch and take up drive slowly then it will be ok. Normally if im pulling away semi-quick from traffic lights / or to get onto a roundabout, I will get this clunk / snap noise from the passengers footwell area, and then when i release the throttle (either to change into 2nd / ease off) it will snap / clunk again (almost like somethings snappign back into place?). Its realy getting to me now as it means i cant make any fast getaways as it sound brutal at times! Anyone got any ideas?

I cant make my mind up about those lights! I was toying with the idea myself before MOT as my original ones had failed because of the chrome becoming dull... In the end i fell into some fortune when i discovered a corrado at the local scrappy and it had a set of brand new lamps on it (well, 1 brand new, the other quite good), so just took them for £20 or something similar and left it at that. I think with the brow, the angel eyes do look very good! But maybe too modern looking for what the corrado realy should be? I dont know. Hope thats helped! ;)

Yeah its not so much the interior rattles / creaks that bother me - its the rest of them that I dont realy like

My C has always had a few squeaks, rattles, little clunks etc since ive owned it - its never realy bothered me until recently! I fitted coilovers about a week ago now, and they have obviously made all of these noises more noticeable, and its starting to make me fret a little bit! So im just wondering how noisy other peoples C's actually are? Whether mine is something i DO actually need to worry about, or whether they are all pretty much like it without spending lots of money where it doesnt realy need to be spent... So come on :) How noisy is your C, and does it worry / bother you?

Ok so MOT was last week, it failed on a few things which have been now sorted - but it failed on the rear brakes and handbrake. Since then i have fitted new rear discs, pads, and callipers! However, i still cannot get the N/S handbrake to work properly. Both cables are free and both are pulling the ratchet on the callipers. The new callipers are recon ones so should all be fine, but what else could it be! The cables are adjusted realy quite far which they shouldnt be on new brakes... Im running out of ideas and i need it ready for MOT tomorow :( I dont want to have to fit new cables - they look like a right pain to fit! Anyone got any tips / tricks? I think currently the only idea i have is to slacken the cables right off again, pump the pedal and work the handbrake and see if the calliper ratchets will adjust themselves... but im not sure if they work on a ratchet system or not - i would imagine they do? Can you tell im stressing and panicing a bit?

Ive got the exact same problem at the moment with mine, failed because of the drivers headlight being too dim. Check the reflector in the lamp mate, it wants to be realy shiny and reflective, mine had almost turned to a matt finish! New bulbs did not help at all realy, made the lights a bit brighter but still MOT fail. If it is the reflector, your better off getting a set of new lamps, as trying to fix it is next to impossible without the right equipment!

Fitted new rear discs / pads / wheels bearings, took it for MOT. Arranged a new windscreen to be fitted next week and booked it in for its new MOT the day after. Oh, and took delivery of two recon rear callipers which are due to be fitted on sunday if i can actually be bothered. Fun Times

My names Dave and I have completely fallen for my 16v Rado 8) It has cost me a complete fortune in the 1 month i have owned it, failed two MOT's and is costing me even more next week, However I do completely love my

Do mk2 golf rear brakes or anything like that bolt straight onto a standard rear setup? Im asking because i desperately need a set of rear callipers for MOT and if mk2 golf callipers or similar fit, theres more chance of picking a set up than corrado ones! Cheers,

Yeah, i can see your point's :) Anyway, RAC man came out in the end because i had realy had enough yesterday. Learnt quite a few things should it ever happen again!

A pm would do... Im kind of stuck, and would realy appreciate any info. Ive had a coathanger inside now and tried lifting the stalk but the stalk will not lift up, all ive done is pulled the rubber top off it...

Ive locked myself out of my corrado! The only set of keys i have are sitting there in the centre console staring back at me!!! :( Any ideas? Im stuck without it!

Does anyone know what size allen bolt holds the rear calliper carriers on? Its a 1990 1.8 16v... it appears that my collection of 30 keys arent good enough! Cheers in advance :) Also - that gold "cap" that sits in front of the disc on the hub- how does that come off?

Not techinically today - but last weekend I; - Removed the N/S/F calliper, took it to pieces, cleaned the piston as best as physically possible, refitted. - Bled the brake system - (I actually have some braking now! Which is always a bonus) - Fitted a new headunit, so i can actually listen to CD's now - Re-Fitted door cards as correctly as possible - Fitted some door speakers and tweeters, so i can now hear the CD's that i can now play! - Located the place that is missing / has a sheared bolt in it that needs sorting for MOT... Think thats about it

I originally thought the problem was linked to my binding calliper, but i have sorted that out tonight and its still playing up, and ive also realised that it has the same problem when stationary. Basically the steering almost feels like it is pulling back against the way you are turning. Its not constant, its intermittant and relatively random. It just feels like something is giving a quick tug on the steering wheel the other way and you have to fight it... Is this a common problem? Anyone have any suggestions that may save me some time / money?
-
Yeah ive been banking on a calliper coated up with dust / rubbish. Will be taking the wheel off tomorow to take a looksey anyway, just wanted to check to see if there was a common problem that maybe needed looking at - it appears that the majority of problems seem to have a common background with these cars, so as im incredibly new to it all, i figured its worth asking lots of questions :)

Im getting a squeeking style noise coming from the front end, it sounds like the front drivers wheel. I think its somethign to do with the brakes, as when i put my foot on the pedal even slightly, the noise goes. But you can also feel it kind of pulling on the steering wheel when your going round roundabouts every couple of seconds... Just wondering if this is a common problem / if anyone else has had this? Or whether its just a case of getting the wheel off tomorow and taking a good old fashioned look for myself! Cheers in advance!

Thats the one! Awsome, thankyou very much! Here's to hoping its the only thing thats going to have to be sorted on it! Its due MOT in May lol

This corrado im going to pick up (hopefully) in a week or twos time has a problem with the gear selection between 1st and 2nd aparently. According to the guy, who seems very honest, it slides too far to one side or something ? Aparently the garage said it was just a split pin type washer that goes on the end of the shaft, he has sent me a picture and it looks like it makes sense. Is this a common problem? I would hate to be drawn into something that is more serious because im new to the cars... Any info is appreciated! Cheers!
