You should have popped up to the commentator booth and made yourself known. My Corrado was in the pit area for most of the weekend. :) It was an awesome weekend.

Last thursday night (April 30th) spotted a burgundy C near the Oxford services off the M40, it was about 22:30hrs. It was running on steel wheels, didn't get a chance to look at the reg etc etc

Wednesday 29th of April, blackberry (I think ) Corrado, L reg badged as a Storm with black leather. Spotted it at White Waltham aerodrome, parked between a 997 Porsche 911 & a 09 plate Scirocco.

On Monday 27th of April, around about 15:00hrs, spotted a dark blue C on the Marlow bypass, (he was heading towards the M4) it had clear rear lenses. Alas I wasn''t in my C at the time.
-
Spotted one on a Gmay motorway, just east of Aachen earlier this evening. Alas this Corrado was used for banger racing :(

Lovely car dude, as has been said higher up on this thread, silver really does show the cars lines. That is such a straight tidy and original car. p.s. How do y'all manage those sorts of mpg figures from your VR6's? I've only once managed over 30mpg, that was on a 180 mile gentle motorway journey.

Can't see why a big Dread-headed guy following, would scare him! I wasn't in my Corrado at the time either, I was in the daily hack Lexus & travelling sideways out of a roundabout to try and catch his attention. He may have thought he was being car jacked.

I saw a 16V in black today (well yesterday evening!) it had a for sale sign in rhe window, so I followed it (scaring the life out of the poor guy driving it  ) had a brief chat with him and took his number down. Will call him tomorrow and get some pics and details of his car as it's for sale. Would be good for it to be in the hands of another fan.

It looks really nice, keep up the good work.

I saw a dark blue K plate VR6 on the Waltham Road, between White Waltham and Cox Green (Maidenhead area) driven by a woman with big hair. She didn't notice me driving the other way in my Corrado. Anyone else spotted this car?
-
They made almost as many E types as Corrado's.... IMHO the Z3 coupe is a shockingly ugly car, paying that sort of money would be utter madness. Maybe there was a reason they only made the one.

I spotted this G60 at a retail park in Maidenhead about half an hour ago. I popped into Halfrauds and the car disappeared by the time I had emerged. Here it is parked next to mine: Anyone recognise the car? I think it reasonably local, a few tell tale signs make me thing it is a Berks/Bucks car

I am off to search now! I've owned some right old sheds and some stuff from the 1950's and the Corrado is worse than all of them. Thanks.
-
After about 5 weeks of Corrado ownership, I've just driven mine for the 1st time in the rain. I've seen snippets of conversation on various forums and heard conversations at various meets about how poor they are. So can some kind person in the know, give me a brief potted history of how rubbish they are and some easy remedies/modifications for them. Thanks.

Mine is dusty mauve and on a K plate, if it is good weather, I will be out and about in it on Sunday (12th) if I see ya, I'll wave. Not sure if this counts as a spot, but saw a Corrado at Oxford motor auction last Thursday, it was G plate 16v, in blue, grey cloth interior, keep fit windows, in OK shape (missing front spoiler) was taxed and MOT. It sold for £1150, is the new owner on here?
-
Well at least your car exsist, from where I was, I couldn't see anyone at the wheel. Maybe a ghost Corrado...... Neither of those are mine, as my C is dusky mauve.

I had an S2000 for a brief while a few years ago. No car and I mean NO car has better gearchange than an S2000. Magnificent. The brakes are pretty special too and a match for a 911 for stopping power. In many people's hands, the VR6 Corrado would be quicker cross country, it is much easier to drive fast and the power is more accesible to most drivers. But in the 7K-9K zone, the S2000 would leave the Corrado, but not easily. My one was in black with the full red leather and red dashboard (a theme for me  ) which was an option back in 2001/2002. Oh and if the roads are very wet, then no contest, Corrado would utterly muller the S2000. You'd be gathering up handfuls of opposite lock (which is nice when you're in the mood) at every corner. You have to be very careful about make of tyres and tyre pressures. I did 15,000 very very hard miles in the S2000 and nothing rattled or broke. I'd do another one tomorrow if I could.

Convertibles aren't really high volume full stop. In the UK there are certainly more spotted than anywhere else in Europe, it gives us a false perception. I travel to France and Italy quite regularly & convertibles are a rare sighting. Karmann don't build a high volume car for anyone anymore, no Corrado, Scirocco or even a BMW C/CS, old shape 6 series. Hell we've all done rubbish jobs to keep the wolf from the door, but building one of these, in that shocking pillow biter pink. Nissan Micra C+C retractable hardtop, 2005 :camp:

FRANKFURT (AP) — German auto company Karmann, which made the classic VW Karmann Ghia two-seater from the 1950s to the 1970s and also has built convertibles for Audi and Chrysler, filed for bankruptcy protection Wednesday, blaming the sharp decline in demand for cars for its predicament. Karmann said in a statement that it faced "insolvency in view of impending financial obligations." Osnabrueck-based Wilhelm Karmann GmbH, which employs nearly 7,000 workers, said the fallout from the global financial crisis and the sharp decline in demand for cars had undermined a restructuring plan it drew up last September. The company, like other auto makers, has been buffeted by a startling drop in demand for new cars from consumers reluctant to spend. That caused the company to cut 1,800 workers last year after it completed production of the Chrysler Crossfire model for the U.S. automaker, the Mercedes-Benz CLK for Daimler AG and Audi AG's A4. In a statement, Karmann said it aims to reorganize and restructure its operations with an aim toward preserving its future and the jobs of its workers and would continue operations. It has facilities in Germany, the ****** States, Portugal, Mexico, Britain and Poland. Karmann has been in business since 1901 and built the Volkswagen Beetle convertible, a job it undertook in 1949 after its factory, destroyed during World War II, was rebuilt. That was followed by the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, a two-seat, low-slung convertible attached to the chassis of the all-purpose Beetle that was manufactured from 1951 to 1976. It later built versions of Ford Motor Co.'s Escort line and Renault's 19 convertible. In 1995, Karmann designed a retractable hardtop roof for the Mercedes-Benz SLK that slid back at the push of a button. Karmann also worked with South Korean automaker Kia on its Sportage sport-utility vehicle When Wolfsburg-based Volkswagen AG reintroduced the modern Beetle, Karmann was tasked with building the convertible, version. Since 1949, the company has built more than 3.3 million cars.

That is great skills demonstrated there. :) -
The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Ugly Bloke replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Replaced the electric seat switch, (height adjuster switch) and oiled the rear spoiler as it wasn't quite doing as it should. It now raises at 45mph-ish, sometimes it doesn't return to the low/park position though. -
Just the one. So far....

I wish the lad a speedy recovery and I hope that he has learned his lesson. I know many teenage drivers are responsible, but many are complete clowns at the wheel. The insurance companies know this, hence high premiums for inexperienced drivers.
