  1. naaaaaaah, got it out, im sure i can get it back in, im not paying some one when my mate is an audi mechanic lol. its just that its in a long list of jobs that need doing, my mk2 golfs more important at the mo cos its a bit easier, just needs a clutch mot n tax, rado needs engine, wheels, mot, tax, heater matrix.....
  2. haha, it just seems very tedious, but i spose once its in the engine bay everything will seem a bit clearer
  3. so after i wrote my white kr off, mate of mine brought his rado round to have my engine transplated into his, we removed both engines, then my mate ran out of money, so i brought his rado from him, with knackerd engine, for 180 quid, which was a bonus, but now winter has passed, my white rado has left for the big scrap heap in the sky, now the weather is sorting its self out slowly, i need to put my engine in the new rado, and i just cannot remeber how anything went together, ive got a big jumble of bits from both engine bays. the job just seems tedious, and i cant be bothered with it, i have help and all the tools i would need, but i never have the time as im a chef and work weekends, i just cant see this happening in the next decade if im honest, any one got any advice???? cheers baylez
  4. yeh big noise and big mess, hopefully repairable. yeh the wheels were bargain but ive now gotta find another one to replace the one that exploded when it hit the kerb.... made it too bug jam in the end in ma mums mk1 cab but it werent the same not drivin :( hopefully gettin my act together and gettin the the poor thing sorted, already sorced a shock and a wishbone, just need a hub, drive shaft, cv joint, wing and door, o and wheel.
  5. so thursday before bugjam, ive tried referbing my knackerd bk rims, failed, so i sprayed my venoms black and put them on, looked good, then my mate rings me and offers me the porsche 944 rims he tried to sell me but now for half price, i accept, put on my new rims and take my mean machine out for a test run before the convoy in the morning, bit wet so im taking it steady checking the wheels out.... and then, ball joint drops, hub explodes, shock snaps, drive shaft snaps, and anti roll bar, tie rod just hung in there, wings knackerd, doors pushed back.... and ma rims are ruined....... :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:
  6. had to be done, no paticular order, excuse my spelling: 1. origional mk1 gti 1.6 2. carrera gt 3. veyron 4. mk2 motorsport g60 limited 5. r32 6. new rs6 avant (twin turbo v10 jobby) 7. that new lighter more powerful lambo 8. lupo gti 9. passat v6 tdi... 10. my all time faveourite car since i was a boy.... a mk2 golf 16v, 3 door, black, red trim, quad lights, bbs alloys i cant see the point in putting a rado as i have one already, and if i wanted one with a better engine, id just have it in mk2 golf form as its lighter
  7. i was just thankful that it was only a hundred bucks more than my gti 8v.... yeh my insurance is a bitch cos i never got no claims from being on mums policy, and theres the small matter of the 3 points for being heavy footed
  8. i wouldnt complain, id love quotes like that, im with Fluxys (its nice and conveinient, there up the road from me so i can pay cash and drop paperwork off) and im paying £2100 3RD PARTY FIRE AND THEFT!!!! and im 20 on a 1.8 16v
  9. lol ok enuf of ripping the unlucky git. i do like the thought of him sat in it spinning the steering wheel like a kid making "brum brum schreeeeech" noises with his mouth while his missus pushes it around. hmm maybe he wont run this one out of oil and water and petrol and electric all the time (and all at the same time once). any way i think this started as a thread about my ride lol. digifiant, any one know about this conversion on the 16v lump??? i just cant stand all them pipes that come with k jet, its not pretty in the engine bay
  10. lol i think dan needs a new eninge.... again, not only has the knackerd gasket pitted the block, and the stem seals are knakerd, hes also just found a bust piston ring and a bit gash in the barrel....... so its 3rd engine time.

  13. lol yeh i see his shock i was gonna try and help him change it but he lost his locking wheel nut adaptor. yeh i also bypassed his heater matrix for him aswell cos it was just pissing all over the footwell. back to mine though, yeh i need to get ma head under the bonnet i think, the 16v looks a bit scary compared to my nice simple 8v gti. but pay day shal be the day i learn about my engone, when ie got all the gaskets and stuff
  14. yep thats pricey, yeh its off the road again cos the new engine is burning alot of oil and steamin the water away, had the head off and its still got the origional headgasket on there, well it dint look much like a headgasket after 150,000 miles lol. yeh i got the car on the 3rd of this month, brought it as it stands now from a gug down bottom of fairstead, for i nice round £1000... bargain. im a dub guy ne way, still got ma mk2 gti sat outside rusting lol.
  15. ure mate dan wouldnt be pricey by any chance wud it? his is off road at mo, having the head sorted lol. yeh i used to live top end of north bin, now back at mum down marsh lane. my dads got a knackerd old blue 16v aswell. there was doker at kl engines (vr6) with the porsche brakes, think hes sold that now though. o small world. so far ure the only person ive seen in a corrado when ive bin in mine but yeh there are a few about. s my poor old engine needs a bloody good service, wen pay day comes around ill do all the gaskets, filters, plugs and sensors and fluid change.
  16. yeah i need too freshen her up a bit, ie; re do-do both number plates, only keeping the wheels until tyres are knackerd, fake split rims really aint kool, (any suggestions on wheeels would be good as my wheel knowledge is poor), close up there are a ton of dents down the doors and the paint job is real naff but for the purpose of photos and from a small distance, its clean enuf. i quite liked the eyebrow thingy, might toy with painting it, but i think ill definatly keep it. now u mention the fogs, they are pretty yellow. i still havent figured out this quoting buisness, but was it you i saw in north bin at the mini roundabout with the green rado and the enthusuastic wave renson? and it still has starting problems lol, i think the isv int kicking in sumtimes, it trys to idle thden just stalls, wierd
  17. yeah, i definatly wanna make the engine bay as pretty as possible, and my house is like a vw museum, weve got 2 old skool beetles a new beetle, a mk2 golf and a bay here aswell lol

    first week

    nice one. im startring to get better mpg now ive calmed down abit lol. the oil light hasnt done anything for a while, and the oil level is fine. but the water temp keeps raising too high and wont go back down unless i kill it and leave to cool, and sumtimes when starting the engine from cold the watertemp light stays flashing even though theres not a problem with temperature. well as soon as ive bin payed again, ill do myself a big service, oil, filter, plugs and probably cam belt. is it worth flushing the water system and starting that from fresh? and how hard is it too wire in a manual fan switch

    first week

    Right so ive had my 1.8 16v C for just under a week now, definatly a completely differnt car to all the golfs ive had, it makes u feel special to drive it. now i know the performance on a near stock 16v is nothing to brag about, but its got power more or less every time u need it on todays roads. the handleing is out of this world, far better than anyhthing ive ever experienced. but now for the small problems that are cropping up, as expected when i onl payed a grand for her; . oil runs alot hotter than i would expect (100 degrees area) . water temp ran little warm on for a while but hasnt doesnt since, but i expect that i ewas my sister redlineing it infront of her mates while i was in mcdonalds . havent had the mfa read above 18mpg yet .oil light flashes and beeps occaiosanlly for no reason and then just goes away .power steering belt needs a tighten (but i had a mk3 diesel so im used to that) now obviosly ive checked the oil and water and there fine, i havent noticed any leaks or dodgy smells as of yet, i just wonder whether im worrying over nothing as it is 18 years old, and i do expect the odd problem, id just prefer it if there were no problems. any help wud be much apreciated cheers baylez

  22. i just heard of a very quick cheap and easy way to get a turboed 8v from a scrappy.... 8v pb block from mk2 golf, or g60 block, or even the kr block 8v carb head from any old vw 1.6 turbo diesel manifold from mk2 golf all bolts together nicely, i havent used this yet, but i know of someone that has may times.

    1.8 16v

    how much of an increase am i gonna get from the kr engine, im planning 9a block, gasflowed head and inlet, and stailes manifold and threw to the back. might add cams at a later date. have searched but im probably not typeing the right things lol cheers
