rookierod replied to volksworld13's topic in General Car Chat
im in cornwall, st erth (hayle) just got a 2ltr valver with sutle mods, but outbody has seen better days, saving my pennies to get it sorted thou. there is also another g60 local here, he is on here i think his name is tim -
fuel filter? maybe could be starting to clog up and restristing the flow of fuel?
-
a lot of people are saying there isnt any gains from rapping it as a waste a time, but i havent done it myself so never no.
-
its just the 1600 cvh on efi. we atually got a 1.1 mk3 that use for our cheap runaround and its just gone straight through mot (had do shocks n f-r brake pipes first) mrs wanted to make the runn around cool, but cant be assed with the spraying bumpers n that as not worth it, so was woundering if its worth doing as long as not rotten right out. dont mind a bit of welding as its free to do myself.
-
also cus he wants the wheels i have a spare set of 15" mk6 escort si alloys with motable tyres on from whitch were spares for my stockcar but cus building a new car i dont need them so could slap them on

i no prob wont be any ford lovers here and i ant a fan of them. but that does pep think to mk3 xr2i. i been offered one from a mate for 100 quid without the wheels. just bout to run out t&t. only prob is headgasket was leaking oil from side of the head, he has put stop leak in and it has seemed to stoped it for the min. is it worth mot n floging on as dont seem to see many left on roads or in the scrappers nowdays. cant rem the millage, it black tinted lowered etc, obv it had a beating but but looks smart enough. it also has a pair of mint recaro seats in it. cat1 alram etc. is it worth doing to make bit pocket money on? would have to see if headgasket starts leaking again wether to change gasket before flog it. i may be lucky n not have to. obv gonna check make sure not rotten underneath, but is it worth a go and still mot on, what a average nick one worth nowdays?

i keep seeing a black g60 in hayle in cornwall is parked outside the salt bar a lot to very nice motor
-
thanking you. looks like just gonna bit the bullet and rebuild lump as put up with the lil oil leaks and burning of bit water but not crank seal has totaly gone. pain in ass
-
hi stupid question but im price up the parts for engine rebuild, what is my engine code? car is a kreg 2ltr 16v. thanks and sorry for the stupid question
-
yeah that what i thinking, anyone got a rough idea of parts cost? can do all the work obv except from skimming. just trying to talk the misses into the idea of rebuilding.
-
also would need timing kit to and may as wel chuck in a krcam to. but is it all worth it. just dont want to buy a lump and the couple months down line it starts knocking. plan on keeping the car for a while.
-
hi as we only have the corrado on the road atm i am now getting my ass in gear to sort out and mot the wifes fiesta as gonna take the rado of road for a lil bit for some tlc. it has been slowly drinking water for a while now and got some oil leaks but the crank seal has now gone badly. so im gonna do crank seal sump full head gasket set, skim etc is it worth doing rings and bottem end shells to or not? the lump has done 156k and still running nice except the leaks lol. but am i better doing this or just getting another second had lump? wheres best place to go for my gaskets etc? car is a late 2ltr 16v
-
i grinded down the pully so got some good clean edges. do u mean get sum moleys round the bottem on pully arms? i think the spline to f**k now to get of so gotta make my mind up to wether cut it of and risk it or just leave the normall wheel on. lol
-
i didnt need to take that off as both times i done it the bearing stayed on the coloum and not it the housing. i dont mean to highjack the thread but how do u get the spline bit of the end of the rack and i have had a go with a 3l pully and have tryed beating it off with a chisel on the lip at the back. i just cant seem to get it off, and i dont want to cut it off as i have been given a wheel n boss from a mk2 golf and wish to put it on my scirocco but do want to damage the spline to much if it doesnt fit when i get it off and be stuffed lol
-
if it is the same as my old mk2 n mk2 scirrocco u have to take the steerinwheel n wiperstorks etc and there is a pinch bolt that will hold the barrelhousing inplace and it will then just slide up off the steering colum. im not sure how the barrel comes out as i have never had to take one out the housing. not sure if this will help but you never no lol

hello i tryed the secret mfa mode today for the first time and i am not getting much up, i can only get my actual mpg, oiltemp and outside temp. and thats it both mfa1 and 2 are the same, no digi rev etc. anyone got any ideas? is a late 16v i have. my old golf use to do it but rado doesnt do buga all?
-

-
hi looking to get vagcom set up, for that dreaded day when have problems. i am a bit unsure thou. has tryed reading up but still cant find out, do i need the usb-16pin and the 16pin-2x2 cable? for my kreg 2.0 16v? what other things apart from fault dia can you do or is this all it does? thats ian
-
as the title where can i get one and how much for my rado? is any extra realys involed? is it easy enough to make one up, i am fimilar with basic wiring as use to wiring up my stock cars
-
get a small engined mk2 golf mate as still plenty mk2 gti's rolling into the scrappers so could pick up set bumpers and archs. cheap set 15's and slam it on springs, then you got yaself a cheap runaround while still looking good in a dub.
-
they are easy enough to do yourself, the tubes are probly some sort of jb wled (liquid metal) as the eyebrow needs to be put on by being stuck, i just used an outdoor no more nails type gear
