  1. You are right about the 96mph limit, people often say 100 but I got caught at 94 on the M3 and the guy told me I was VERY lucky and explained about the court appearance + instant ban (and the towing away of your car!!!). I've slowed down in the sights of a roadside camera a number of times and never been done. The cameras work on lasers so chances are you will be ok - a lot of the static cameras (where someone stands and holds it) are paired with the BMW/Merc traffic cars so if you see one of those and think you've been done, turn off the road soon and you will know you're unlucky if one follows you! After about 3 weeks if nothing has come through then you should be fine.
  2. Thanks for the heads up, sadly its my best mates Birthday do so I won't get along - would be amused to see what B.H.P. a stock car is pushing out after 15 years (guessing about 110ish - its still goes well). I often head through Steyning on my random excursions over the downs; the road between the Steyning, A24/Washington and then off up to Bury Hill is a favourite if you know it? Ill keep my eyes peeled and there seems to be a fair few Rados locally - maybe think about sorting out a meet over the summer? Be nice to meet people in the area and there are plenty of spots to chose from.
  3. Its not TVR stuff, but quite similar looking - a lot more purple and no green in it. Sadly I haven't yet managed to get hold of the paint code or details from the bloke who had it done - expense is a major concern but its almost all in top condition still so I'm just going to work on keeping it that way! Ironic that you should say you're going to be on the A27 - you might be able to see my car if its the venue I think it is!!
  4. Yeah it was in Guildford. I only chanced upon the car after someone pointed out to me that insurance was about the same for 2.0 and 1.8s and I opened up my search for these too. Car hasn't had any real problems and the paint is a lot better than the pictures he had put up for it! Sorry if I stole it from under your nose - good luck with whatever you get/got too! Rado ownership seems to be excellent fun, if a little problematic at times.
  5. I think I'm talking about the right thing when I say it was under the inlet manifold yeah. I'm not sure how but it was the plastic T-shape piping where the top radiator hose is sealed to the engine block, and another hose flows away underneath. I think it was partially perished from age but the whole thing had just split away, leaving the seal still on the engine and both the other pipes still connected properly, pouring my coolant all over the hot engine, hence the steam - not as bad as it initially looked in the car park. Managed to get the part from my local German Swedish French, along with a new dip-stick holder, which I snapped while I snapped getting the plastic out. Paid only £4.00 for the pair!! Its all fitted now and I've filled the coolant back up to the top, squeezed the top hose a few times to suck it through and filled it up again - tried running it for a while this morning and nothing steamed out of any holes or smelt too hot but I don't have any decent manual (eg the Passat 9A one) yet, so I have no way of knowing how to bleed the system or indeed if this urgently needs doing? I will need to find some way to replace the water I used with proper phosphate-free anti-freeze soon too...any help there? Thanks for the tips. This is the first car I've ever owned that I have actually tried to take things apart and fix them myself so try and be as simple as possible please!! Thanks again.
  6. Think my rad hose has just blown - stopped in a car park but no warning lights came on and then smoke came billowing out of the bonnet. Its dark so I cant see too clearly with just a torch but it looks like the big hose running from the rad under the manifolds on the drivers side of the bay is at least loose if not completely split. Has anyone else had this problem and if so should I be looking at anything else except replacing the hose (I'm hoping it was just corrosion and an unlucky bump) The car is a 1992 2.0 16v running standard engine set up. Any help and advice on where I can get hold of a new hose would be really useful. Thanks, Simon
  7. I'm new to owning a Corrado, but having read this thread before hand I can now understand it a bit better - in the first two days I had the car outside the front of the house (obviously giving her a full clean, right down to a toothbrush in the harder to reach places) I had at least 10 people stop and take a proper look, a few even came up the drive to ask me about it! Noticeably the ones who actually stopped to ask were all between 35-60, but still I think this gives me the right to wear my Chufties Badge?
  8. Impressive transformation, hopefully I can begin to make tracks in the same direction! Where did you get the polished rocker cover and inlet manifolds? I might look into getting some myself it they aren't too hard to track down? Keep up the good work, nice to see another car saved!
  9. Yeah thanks, I was equally surprised - only went to see the car as another comparison really and it had to be mine. Engine is stock, interior is also almost standard, hes put some tweeters in and I'll probably remove those at some point and get things looking to my own taste. I'm definitely going to change the wheels at some point, but as they came on the car they will stay for now. What did you mean by Monoblocks specifically, the only ones I've seen are Brabus Mercedes wheels? I was thinking perhaps some wider rims, not quite chrome but close, in no rush to decide yet!
  10. Feel free to pop over and have a look at the car if you want, just let me know with a PM. (I won't be around from Tuesday until the end of June) Just given it a clean round under the bonnet and the interior etc, found a few more trim bits that need replacing/putting in but as yet it still seems to be a very good buy. Still need to find some info on the PAS and its settings, and possibly consider finding a new drivers seat as this one has a rip and some wear. Maybe I'm just being picky now!
  11. Hello all, Have just become a Corrado owner after years of waiting, its a K reg 1992 which was originally white but has been custom resprayed "Blue/Red" (In different lights it goes anything between Purple and Gold!) It has been lowered 35mm and put on 16" Matrix Alloys. Car was a good buy and I'm hoping to keep improving the little bits that need it until its as good as it can be! I am in the Worthing, West Sussex area and would quite like to get involved with the club scene if there are any local meets at all? Would also be nice to meet some other enthusiasts who can give the car a more expert going over. Ideally I'd like to get hold of the guy who had the main work done, so if you see this please PM me! Simon
