How?

I don't seem to have a message from you in my inbox

I'll take the throttle body!

Did these sell?

Don't worry I just bought a set of febi bilstein head bolts from eurocarparts. Should have been £33 but they are doing 25% off car parts so I got them for £25 delivered for free!
-
Where would you recommend getting bolts from ? I get discount at gsf but have heard a couple of horror stories regarding soft bolts. What I'm stressing about is the torque loading procedure, to set it to a required load and then add half a turn is very alien to me being from an air engineering background.

£20 posted?

Ok I've just bought and engine and I'm going to do the headgasket and chains etc. my question is whether or not I should fit ARP head bolts or just go with standard stretch bolts? The reason is based on the price of course ARP = £200 and OEM = £30-£40 The plus side for ARP is that they are reusable and also the torque loading of the OEM stretch bolts scares the crap out of be me to be honest. Are there any other major benefits to using the ARP bolts? BTW the head is fitted with a piper 264 cam and is ported and polished although I'm not sure if it is a relevant factor?

Yeah that was what I was going to do until I bought this on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181088457345?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 The head and block have documented mileage and it has a piper 264 cam so I think I got a bit of a bargain. I'm going to use it as a short term solution but fit new chains, gaskets and water pump etc. I'm going to strip my 2.9 and keep the pistons in case the 2.8 needs a rebore in the future. I am still in the market for a verified low mileage gearbox but if one doesn't appear I'm gonna get a full rebuild on mine.
-
ok thats, good, also i'm new to rebuilding an engine with oversized pistons, can I fit a standard head gasket or will I need one with a specific bore size?
-
I'm really interested in these, just wondering where I can get piston rings from?
-
Hi all, my 2.9 engine is on its last legs and my gearbox in whining (louder than my wife) in first gear and its time to find a replacement! What I'm looking for is a good condition engine and gearbox that has a verified mileage and condition. I'm not limiting myself to what type, it could be supercharged, turbocharged, 12v or 24v. I've tried the usual eBay route but everything I've looked at seems to be vague in description and has no evidence on condition. I have cash waiting but I'm not willing to say how much at the moment. I'm steadily rebuilding my car from the ground up and to be honest I'm not in any rush but if the right engine/gearbox combination comes available then I will buy it. I'm based near Portsmouth and would prefer to view items before purchase but I'm willing to travel a fair distance for the right item.

Deal, pm your payment details. I take it that it'll fit a vr6, I think they are all the same?
