Speak to Steve Denton at Premier (PVS) 01604 604004. They regularly fit wide rims to Golf/Rado's ie, 8s and 9s and I'm pretty certain the green VR6 with B16PVS plate is running Porsche splitrims with either 9.5s or 10x17s at the back! Your arches will need to be rolled/flared, you'll have to stretch the tyres on, and you MUST have the correct offset for the width of wheel you're using ie. for 9s you must run low ET 15-20 to clear the struts. BTW, Sukh with the Westside Corrado is running 10x16s so it can be done!! HTH

Daz> how you doing mate? Are you staying 4 stud? The only reason I ask is that Michael from MJ's might be tempted to part with his WRD's if you're interested - I think his are 9x16 all round! I love the Porsche Cup splits (previous UPS Rado rims) in 9.5x17s, or RH splits.. Depends also, on what overall 'look' you're aiming for ie. if the car is staying TT/nimbus grey, with tan leather etc then some polished TT competitions tucked into the slammed arches would look awesome imo!! 8) If I think of anymore nice rims, I'll let you know........
-
i think the best person to help you might be someone like 8vg60 (Darren) from g-werks. Not 100% sure where he's based but I'd be willing to travel a little for someone you can trust imo! HTH 8)

You can buy the mirror film that people use for this, it's made by Foilatec. HTH

Mine's definitely not a show car!!

Aren't the 4 stud Audi wheels 4x108PCD, whereas VW is 4x100?.... :?

Thanks for the tips guys. I was planning on running samco hoses anyway, and Emiels Mk3 was one of the cars i'd seen and looked superb in the engine bay. Also the red Mk3 VR6 supercharger on PVW cover has done this. Like Kevhaywire says I don't want to mess about with it too much if it's gonna cause probs as the car will need to remain a daily driver. It's goig into a Mk2 Golf btw, so I thought while I do the conversion it would be a good time to tidy the engine bay!! 8) Keep the advice coming guys!
-
Hi guys I've seen this done on a few euro cars - makes the bay seem so much cleaner/minimal but are there any downsides to doing this? Also, which rad is recommended if doing this ie. BMW 328 etc. Has anyone on this forum done this?... TIA

Beavis> what did u make of that genuine 2.0 G60 Mk1 Golf at the Brum ClubGTI meet? That is running an EIP tuning crank, Ross pistons, Eurospec head, R1 charger, Rallye-spec i/c etc etc....should be getting mapped soon, he's hoping for about 260-270bhp with silmilar torque!! 8)
-
Also came in 6" I think??.. :?:
-
I'vw always like the Design90s, esp when 8" all round as they have the 1"lip - also they polish up very well!! The forged version (Silver Rose edition 944) were only 7" and 9" I think and are v difficult to get hold of....a mate has a set of 9's on his Mk2 Golf!!....
-
Nice one Darren, your C looks sooo tuff, keep us updated mate....... look forward to seeing the finished article!!
-
I thought 18's might be too big for a Rado, but that looks sweet!! Very nice and subtle, you got any pics of the fitted fridge?...
-
Good work fella!!....be careful not to post anything too incriminating tho, you don't know who might be reading?.. Nice to read of a TWOCer getting his come-uppance for a change tho!!! 8)

My golf is standard 4stud so I'm running the H&R adapters which convert from 4x100 to 5x130pcd. The adapters are 25mm thick so lower the offset by this amount but the Porsche whels are ET52 standard, so with adapters they're ET27. The only Mk2 Golfs you'll see with 5 stud will be the ones that have had a VR6 conversion and the owner has decied to keep the 5 stud running gear, but even then they're 5x100pcd. HTH

I think it's the timing chain service/replacement (80k-100k)? that is the big bill afaik? Someone on here will know for sure, but I think it's a gearbox out job, so adds to the time/labour...? HTH

Rado16v> that C looks about perfect to me!! Stunning! :thumb right:
-
LOL! got some of those as well mate, they'll be my winter rims!!
-
One of the Westside lads has them on a Burgundy coloured Rado...I'll try and find some pics.. HTH

Sold my 9x16 Brocks to a Golf Rallye owner, and finally stuck my Porsche Design 90s on...... Whadya reckon?...... The car seems to pull so much better due to the light weight of the Porsche alloys, I was really surprised....didn't think it'd be that noticeable?!?! :?: ...Oh, and I've already been called a 'pimp' at work!!! 8)
-
What about a 2pc snooker/pool cue?.....the butt/handle half could do some serious damage........I suppose the tip half could aswell, if you chalked it and poked it in someone's eye!!   :thumb right:

Volksbits also do them...£10 a pair IIRC?.. 8)

Look nice mate, but I would stick some silvervision bulbs in for the indicators. Looks like they've got the orange ones in giving it the 'fried egg' look!! 8)
