  1. Hi, Found a late headlight switch that was originally purchased from the 2012 Groupbuy done by 8vMatt. This is a tried and tested replacement switch that whilst non genuine has proved to be just as good as the original.   3. Suspecting the one on Laura's car to be dodgy, so looking for one please! Bought on from ECP just to test, but they seem unable to supply one with the right connector.... Did they change the sensor in the 95 models? It's a factory VR6, so standard ABV not a random VR out of a different car. Cheers

    16V PAS Pump.

  7. Evening, Got a fuel leak on Laura's corrado that seems to be coming from the external fuel pump seal. Ordered a new seal, and going to attempt changing it sooner rather than later. I'm guessing I need to drain the tank before attempting this, as the pump sits at bottom? Any advice on the best way in doing this? Looks to be held by 3 screws, anything I'm missing? Cheers Ross

If you want to replace the brake lines, either make them up yourself (use Kunifer as opposed to Copper) or take the old pipes down to your local decent motorfactor who should make you some up at a reasonable cost. I've just swapped to mk4 rear calipers on girlfriends Corrado and I didn't prebleed the rear calipers. I bled them, and then left them over night and then rebleed them. This overnight wait allows any air trapped to work its way up to the top.
  9. Finally fitting the rear beam back onto Laura's car and purchased some new nuts and bolts. However, the nut refuses to go onto the bolt very far, it's not cross threaded, it's just incredibly sticky, beyond what I think would be normal. Both nut's are exactly the same. It doesn't seem normal to me, given that they should just spin on, or is there some fancy tapered thread going on that I've not noticed? Could it be just poor machining on the nut's I've got? I know there standard M12 x 1.5 Pitch, and I've got some 10.10 stainless nut's I could use instead. Cheers
  10. The Project totally stalled as I just didnt have enough time to tackle it, despite getting half way through and taking Laura's car off the road! Anyway back on it now, I've removed the old bushes from the rear beam thats being refurbed, any tips on getting the new ones in place? I was going to just hit them in with a club hammer, but I fear that maybe a little brutal! In the process of removing the old rear beam, I've discovered whoever replaced the hard lines back in 2007 with copper ones did so with whatever random assortment of fittings were available, some metric, some imperial. I'm trying to get the short flexi line unions undone that go from the hardlines on the rear beam to the chassis, but struggling with access. I'd ideally not have to replace these for now, is acess easier if I undo the shock's and let the rear beam lower itself? Finally Don't suppose anyone fancy's giving me a hand to get the job completed in exchange for much beer tokens / food / general karma? Laura's patience is starting to run out, and given I've disabled the car by getting it up on axle stands for the last 8 weeks I'd like to get it done. Cheers :D Ross

Finally getting on with this job, and getting the rear beam refurbished, just wondering if I need to order anything else from VW before I finalise my first order of many! 2 x Axle Mounting Bushes 2 x Anti Roll Bar Bushes 2 x Securing nuts + Bolts for mounting rear beam. Some brake pipe mounting clips and handbrake mounting clips. Ta!
  13. Just wondering if anyone's got any recommendations to get a rear beam blasted and coated locally to Coventry, it's for LauraJ's car and I'd like to get it sorted as quickly as I can as she's desperate to drive it again! Cheers ross
  14. Hello All, After LauraJ discovered today that her rear beam is bent, it falls to me to get it changed! I've had a fairly comprehensive search on here, and It doesn't look like to much of a big job (love basic german linked suspension!) However I've got a few questions still! 1) What other rear beams are changeable? Laura's car is an early 1990 1.8 16v, It's got no ABS, and I'm under the impression a Golf gti beam will fit too, but will anything else of the same generation (Jetta, Passat etc) 2) It'll be heading for a full alignment again when it's done, however the place doesn't think there's any adjustment on the rear at all. I'm under the impression rear geometry was setup from the factory, by setting the brackets that hold the rear beam on, If I whip the rear beam off, and leave these alone, should it be a case of just fitting the new beam? 3) Going to pick up a seconhand beam and shotblast then rebush it with standard VW bushes, anyone got a cheap dealership to get these from, seeing as Leamington seems like a waste of time. 4) Is there anything else I need to consider ordering before I undertake the job? New bolts etc? Apologies for all the questions, It's Laura's car and I obiously want to minimise the time it's off the road and make sure I do a decent job :thumbs: Cheers Ross
  15. Spotted a Green VR6 this morning on the A429 @ Fossebridge. I went to overtake, and you put your foot down and left a lovely cloud of blue smoke, so I thought it best not to encourage you to cause any more engine death and followed you upto Cirencester. Ross

  17. Hi Thanks for the reply Supercharged, the beam doesn't look bent at all. So would it be ok to remove all that bent up metal if It's to be replaced? I'm guessing that bearing protector is part no is 191501639A - Covering for models with disc brakes - I need to order a new split pin anyhow. The Wheel bearing was recently replaced, would it be ok just to repack it with Moly grease and reuse or worth purchasing a new one? Thanks for help! Ross
  18. I pulled my drivers rear wheel off this afternoon to investigate why it's been sitting with far more camber then on the other side. I initially suspected the rear stub axle was bent ( As was suggested to me when I bought the car for my girlfriend) however now I've got the disc off there seems to be evidence of an old bearing race still there.... More Pictures I'm really not clued up on VW rear suspension, so I'm looking for a few pointers here. I'm guessing that the wheel bearing shouldn't have come off in different parts, so i'll need to change this again? It was changed for it's MOT last Saturday by the previous owner. Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers :D
