its only when engine is running, so im assuming it would more likely be the gearbox release bearing then :) any ideas on what the cheepast way to sort it is? are we looking at changin the box?
-
whenever i recently depress(push down) the clutch i hear a rubbing noise ive had a few people suggest it could be different things - any ideas? the nosie only is audible (and feels a bit rough on the pedal) when i press the clutch down - never in neutral or in gear thanks, rob

have just agreed purchase of a full grey leather corrado interior, except without front seats obviously im gonna keep and eye out for a pair (offers?), but failing that anyone know any alternatives that'll fit straight in and colour-match?

levels seemed fine yesterday but after leaving it standing overnight they dropped hugely. topped up and its fine now, cheers for that

this week for some reason the car was overheating (warning light flashing etc.) and i realised the fan had somehow disconnected its power cable, so i reconnected it (although not until the car overheated and water was pissing out the overflow valves....) after topping the water up and reconnecting the fan the problem seems to be sorted and its running fine, but the temperature warning light still flashes constantly after the car has been running a few minutes (even though the water temp is reading about 80 degrees and oil about 100). any ideas?

anybody in bristol fancy making a few quid?
robtalbott replied to robtalbott's topic in General Car Chat
off the top of my head its the central locking, blowing between the downpipe and the cat, electric mirrors, rear wiper not sure how imminently i need all of that doing but i could definitely use getting the central locking sorted as i want to add a proper full alarm/remote locking kit -
got a few odd jobs needing doing on my corrado - central locking dont work properly and a few other bits. im too busy with things to sort it out so is there anybody local who wants to sort it for me for a bit of cash?

Hi, the fuel pump has gone on my G60 I believe. The RAC guy got it working once by hitting the fuel tank to 'unstick' it, but it has since died completely. Problem is there's several different pumps on eBay, all stating they are for a G60 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-for-VW-Corrad ... 234wt_1054 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-for-VW-Corrad ... 234wt_1054 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-CORRAD ... 853wt_1165 Which of those should I go for? Many thanks in advance!!

horrific squealing and loss of power steering
robtalbott replied to robtalbott's topic in Engine Bay
fluid looks good so i guess its the belt. easy job? -
my g-lader started rattling today, sounded like either maybe a bad bearing or some other rattle (gets worse when revved) ive taken it off and sent to g-werks, little worried though. whats peoples guesses - is this a sign of it being in need of a dire rebuild or do you think i've killed it? :S i've only had the car running 2 weeks after 6-years standstill, a rebuild was on the todo list but was hoping it would be ok for a few weeks until i could justify the cost...

can you recommend a good chip mate?
-
about a week ago the power steering (i assume) started squealing a bit on full lock (similar sound to a fan belt on its way out). this has now degraded rapidly to the point which it squeals whenever you try and steer either direction at very low speeds or standstill, and the steering goes VERY heavy and jerky. this happen to anyone else? diagnosis/easy to fix? also, would you continue to drive the car in this condition (is it likely to cause more damage)?

hadnt really thought about it much, is a remap necessary? im all up for increasing efficiency but i'd rather not tinker with too much that'll effect economy as 27mpg (which im averaging at the moment) is bad enough as its my daily driver! thoughts?
-
do you think it's worth the extra money to get it ported to stage 4 or just stick with standard rebuild?
-
hi guys, i have a 76k g60 which hasnt ever been g-lader serviced, so im gonna get g-werks to do it (standard i think). will i notice a performance increase from this? or is the servicing purely to make sure the charger doesnt blow? also is it worth getting it stage 4-d? or would you stay with standard (will the cost difference be worth it)

my corrado is leaking water badly - both the left hand front and rear footwells are soaking wet car has been sat for 6 years and we thought we'd sorted the leaking all out but it seems not - we re-sealed the cover for the heater inlet under the bonnet today so fingers crossed on the front footwell, but im not sure that's causing the leaking in the rear footwell as theres a lip between the front and rear footwells any ideas?

im thinking of buying some borbet alloys (7.5j & 9j x 16" with an offset of et15 will these fit on a standard g60 without any modifications needed? also will i still be able to lower the car with these or or will they rub?
-
nah mate its a g60. are green M-reg storms particularly liable to this problem? ;)
-
my brakes were really spongy and you could press them flat to the floor so i bled them (te fluid was ancient so i put a good litre or 2 through i think) and it cured the problem. only thing is it's now gone back to that again from being really tight, ideas? i take it its losing compression somewhere over time as the garage also bled them when doing the MOT last week it's worth noting this car has just been back on the road a week after 6 years of outdoor storage

sorry forgot to mention its a g60

got my corrado going finally - after a hefty bill! one thing ive noticed is that sometimes, particularly in 2nd, if you hammer the throttle at low revs youll get an immediate 'kick' then the power will violently drop for about half a second, almost as if it was just about to run out of fuel, then the power kicks back in again. any ideas?

After changing an indicator relay today (due t dodgy indicators) my car wouldn't start. We jiggled a few of the relays around and still nothing, so we took the fuse board out of its clips to have a little look around all seemed fine. We then started it again, started fine. Then we put the fuseboard back in its clips, this time it wouldn't start and the horn comes on constantly when you turn the key. Took it out of its clips again and gave the fuseboard a bit of a shake and put it back in, now it starts again fine. Anyone have this happen? I take it it's dodgy connections or something? Car's been stood for 6 months before we started work on it.

Anyone got any suggestions on head units that look right in a corrado? As in matt black finish, not lots of flashy lights etc. i've seen the nakamichi ones, they look like they're of a style that wouldn't look too out of place, but they're quite pricey for what you get features wise (although i'm sure they sound amazing) i've got a alpine head unit at the moment in my focus, but i think it would look a little too silver/shiny in the corrado dash

GSF have them for £67 each (for pre 93 model) - mine is a 1992 g60 would you recommend buying a new pair or is it ok to just put 1 new one on the one side?
