Hi need help with my valver please. It has developed a problem the last few months and not sure what it could be. Car runs fine normally but when stuck in traffic and gets hot it starts idling funny then cuts out. Its then a pig to start. When you try staring it the fuel pump goes crazy u can hear it turning off and on and the rev counter jumps up and down. If it does fire up it sounds like its on 3 cylinders then cuts out again. I normally have to leave it for 15 odd mins then after that all is ok. Any ideas please?

Cool cheers guys guess 205 45 it is then, tried the willtheyfit.com and seems the 45 profile is almost spot on. Will put pics up when i get them on

I've had my 94 valver for around five years now and its time for a change. I have the standard 5 spokes at the moment but have recently bought some bbs rx2 16 inch rims the ones off the golf cabrio for it. The suspension is standard so was just wondering what tyre size i should go for,do i need 205 45 or can i go for a larger profile as i guess 45's might give a harsh ride?

no not yet mate was hoping it might be sumthing simple like a hose which i could change myself.wishful thinking i guess! do they often need there timing sorted out then?
-
my valver keeps drinking petrol which ain't good with the price of petrol the way it is at the mo! ive changed the lambda sensor, oil is clear, plugs are good etc etc. ive heard the vacuum hoses are prone to splitting on the rado's. has anyone got a pic of what hoses i should be checking? thanks. also the exhaust gets quite abit of soot on it so i guess it must be running a bit rich.
-
nothing in the boot the tyres are fine and the oil has been changed around every 5k so crystal clear. guess it must just be the shortish runs. mite take it for a blast up the motorway to clear out the cobwebs and see if that does anything. would be nice to get abit more mpg as the on about puting up petrol again the robbing t****rs!

i travel 11 miles to work and its pretty much b roads most of the way so not to much start stop as i leave home at 6.30am. cant find anything in the history to say injectors have been changed but the cars only done 68k.
-
not personally but looking at the history the last owner had a new isv and throttle bodies cleaned about 15k ago,its has no mods either that might make it use more. maybe it just needs a tune up? the emissions must be ok to as it passed an m.o.t 2 weeks ago.

seem to be getting about 25-26 mpg out of my valver which im sure cant be right. had the lambda changed at the weekend and no difference.the lambda was slightly white my mate said a sign of running rich, also get black soot on the exhaust. any idea's what else might be causing this.

cheers thanks for the help will get one ordered.

was having a little clean under the bonnet yesturday and noticed what i think is an earth has snapped. it sits on the top right of the engine bay and connects to the bonnet does anyone know what it mite be for?

got my insurance sorted last week went with esure after direct line put it up 30% this year. got my valver insured for £320 no mods and can do about 10,000 miles a year. rang round loads this year not many came close to that price its tough out threre this year for us c owners.
-
just rung an insurance company 'hi can i get a quote'...'sure what car is it?'....'a vw corrado'....'a what?......'vw corrado!'.....'huh whats one of those?' anyone else had this before? made me chuckle.
-
the guy said it sits on top of the cat so u need to drop that part of the exhaust, maybe he was just making a mountain out of a molehill!
-
looking at changing the lambda this weekend on my 2.0 16v,got chatting to a garage about it and is it right you need to drop the exhaust in order to get to it?also do you need a certain tool to do it?i thought it was just a 22m spanner. any advise would be great.
