Hi people, i have a couple of questions please! First.... does the new 3 stage rad switch just plug/screw into the new rad, or do i need a O'ring or a bit of PTFE tape??? Also i have read the cooling guide, but i am still unsure to what is best/ use a bit of silicone when rebuilding stat housing or just put together with just the rubber seals alone??? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

He might not of liked my face  but i did try and blag him and still got nowhere after parting with £380 for a rad and some plastic bits and switches :mad2:

I have just been robbed! Bloddy dealers have just sold me a new rad for £200 inc vat! :bad-words: And all the sensors, stat housing, rings, where a bit more than the prices people have paid on the fourum in the past! The guy did tell me VW have just had a price increase!!

Yes, great thread! Most people are great at pulling things in bits its the putting them back together the way we found them thats the hard part! I am on with a few jobs soon with the cooling system and photos like this give a better insight, make's what i have to do a look a whole lot easy!

I looked a car from a forum member on here when i was looking for a corrado, and to be honest it looked in really good condition. The bloke stated in his advert that he had done a bit of a shoddy repair on his rear arch before i went to look at it! But after viewing i did think to my self if this guy is such an enthusist why was the job not done right in the first place. But i do now understand that a lot of people do plough a lot of money into there cars and do get fed up of doing it after a while. I would defo make clear that the car needs work on your advert, and make your pictures as clear as possible and if they are dissapointed thats not your problem! But you already know that.

Ahh, thats what i was looking for thanks!

The time has come to overhaul my cooling system, car is still running a little hot and i have a small pool of water directly below the thermostat housing area every now and again! Please i am going to undertake this job myself and would be grateful for all the advice i can get, i have dabbled a little with cars and i dont mind having a go. I have had a look for the thermostat housing parts list and cant seem to find it, i am going to order a new OE radiator just so i know its covered, i have also just got a new OE 3 stage rad switch along with some G12+ coolant! I want to get it done before the end of march before the hot weather comes. What sort of money should i budget for all parts, all tips and advive very welcome.

LOL mmmm i must admit i am getting sick of looking at it in the garage.

Well thats sort of my plan... run the polo for a few years and build up the second car NCD then buy a second corrado, something i wont mind too much about, i mean how cool would that be! But who knows prices might have shot up buy then.

This is my daily drive! 1.0 litre 123000 on the clock! FSH runs like a new'un :luvlove: lol. Got a lot of time off in march so "BUD'C" will be out and about. To be honest i thought there was more of you out there with daily runners and your corrados tucked away. I only bought this to keep the C a bit more preserved.

Garage is built on side of house! Breaze block internal walls, stone on out side. New build house so radiator was fitted incase another room was needed.

fighting a never ending battle with rust and corrosion!!
vagman replied to volksworld13's topic in Exterior
From my experience once the rust gets in there, while treated it will only stay at bay for so long. To be sure of ridding it you have to chop it out! A heated garage helps  -
Do you live near Clitheroe by any chance? I don't use mine daily as I have a works van, it does live outside on the drive though as I've no garage :( I dont live there but i have a 10mile drive to work in clitheroe! But you know where i am coming from
-
You guys must be on to something here! I would love to drive mine on a daily basis but i work for a well known cement company and if i was to park on the works car park it would ruin my C! The chimney puffs out what they call stream but thats not all it pumps out, it sort of leaves a dust over cars and when it rains its even worse, it sort of etches onto the windows and paint which is a nightmare to clean off! As for parking it up all winter, i have been out in it the odd days but all that rain, salt, and snow has got to take its toll over a garaged car has it not? But you will know soon enough as i will be sure to post on here for advice on repairs

Nice, i am a big fan of that yellow corrado colour, almost bought one before mine! Very indvidual.

Well i am ready for summer, this will be my first year with a corrado as it was bought in october! Dont know about you guys, but as mine is in a heated garage over the bad months its all ready to roll  but i would like to say this to you guys and girls that run yours all year round, i take my hat off to you all :notworthy: I sit here and read all the problems whether it be breakdowns, stolen C's, vandalisim, genral wear and tear, accidents. Not sure if i am worthy or ever will be worthy of the true corrado enthusiast title, but for those of you who are, you are the ones that keep people enthusiastic about corrados! So who else only plays out in the sunshine! And who of you drive come rain or shine???

About to buy full Milltek system for Storm - any thoughts?
vagman replied to sprinterVR6's topic in Engine Bay
To be honest i could not tell the difference and i dont really rag the vr about as much as i have with cars i have owned in the past, i dont know what it is with the corrado, i sort of respect it too much! Plus there is the fact that i dont have two or three grand or whatever it costs to rebuild it if it goes BANG! But i have only drove my car once or twice since fitted, i am sure there will be a slight increase in power from a standard exhaust. The reason it was purchased was because my centre box was bodged with exhaust putty :nono: -

Thats one of the things i noticed about my milltek, or should i say, did'nt notice much more noise than the standard exhaust! But as i am getting older i dont do the big bore noise thing anymore! -
DIY BBS RS001 OEM with 4X100 redrill another 5X100 bolt patt
vagman replied to corradog60stage4's topic in Exterior
Fortwo Smart cars comes with 3 studs too. :notworthy: They might well run 3 studs! But how much power? And cornering force? Its simple, does it look safe.......... dont mean to be funny but where talking 3 studs not three wheels, or two..... or one for that matter. I would take forum members advice on this. -
METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
vagman replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
Dont even want to think about some cheeky c**t stealing my car! I know its a bit sad but i will be using the carrado like i use my motorbike, dont mind driving it around but i wont let it out of my sight for long. Like wise, hope you get it back without to much wrong with it. -
Dont know how hard it would be to de'tint the windows, not my cup of tea, imo the car would look a lot better without it.
