  1. Damn you, I was worried you'd say that! I am going to have to source some now because I think the G60 I was going to get them off is an Early one. Actually, it is a left hand drive one too if that makes any difference. I can go with that plan as I have an early 16v to test fit wider arches on. So any ideas on when the change over happened on the G60 so I can identify if it has wide arches or not?
  2. Ok, after noticing the thread "Difference between early and late front wings?" I have seen a potential flaw in my carbon front wing project. At the moment I am trying to sort a deal to make a set of tools to do some G60 wings - only because the are the only ones I can get hold of at the moment. I am not really in a position to make loads of tools especially if there is a small demand for one or the other. So which wings do I go for? Do I need both? Opinions welcome.
  3. Winner! I will PM you my details. Is it humpy or humpless?
  4. £160 posted dude. I forgot to look into the cream leather for you, I will get on it tomorrow.
  5. Ok, another little development. I have been talking to a guy who apparently is the UK's biggest manufacturer of surf Kayaks. He is fairly tooled up, and after a long discussion a couple of things came up. Firstly, he is looking to immortalise some of his hand crafted designs in CAD so that future designs can be modified from a digital pattern - which would be totally irrelevant if I weren't a CAD designer! Hopefully, all things being good, I can exchange my CAD services for the manufacture of tooling to make some wings - which would otherwise cost a substantial amount of money. Secondly, we got to discussing materials and he said they use kevlar in their kayaks and he thought it would be very good for the job of car panels. And of course he has sh*t loads of it there too, along with glass fiber and an assortment of other bits and pieces. If this is as good a connection as I hope, by getting the tooling it will allow me to experiment with the differing materials and asses how light I can get the parts while maintaining rigidity and strength. I am enthused by this new contact. I can get tooling made to a standard I wouldn't be able to achieve and then either sub the work to him or potentially get involved myself. The main point is the guy is tooled up with a wealth of knowledge. He was even considering buying a G60 a while back so maybe I can persuade him to get one thus increasing his interest further! I am going for a lie down now because his premesis was vapour central and it feels like I have just done 20 bongs through petrol.
  6. Hump or no hump is your interior type i.e if you have a back seat bench that has a hump in the middle (arm resty thing that holds the first aid kit). The hump extends out a bit over the tunnel and covers the bit I have been trying to trim. The one in the pics is from a no hump interior! I once I have re-done this one for Dragon G , you are next in line ;)
  7. Is that the only differences in the tunnels? Back bench Early / late , Hump / no hump? I just want to make sure there aren't any other unexpected derivatives. i dont think its solely late or early as the 8v i believe have no hump whereas the VRs do. But you're right afaik the difference is only with or without a hump. Cool, cheers bud. I am going to try and get one of each style in preparation. I have promised the first to Dragon green so who else definitely wants these?

  9. I am always a little nervous about the idea of trimming parts removed from your prides and joys so to play it safe I propose the following - I will get hold of a center tunnel of the spec you require (is yours a flat bench or a humper?) and trim it. On completion I can send pics and if acceptable (no doubt they will be) then I can send them to you in exchange for your tunnel. I know it sounds like a bit of hassle and you may feel that it is unnecessary, but I think I would be happier doing it this way. At least then if I f*ck it up, I won't have knackered your property! If thats cool, I will go ahead and get a tunnel to get to work on for you asap.
  10. Lol! Yeah, F1 wing might be a stretch but it should look pimp. I have my work cut out for me at the moment as I have a load of trimming going on, freelance CAD design work, my day job and also this investigation into Carbon moulding! And the carbon moulding will be for 2 products too (front wings and rear spoilers). I love it tho, keeps me entertained!
  11. Awwww, ur too kind :notworthy: I have run myself out of glue but once I have got some I will tweek this one and you are welcome to it - if you are still keen?
  12. Thats good to hear mate. I am always a little concerned about peoples expectations of quality because even though this may not be as expensive as an MJ interiors trim ( I am assuming this. . .) it is still a fair wedge of cash.
  13. Cheers dude. Glad to hear it. This being the flat bench version makes it much harder to do because of the recess - a humpy bench covers where the recess is and gets rid of the need for all the difficult seamery.
  14. Ok, had another go and my fingers are beginning to ache from pulling the material about! I have probably re-cut this 6 times now and to be honest I think it can be better still. What do you think?
  15. Don't get your hopes up yet! My main issue at the moment is finding a place to do this work. I have a couple of options currently so I am optimistic.
  16. I have potentially sorted a supplier of the carbon (and its a great supply! I will reveal more once we are a bit further on ;) ) and I am in the process of sorting a facility and equipment to do the job. At the moment the guy is away until next week so I won't be able to firm anything up until then. It is moving, but as fast as it can outside of a full time job and alongside freelance work too! I am dead keen tho as it will be another skill for me and like I said, the material could be top notch so watch this space. . . I will keep this thread updated a bit more even if it is not progressing so those interested stay informed.
  17. I robbed this from matey-matey.com - this refers to point 3 on your list the on board boost gauge. The other values do have meaning, I will try to dig them out for you. The boost levels can also be checked using a boost gauge function on the MFA (Corrado only). Use the following procedure: Start engine Move the MFA selector to "2" Press and hold the MFA end button (keep holding) Stop engine Start engine Release the MFA end button. Press the MFA End button one time. You should now see 550-750 readings fluctuating with idle. Anything higher than 750 is probably not right (a vacuum leak possibly?). Much less than 550 is probably too much timing advance. Run the car to the redline in 3rd and 4th gears noting the highest readings you get Running a standard 78mm pulley you should see 11psi if the charger is in good nick but a charger with a smaller pulley should make more than 11.6 EURO Hg(#'s of boost/vacuum) 200 - 23.7 400 - 17.8 600 - 11.9 800 - 5.9 1000 0 (Atmospheric pressure, charger is bypassed?) 1200 2.9 psi (You have a major boost leak) 1400 5.8 psi (Your charger is in very poor condition) 1600 8.7 psi (Your charger would benefit from new apex strips) 1800 11.6 psi (Good for stock pulley, needs new apex strips if 68mm pulley) 2000 14.5 psi (Good for 68mm pulley on stock charger) 2200 17.4 psi (Good for 68mm pulley on heavily ported charger) 1000 is atmospheric pressure, at idle you should have a vacuum (numbers below 1000) and under load you should get boost ( numbers above 1000 according to your pulley and charger condition). So it looks like you have a vacuum leak at idle, but what are the numbers like at re-line in 3rd gear?
  18. Yeah, that seam line really piss*d me off because once I had done it I was like- "why didn't you just do it straight?!". Ah well, sometime you don't see these things until they are on there. Pattern making is 90% trial and error 10% skill.
  19. I had a play this evening after a totally sh*t day of company training - so making some progress cheered me up! It isn't quite there as I am going to move the seam line so it isn't so shonky (definition of 'shonky' : something that is a bit sh*t and wonkey). Ignor the slightly wrinkly and lumpy bits - it was done in a bit of a hurry as I have had some freelance design work dumped in my lap. Mustn't grumble, its all dollar I spose. I will have another go tomorrow, Will definitely nail it then ;)
  20. Cool buddy. I will have a play with some door cards as soon as I can. I love doing this kind of work and I am keen to have a complete trim in someones car one day - but alas, there are only so many hours in a day!! If I could sack off my job and freelance, believe me, I would!
