HI all, I have had a search but I can't see anything similar to my problem. I have just replaced my dials to get my MPG working and also to get rid of the annoying oil pressure light/buzzer going off intermittently and all was well. . . . . until I took off and realised the instruments were not lit. The MFA display is lit however. Any thoughts? is there a fuse on the cluster that supplys the lights only? Thanks in advance.

You got a pic dude? I thought you sent me one but I can't find it. I am after some deep dish rims for mine (or maybe my golf). What size are they?

Congrats, my valver went through with no issues the other day too! Only to be pulled by the bacon for the stupid fake german plates yesterday. Bugger.

That sounds like a good idea. Would getting a power cable down inside one of legs be possible? I don't know if its hollow or not. Might be starting to increase the cost though but sounds like something worth looking into. I am fairly sure a wire could be run down one of the supports. I will look into it. -

I reckon I can do summit ;) The thread has spiraled into something entirely unexpected so it will take a bit of research and planning but I am keen to try some variations. I reckon the way forward is for me to get a mould made of this spoiler. Then I can create GRP parts to cut and tweek. If I get some time next week I will 3d scan the spoiler on the back of my car. Then I can do all this stuff in CAD and do some renderings for 'appraisal' from you guys. That will definitely yeild results faster than cutting up and fillering GRP. I wanted to incorporate some 3d scanning into my portfolio so this will be a nice little project. Thread to come!! -

lol! Brilliant - I need to get on this carbon thing! I just had a little chat then with my moulding geezer and he gave me a ball park calculation for carbon fiber front wings and came up with a figure of £300 for a pair. He wants to do a proper calculation on material usage but that is the number that came from a quick calc. There is always an opportunity to do a carbon - glass mix lowering the material cost and still lightening the component. What I might suggest to him is doing some tester parts to establish their comparative weight to steel panels. GRP panels are often a bit of a farce as they are often the same weight as the standard component. In the case of the drift kits this guy makes they only want a disposable skirts that are inexpensive and replaceable. I guess the good thing about this potential setup is that they can be tailored to your requirements. -

Ha ha, brilliant, we have a 3 way mis understanding! OK - I originally meant a carbon spoiler (the up and downy auto-spoiler) Having described it as a 'wing' I then got interest for front wings (panels) Now you have the the wrong end of the carbon stick as you are thinking splitter!! Pretty funny - but it shows that if I can make a carbon Corrado I will be minted. -

Totally agree. £150 is way out - but like I said, he's not got the same mentality as me when it comes to stuff like this. So say £75? does that make it an offer too good to refuse? - we're on spoilers now peopes, I will get back to you tomorrow on carbon body panels! -

Holy Sh**! Its all about the wings! I will talk to my mate that already moulds jap bits and see what his thoughts are on the wing front. -

Not really, I asked my mate who does a fair bit of moulding (drift kits etc) and he said he wouldn't want to do it for less than £150. I think he's exaggerating a fair bit and probably thinks he should charge £40 an hour to do the work. The reason I did this thread was to find a price and then work back to see its feasibility. It may not be possible to achieve a competitive price compared to retailer products but I have one advantage - my margin can be want I want it to be. It is how I approach my freelance work - assume my free time is worth nothing. What else would I be doing - sat on the corrado forum probably! Sorry to put it back out there but there is method to my madness . . . . . -

Ah, thats interesting. I wasn't aware of variation between the models. Yeh, I'll probably do it myself with assistance from one of the guys from work. -
Hi all, as the title suggests this is a bit of a feeler. I have a spoiler left over from a 16v I broke over the past year. I don't see that anyone will want this part as it is not really a part that fails (correct me if I am wrong). With this in mind, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a lightweight moulded carbon fiber version? If answer to question 1 is yes - what money would you want to pay for it (so I can price materials and see if it is achievable) It has also been suggested (cheers davidwort!) that a slightly bigger but OEM looking design could be crafted. What are thoughts on this? Mods - it this is an inappropriate place for this kind of thread feel free to move it. Edit - changed it to spoiler cheers jim for pointing that out!! Cheers, Chris

Sweet. Nice one, you have alleviated my concerns! I will sleep easy now.

Ok, I have had it looked at and the garage has traced down the steering column and UJ and has identified that the movement is coming from the rack. I have a 2.0l rack + UJ that I am certain of the milage and also have a 1.8 rack on the way (that I don't know the history of) just in case the 2.0 has any issues. So just to make sure, the 2.0 rack will fit the 1.8 Corrado if I also swop the UJ? I won't encounter any problems with the PAS pipes or the UJ attaching to the steering column? Sorry to ask, but its going in Thursday and I don't want the bill to be any higher than it needs to be because of unforeseen shizz. Cheers.

Anyone about?

Just wondering if anyone goes to these things? I am visiting my girlfriend in Chichester this weekend and was going to go on the sunday. Its not a VW thing but my taste isn't limited to german cars and I expect many of you are the same. If anyone is about it would be good to meet ya. http://www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfast-clu ... tober.aspx Oh yeah, it's free too!

On the whole Hamilton Webber ting, totally agree that it was a racing incident and both parties were at fault. But here's a thought. . . Hamilton didn't have the line and shouldn't have assumed he was clear to take the corner apex (or near to) especially considering the championship race and the likelihood of Webber yielding to him. But at the same time Webber didn't yield and stubbornly defended the corner to the point of making contact therefore being involved in creating a racing incident. Now you can take Brundel's comment about him not really being able to stop but I personally don't really see that. So, it's totally 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. But Hamilton paid for his decision with a fooked car and Webber drives on and its just a 'racing incident'. I kinda feel like in those situations a contributor to the incident should also get a little slapped wrist, maybe just a drive through ;) Just something I was thinking about after the race - probably would make F1 less interesting and probably spawned from a fierce dislike for Webber but I thought I would put it out there. PS - I thought the track was a bit poo too. Seems like more of an F1 novelty than a good track. That being said a track that increases the likelihood of a shunt every overtake does appeal to the sadist in me! We all like an F1 prang. . . don't deny it!

legend. Thanks for that. I will get it all looked into.

Hi all, I am experiencing a little problem with my steering rack on the 16v I just got. The front wheel bearings have just been replaced but there is some 'vagueness' when the steering goes from straight to turning left. It feels like there is a split second where the rack is not turning the wheel. The track rod ends are fine so I guess it can only be the rack. I have a new rack from a 2.0 16v (Are they the same?), but I won't be able to fit it for a while, but I was reading that there is some sort of 'tightening' bolt on some corrado racks. So my question is, has anyone experienced this kind of steering feeling? Could it be temporarily resolved? I have had a look through some of the previous posts but none properly describe my situation.
