Coulstar...if you get a black set. How much would you want for your blue set? I'm assuming it is a full set? If not I might be up for buying a set in the group buy or just the clips. Will have a think.

Nice one lads. This is sounding like it could be expensive but a good few things for the garage to check when I'm getting my mot done in my mates place. Hopefully nothing for him to fail it on though.
-
spring or shocks could be a possibility as I've only replaced the back ones. any of this sounding like a potential MOT issue?
-
so assuming i'm ambidextrous...it's looking like a dodgy steering rack possibly? what makes you say that? how much does a rack cost then, fitted? hopefully it's the camber but it doesn't pull to a side when driving.

I don't think this is in my head...if it is I'm going nuts. It seems that turning left seems easier than turning right...in that a bit more force is needed to turn right. The car drives straight and true with hands off the wheel so a bit weird. Any ideas what this could be? Got an MOT on Saturday so hoping it's nothing potentially serious.

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
joeyboswell replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Fitted new lighter housing, fixed mirror switches, took passenger door apart to fix a rattle and fixed door light switch. Mirror switch was the best fix thanks to the helpful hints on here. Wash, polish and wax tomorrow. -
Bump strip on drivers door came off. Haven't got around to stripping the old tape off and re-applying the strip and the inevitable happened yesterday...some absolute turd has put a ding in my door. First ding on the car and I'm less than pleased. :censored: :censored: :censored:

received new brakes. seen i had an mot in 2 weeks. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=92039&start=30#p1111976 -
back in liverpool for the weekend and noticed my MOT expires on the 12th. :censored: got loads of things I was planning on doing but now this will just get in the way and mean I probably spend on stuff I don't want. good job i've got a mate who owns an MOT place but that means I'm driving back up in 2 weeks. anyway...got myself some 288s off ebay for much cheapness. Am i right in thinking that I just need the following now: 3) Calliper slider bolts and sleeves x 4 4) Carrier mounting bolts x 4 5) 2 x front ABS rotors (where fitted) 6) Front flexi brake hoses - either Goodridge, VAG or DG Autotech x 2 7) Front 288mm discs x 2 8) Calliper rebuild kit - if buying used brakes Caliper Rebuild Kit (For Golf VR6 1997/98) -VW Part no: 3A0698471 - Set of seals = £12.51 inc vat, per side. This includes the Piston Seals & Piston Dust Covers 9) Fron 288 mmm Brake pads Hopefully I will get them cleaned up a bit (not much spare time) and painted and get them fitted probably after I've failed on pads and bought new! Do these look like they are in OK condition to yous?

Think it even says to warm engine up on the move, not on the drive, in the handbook.
-
heatshield isn't going to help his dodgy gear changes though. two problems and two possible solutions. get some good gearbox oil in and put a heat shield on. hopefully these will cure everything.
-
got a good one from costco that sits in the boot. it looks bigger and even has a mounting bracket if you wanted to mount it somewhere (which i don't). was about £15 if you've got a costco card.
-
I put mt90 gear oil in my vr and it drastically improved the gears.
-
is it that one in the link? says every other model except corrado so just checking. Just seen it is in the corrado section so ignore me. Wouldn't mind a new housing though (cos the catch has snapped) but could just tape it in.
-
will do that then mate if I ever get a spare minute. will check ebay now in fact.

Disastrous Clatter From VR6 - tensioner bolt causes rebuild!
joeyboswell replied to MikLSP's topic in Engine Bay
It's silly money but I'm sure you could get it cheaper than 4k. It's another option though but to be honest I really like the standard vr6 engine so will probably just get the chains etc done and then maybe look into a charger or turbo (just maybe)...at least the engine will be more solid for mods. Sorry to hear about your car mate but I supposed it's just forced your hand to do what was inevitable anyway...and do what I'm putting off. Hope it all goes good anyway and it isn't as bad as it sounds. -
Disastrous Clatter From VR6 - tensioner bolt causes rebuild!
joeyboswell replied to MikLSP's topic in Engine Bay
24v engine? I'm gonna have to get my chains, tensioners and thermo sorted soon and I'm wandering whether to pay the grand or so for replacing it all (including clutch) or whether to get a 24v transplant or r32. mmm. decisions! -
Same problem at the minute. Need it for phone / sat nav. It has been loose from day one but is now not working. Not fuse as interior light etc is working. Anyone know how much they are for late rado? Any for sale?

Working in Runcorn for 8 weeks - anyone wanna meet?
joeyboswell replied to djmac56's topic in General Car Chat
lucky you! runcorn for 8 whole weeks! I'm from Liverpool but just moved down to London but about a month ago I drove past a rado around runcorn. Sure there's someone from that neck of the woods on here. I had a mate from Copenhagen who was stuck in runcorn for a summer (at some kind of chemical plant) and he sounded similar to you...think he was climbing the walls until he realised liverpool was down the road and met some local runcorn folk. good luck anyway mate! -
And is 25mm the best width tape to use?
-
The strip on my drivers door is coming loose. It's getting worse so I need to do something about it. I don't really want to take it off, strip the old tape off and reply it (the proper way to do it) so any advice on a quick fix? Can I just put some of the tape one where it is coming away and press it down?
-
Nice one Abdul. Will keep it in mind for when I've got some dough! Managed to through more money down the drain today by reversing into a bastard of a foot high curb. Lucky I'm running standard suspension so came off lightly with a nasty scratch\gauge to the bottom of the bumper. Gonna try to sort I myself until I get other stuff sprayed. Suppose I should be happy that I haven't incurred any other rado style costs!
-
I picked some front ones up off eBay and they have rears. Could get them cheaper than dealers.
-
Southern fairy my arse! I was hoping someone would know a good garage by London but suppose it will have to be stealth...at least it will get taken care of from what I've read on here.
-
Well I've only went and got myself a job in London (soho) starting on the 14th! Moving into my birds mums in Potters bar until we find a flat. Got a potential cheap flat in hampstead heath lined up but might not happen. Will probably be in Potters bar for a month or 2. Any forum members in that area? Any good garages in that area or at least around London? I want to get my cooling system done (for the traffic), chains and some other bits and bobs so any recommendations would be well appreciated! Are prices higher down sowf?
