Fitted mine this evening. Fiddly job but well worth it! Nice work - cheers Dave

Hi Dave, I'd be interested in one of these. What email address do you want the £££ sent to? Ollie

Just as a note to future people I checked fuse 3 and it looked fine but tried a new one in there just in case and everything is back to normal. Ollie

Recently by dash lights and switch illumination just stopped working. I've checked all the fuses I can see and changed the headlight switch in case the rheostat was dodgy and nothing. If I bridge the sidelight feed to the illumination wire (grey/blue) everything works ok. Can anyone shed any light or know of anywhere I can get a wiring diagram? Thanks in advance! Ollie

If it's creating too much pressure in the rail it would let more fuel in when the injectors open. It's a long shot i know. Have you tried putting some cleaner in the fuel?
-
Could be the regulator on the fuel rail. When the tank is full the fuel return isn't working so it basically floods the engine?
-
I've had this problem on mine and it turned out to be a kink in the plastic fuel line near the tank. I'll try and take a pic over the weekend but worth having a look. They're pretty well protected but there are some vulnerable points and I think they get less flexible with age. Maybe the extra weight of a full tank makes the difference? Ollie

The annoying loose handbrake tunnel cover - a solution!

Hi Dave, I'd be up for one of these. Can you PM your payment info? Cheers Ollie -
This thread is full of great info, my sunroof works perfectly with the crank handle but using the buttons the motor won't open or tilt. Motor works if you take it out and activate it out of the car. Any ideas? I'm thinking the motor is shot? Any guidance much appreciated :) Ollie

Site looks top-notch - Congrats to the whole team. :) If you need any help with stuff give me a shout, I'm a PHP web developer by trade. Ollie PS lost my donator status. Happy to donate more to get it back! -
Yeah tried so many things. I thought it was the damper on the throttle butterfly because after I adjusted it the problem went away for ages. I thought after cleaning the throttle body it was snapping shut too fast. Had all sorts of air leak problems on my old supercharged r32 so you'd think I'd be used to finding them lol.

Good thinking especially given the ISV error. The MAF looks pretty new doesn't mean it's not faulty though ;)
-
Thanks Gaz I read that somewhere else after I posted too. I'm pretty sure it's fuel related because once it's stalled it takes ages to get going again but once it is it'll be fine for a random amount of time! I've tried a new fuel pump relay but it cut out on the mrs today in the rain (not amused). Don't know if it could be related to the passenger footwell always being wet when it rains?? Ollie

Hi All, My VR6 starts easily runs smooth on idle but occasionally I'll be driving it and it will stutter like there's no fuel and usually stall not long after. It only seems to happen when its warm I've replaced the leads and plugs, cleaned the throttle body and ISV but no help. I've had a scout through the search but no avail. From memory its only been happening since it had a major service (when all the above was done). I've scanned it with VAGCOM and the only errors I'm getting are: 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation 10-00 - Adaptation Limit Not Reached 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent 00513 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28) 03-00 - No Signal Readiness: N/A I've got a new fuel filter to put on tomorrow and I'm tempted to change the coilpack but any input anyone else may have will be much appreciated! Thanks Ollie

Vagcom is diagnostic software similar to what the dealers use. I'm in Bournemouth mate otherwise I'd come scan it for you! You might be able to find another person on here nearer. I'm pretty sure it's a bad earth somewhere where the connections have oxidised over the years. Check all the earth points near the clocks and give them a rub with some sandpaper to remove the oxidisation. Good luck with it and let me know how u get on! Ollie
-
Hi mate, mine is still a problem although when I tap the front of the clocks it starts working. I need to find someone with a VR6 locally to see if its my clocks or the engine speed sensor in the engine (which brings up a fault code in VAG Com). Where are you located I might be able to help more as I have a full version of vagcom. Ollie
-
hmmm that sounds like a voltage problem. Does everything else work ok? Are your lights relayed?
-
I reckon its a bad earth somewhere. Weirdly mine goes away when I tap the front so it might be a dry joint on the board somewhere. I'll let you know if I find anything!
-
thanks I'll take a look. Probably wouldn't hurt to clean the connections anyway. Ollie
-
I guess there weren't many mobile phones when these cars were designed lol
-
Yeah that's what I suspected. I thought maybe if it was a bad earth all the dials would be playing up? Ollie

Hi All, I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't find the thread. My revcounter has the jitters, the needle will keep dropping and raising even at a constant rpm. Usually the higher the rpm the worse it is and sometimes at idle the needle won't have moved off the stop. I'm sure it's a bad earth or pony voltage regulator but any light anyone could shed on to the problem would be much appreciated. Cheers Ollie
