hi guys my gearbox has finally gone into retirement, ive been offered a gearbox out of a 1.8 16v corrado but want to make sure the box will fit onto my g60 lump. also is this gearbox well suited to the car? and its a cable change box - is that any different from standard and if it is will this pose any problems? thanks again guys Andy

so what do you think is best guys a 20vT box a mk3 16V box or add a vr6 second gear into the box during the recon? ive always felt that first was too short for the g60, would fitting both first and second from a vr6 box be any better? i want to do the odd quater mile and dont want to have to take off in second.

my gearbox only has a few weeks of life left in it, was going to get it reconed but what other boxes will fit that would make my g6 more fun to drive. i like the odd race so i use them all the way to the redline, but would like something that will still be ok to pooter about in if i need to.

its the best way to describe my problem, the car runs fine, all the temps are normal, doent misfire (that i can hear) yet she has what seems like a constant flatspot. you put the old right foot down and she goes, makes all the normal noises, but just doesnt pull, i can tell there is something amiss but just what it is is driving me mad. i know she had trouble with idle probs and the throttle position sensor from talking to the previous owner. could it be this again? any help greatly appreciated Andy.

if its an intake temp sennsor id imagine it should go along one of the intake pipes b4 the throttle body andy.

ive disovered that the oe heat exchanger is fine and the oil leak is from the hoses, i can get away with leaving the exchanger in place, is there any benefit to this or is it just something else to go wrong

will an rsr outlet fit a standard charger?
-
hi guys, again im after your expert knowledge, i was wondering if its possible to remove the resonator box from the supercarger and will it make the charger noise any louder, i want to her my charger sing as i overtake novas and the like cheers Andy.

the silver thing you are talking about is the fuel filter, and the buzz will be the fuel pump, priming the system, id check there is a spark on the 4 cylndes, then check there is fuel etc getting there but fill the car up with water first!! sorry i couldnt be of more help but im a relative newbie too the others will come in in a while and baffle you with tales of co2 pots and things like that. hope you get the problem fixed take care happy dubbing Andy.

no i left the original heat exchanger in place, there was enough clearance to fit the sandwich plate and the filter. does anybody have the part numbers for the bypass pipes, i could just use a bit of pipe but id prefer to do it proper.

Hi guys im after some more help/advice if you can give it. I bought a mocal 8 row oil cooler off e-bay a while back and bought the VW sandwich plate etc separately. I managed to get it fitted over the weekend but my problem is that she now looses most if not all of her oil after a short run. For instance last night I made sure everything was nice and tight, connected up the hoses, put some oil in and started her up, she ran a bit rough at first but that soon sorted itself and she seemed back to full strength. I got back to the house topped the oil up, got changed, and went out to test the cooler, started her up got bout 50 yards when the oil warning light came on, took it back round the house and noticed a very large trail of oil all the way up the road from my house, any body got any ideas what’s wrong. is the sandwich plate got to be a certain way round? The cooler pipes go into it from the bottom is this ok? Please help my babys been off the road for about 6 weeks and im really starting to miss her, I have to drive my maws wee 1.0L polo (things cant get any worse) Any help/advice greatly appreciated Thanks Andy.

hi guys, do any of you know if the flywheel off a golf G60 would fit a Corrado G60? seen one going cheap. any help greatly appreciated. cheer Andy

is ther any benefit to fitting bigger injectors in a chipped G60??

Why is that......surely the longer primaries ona 4-1 are going to give better air flow? i think the reason is that a 4-1 creates tubulence when all four meet whereas a 4-2-1 mixes two together then mixes those two together making it less tubulent and therfore flows better. think of it like rivers, 4 rivers meeting at the same point = loads of choppy watter whereas if you introduce them to each other gradually then the water becomes more managable. can you tell i work in river engineering.

im interested in these lovely brembo brakes, i noticed when doing a search that there was a group buy about 6 months ago and was wanting to gauge interest in another, i personally would be wanting 4 stud conversion for my g60 who if anyone would be interested, once we have rough numbers we could see what kinda deal we could try and get. anyone interested??

my g60 has had similar problems, revving during gear changes, sitting at 1500-2k revs on tickover etc. i got the fault diagosed as a faulty throttle position sensor, just needed adjustment only £25 squid and an hors work, pity the garage that did it left the bost pipe to the throttle body hanging off.

my g60 has done 90 miles on just over half a tank of optimax, i think i might put my boost return pipe back on.

that really low pressure on number 4 to me rings alarm bells, im not a mechanic but have some knowledge and as far as i know number 4 is at the end of one of the banks of cylnders, in my experience vw's tend to blow gasgets on the end cylnders. is there any sign of milkiness in the oil? it could be the ppiston ring is away on an engine with such high kms but again i coulnt say for cetain. on my old vw's if i had low compression i would tighten the head bolts by mabey a quater of a turn and retest to see if that solves it. but dont take my word for it let some of the more knowledgable folk on here try and help before condeming the gasget.
