hi guys, ive got a problem, well more of a dilema, i bought a chip off struan up in aberdeen, i was told that with this chip and a smaller pulley it should give +30bhp. i got the chip, and went to fit it at the weekend, i noticed when taking the ecu out that it had electrical tape round the seal on the ecu. when i got it open and found the location for the chip i was suprised to see it had already had a superchip fitted, i swapped the chip to see if there are any differences and immediatly felt the car would pull better from lower down the rev range but it felt like it was struggling top end. it also seems to make the car pop and burble a heck of alot more than it used to. do you think id be better with the superchip (number on the superchip is 5963) or would i need ro RR it to find out? any help/advice greatly appreciated. Regards Andy.

here are a few pics of my new baby, and my old rather slow (in comparison) mk1 cabrio. i hope you like.

i paid 140 for my inlet manfold but that was for an 8v golf. thats how they look. and a set of weber 40's will be fine, they can handle up to a 2 litre or there abouts, the same engine with 45's on it as opposed to 40's will not make any more ower as its the jets inside that supply the fuel.

i had a twin 40's on my wee golf cabrio, click the link for pics http://www.strathycruise.com/cars/carpi ... ar=golfmk1 unless the injection system is shagged i wouldnt bother, the full kit for mine cos £850 and needed constant re-tuning at a cost of 40ish pounds a pop. it sounds superb but your fuel consumption will drop through the floor, mine would do 20mpg on a good day and 10-15 if you started to play with it. in the end its up to you but id stick with the injection. Andy.

what does this mean? you just spoke a different language, what is the oil/water heat exchanger? and do i need to get rid of it?

thanks sy, do you have any ideas where i could get a sandwich plate to fit the corrado from? also when i fit it would i need to put in extra oil to compensate for the oil that fills the cooler?? thanks for your help Andy.

hiya all i bought this new oil cooler off e-bay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :EOAB:UK:6 i have got it for £51 which i thought was pretty good, i was told by the seller that the sandwich plate (i think thats what its called) that fits between the engine and the oil filter wont fit the corrado so i am looking for one that will make this cooler fit. any comments on where to locate it or if ive been stung as i ve seen oil cooler kits on here for bout 130quid so when i saw this i thought it might save some penny's. cheers guys and gals Andy.

or just bend the wiper arm so it puts more pressure on the windscreen. thats what i did and its fine up to bout 80-85 mph!!!

I think you could be talking about removing the boost return pipe, this gives the same noise during gear changes from high revs. ive got this done to mine and it sounds superb but your MPG will drop to bout 25 and no higher. i love it though. :D :D

how much would i be looking at to get my charger flowed by you? i was wanting the top service, i was thinking of saving the pennys and getting a jabbasport stage 4 r or whatever it is but thats nearly 600 quid.

get in touch with marc at "the garage" in wishaw he has the vw diagnostic machine, im hopefully putting mine in there over the weekend if you cant find his number get in touch and ill dig it out for you.

i think alot of people atually start in second, the length of time it takes to change gear removes the benefit, i may be wrong tho'

i got a full downpipe back stainless steel exhaust custom made by free-flow in bathgate for £200, i supplied the backbox but your talking bout 30-40 quid for a backbox and he will suit the noise/talipipe design to your own preferance. his workmanship is superb i cant fault him and his systems come with a lifetime garauntee. ill try and get a few pics of it when i get the car on a ramp.

i didnt think 16v's had an isv, i thought it was a g60 thing.
