Its been a while since I was last posting on the forums, my cars been off road for a few months now and one of the problems has been the slave cyclinder which needs replacing I've bought the part but not sure where it goes on the gearbox, anyone here have a pic of one?

Just out of interest does anyone know if these units fit into the cubby hole just below the heater dials? Could be a possible place to fit it.

reaper1_3 throttle switch the prob! How much does it cost and can I do it myself. I will probably go to VAG to get one. I have replaced my Lambda probe last year when I did the CAT so I dont think thats a prob. Nice one though.

I hope its not a fuel issue with mine too, however its been running ok not perfect but ok, I've now got the problem that the car wont start! If its not one thing its the other. I'm on the verge of giving up soon and selling it!

Just a quick update, was driving the car this weekend and the problem has seemed to have sorted itself out! However I now have another problem where the car cuts out when I've been driving it for a while, and then go to start it again. However this gos if I give a good rev. Just wondering if this has anything to do with the teh earlier problem and if its related.

Theres a coiple of posts doing teh rounds with the same symptoms, is it just teh time of year? Start with the cheapest and work our way up. Do let us know if anyone comes up with a solution.

Hi having the exact same probs on my car, it started on last sunday. I thinkit is to do with the Lambda but not 100% sure. Check your exhaust near the CAT end to see if its blowing too.

bcstudent its weird I was reading your thread last week regarding a similar experience that you were having. Did you ever get the problem sorted? Was it anything to do with the throttle sensor etc. It just feels that it might be cos reaper1_3 is having similar probs after he changed his manifold. I put my suspicians down to the exhaust blowing from near the manifold/CAT end. What would a blowing exhaust do to the reading on the Lambda probe would it result in a lean reading or rich. My suspicians would be a rich reading i.e lamda showing 1.00, because of the lack of power due to the ECU holding back on fuel to compensate for a rich signal.

Reaper1_3 before replacing the isv could you not test it by applying a 12v current to it and see if it works, I did that with my which ruled out teh ISV. I'm not sure if a golf 16v ISV would fit. I think they may be the same as a golf 8v not really sure though. Mt suspicians are with teh lambda probe, and the exhaust, i'm going to have a look at mine cos I think it might be blowing near the Cat. I'll let you know mate.

Reaper1_3, I got the same problem with mine (2.0l 16v) yesterday afternoon. It started fine and then after about 5 mins it started jerking like a kangaroo when I tried to floor the car. I noticed that it was idling really bad below 900rpm and was popping from the exhaust. Also heard popping sound from the airbox. When you turn teh car off and back on again it seems to reset to normal and then 30 secs later it returns to a bag of spanners! The only difference is that my car has got a brand new alternator fitted on it on saturday. I had this prob about a year and half ago and I think it was the Cat on teh exhaust that was knackered. I replaced the Cat and Lamda probe last summer and it has been running fine since, until Sunday when it all came back. It would be interesting to know what the problem is 'cos I'm sure its the same as yours.

My wifes had the car for over 8 years and its only a J plate Micra with a busted engine so its not worth a packet of crisps! We've been meaing to get rid of the car at a scrappy but just did'nt get round to it. I wish I did now.

My wife got a letter through the post today to say she's been speeding in her Nissan Micra, well get this the car is broken since december last year when the piston in the engine seized up and we had to get it towed back to our house by the AA. Theletter from teh police stated that she was doing 41 in a 30mph zone, in Lancashire, we live in London!! The day the speeding offense took place both my wife and I were at work. It seems to me that some w*anker has cloned my wifes car or something! I was straight onto the phone to DVLA to ask whats going on and all they said was that no one has requested a V5 document etc so now I have to go around proving that we are innocent! Hopefully teh AA report from when we got the car towed back is enough proof. I'm alittle bit worried now because I keep thinking that someone might have cloned my Corrado too!!

Dirtysouth does the 90amp fit perfectly if replaceing a 65amp. The battery light staying on would indicate that the alternator bushes are a bit worn. But on a new alternator that should not be a problem. I'm still in 2 minds about getting one from GSF, although it is cheaper!

Dirtysouth, Any news on your new alternator, just wanted to guage an opinion before I ordered mine from GSF.

Yep been looking to get an alternator for mine but no luck, I dont trust anything 3rd party. Dirtysouth I've been getting silly prices to, from VAG. Does anyone know if a VR6 Alternator would fit a 2.0l 16v? I took mine out and it turns out to be a 65amp, I thought that all post 93 2.0l 16v were 90 amp?
