Well, Tha VR6 I was gonna get just got sold to a guy in Washington DC and was shipped there this last weekend. Now there are very few Corrados around me worth looking at. If anyone knows anyone in the states looking to sell a VR6, drop me a line. I'm looking. Thanks all! Ethan

See, I completely agree with you guys. After a lot of thought and the need for a car, the fact that if I DID get another car, I would always want to be in a corrado. I just don't think that anything else will make me as happy (except maybe a 2004 M3 or Nissan Skyline!) So until I find the Corrado I will buy, I think that I'm taking my bike to work! Has anyone pulled any cars recently on the expressways? I love racin' stories...Everytime I hear a good one, I tell my brother (turbo'd miata -- friggin' fast) and make him jealous! Don't know if you have any sort of crossovers on the leads to the 6x9s. In my old car, had two 8's in boxes running off an amp and the door 6''s running straight from deck. BUT, in the actual L/R channel cord coming out of the back of the deck, you can buy little sound capacitors that cut directly into the wire. I used four of these (two front - L/R and two back - L/R) WORKED CHERRY! Man, that system bumped because I had all my bass and a lil' midrange going into the amp and subs. All the upper mids and uppers went through the smaller door speakers. Good luck! Ethan

Beetlebug_2001: I appreciate that response (regardless of alcohol content!). That's also pretty durn reassuring. I have no problem making mods -- hell, that's why I'm gettin' the car! I want a car that people will look at you like: "what the hell is that?" then I get to kick their ass! This one that I am looking at seems to have been really well taken care of. Hopefully the only money I'll have to spend on it will be fuel, mods, and minor repairs! Thanks all. This might be changing the concept of this post, but: Anyone have any great Corrado stories that might also reassure me of this decision (i.e. ass kicken on the freeway...)? ~E

So your costs have been mostly in mods, as opposed to repair? That's reassuring. I already knew that I would want to do mods. It's just the repair stuff that scares me. I don't want my car to die in the middle of the road (been there!) Those are the horror stories that I am worried about. ~E

At this point I know that if I were to be driving something else (i.e. sport fitted, rear wheel drive miata -- my brother wants me to get one SO bad -- iiiiccchhhh :? ) I know that I would not be happy cause it aint a corrado. Unfortunately, there are no 16v around here at all, but I have driven a 16v jetta ('92) at it seemed fun and sporty. But still no corrado. This one that I'm looking at is in cherry condition and has a lot of maintainence. I will see what I can do to get it. thanks for your advice guys, and it's good to hear SOME positive stories! Being a new member, and a recent addict, I have a question to ask you all -- but first my issue: I LOVE the corrado. however, being on a budget, I am feeling like I am going to jump into an endless abyss of debt by buying a corrado. I posted earlier on this thread about a corrado that I spotted locally (80,000k, $8,900 us, many repairs already with receipts, always with synthetic oil changes). It looks and runs great. BUT, what if there is a problem!?!? (i.e. compression, head gasket, bearings) THE QUESTION: Does anyone have a great corrado and hasn't had to pay an arm and a leg to upkeep it? REASSURE ME! I wanna get this car because I believe that it will be worth the money, not a trap that'll suck all of my life and funds away from me! Thanks all!

jims16v: You are right. The belt that was replaced was a serpentine belt (whichever that might be). Rpmayne: The coolant issue standard with Corrados has already been repaired as well. If there are any leaks I would be surprised. As for oil, it sounds like the owners have been really good about that. I'm still curious about replacing the clutch. is this a standard upgrade to avoid issues or should I not worry about it? How are VR6's engine wise (i.e. reliable, strong)? Thanks for the comments guys! I may not be the owner yet, but I very hopefully, soon will be! oh yeah, the asking price was $8900 US dollars. Is this good/bad? The blue book value (stateside) was $6400 US. One last thing...the VR6 engine is also in the GTIs yes? I was also looking at one of those. Is the acceleration/horsepower/drivability comparable? What about reliability? I'm really curious how the GTI vr6 compares to the corrado. A GTI around the 1995-1998 range. THANKS GUYS! and I'm excited to be on board!

Hello all! This is my first post, but not my first visit by any means to the forum. I looked at, and drove, my first Rado today and LOVED IT! It is a '93 VR6 with 80000 miles. It is a privately owned vehicle and is in great shape (from what I can tell). I've read a lot of advice on this site regarding looking at vr6's. All electronics work, sunroof works, wing works, engine revs soooo smoothly. The car seems to have been maintainted really well. It had a 60000 mile tune-up. The coolant recall has been performed. Brakes have been replaced. Timing belt has been replaced. One thing though, the hood wouldn't pop (cord attachment to handle broke). She's getting this fixed tomorrow. I will look at the engine on thursday to check oil and stuff. She said that her husband (the second owner of this car) changed the oil right on schedule with synthetic and took good care of this car when he drove it. Here is what I noticed that I would like some advice on.... -- putting the stick into reverse would cause a "cu-chunk" noise as though the synchros were not meshing perfectly. But, if you kept the clutch in, pulled it out or revers then put it back in, it would go in perfectly. -- the gas pedal didn't seem to get too much rev out of the engine - as in, I would press the gas down, and it didn't seem to rev as quickly as I wanted (or dreamt of!). This might just be the gas pedal cord being loose or stretched (happened in my old celica) and can't know until I get to pop the hood. Other then that, the car seemed great! I have already thought about upgrading the clutch to avoid any "80000 mile problems" or should I not do this? I would love some advice, and any ideas of what I should look for when I meet with the owner again on Thursday. Thanks guys! Ethan
