  1. Do think the fuel could be running rich due to these two faults? 0515 Hall Effect Sensor 0533 Idle Speed Regulator The Lambda fault disappeared once it cleared and rescanned. I just dont want to have to pay out for a lambda I dont need. Also putting a Cat back on is going to cost a fair bit, but if its not going to pass its MOT, then I will have to regadless. Do you think not having a Cat could affect the fuel consumption heavily?
  2. ECU was cleared and rescanned, which just showed 0515 and 0533. Could either of these be responsible for such high fuel consumption? Also what would have happened to the lambda sensor if the Cat was removed? As far as I understand it is located on the exhaust line somewhere. It only had a MOT a couple of months back, just before I bought it, am surprised that it made it through. The exhaust fumes smell really rich, which I understand could be the result of a failed lambda sensor, but this came up in the scan the first time, but not the second.
  3. Hoping someone can help me with this. I own a '93 Reg VR6 and had a few questions about the Cat. I've been having terrible MPG. Averaging 15.65. I didn't expect it to be fuel efficient, but it's a little annoying when I can't even get 300 miles out of a tank. I assumed that a '93 VR6 would come with a Cat as standard, but according to my mechanic (im not hugely knowledgeable), it has been removed, I'm guessing in order to improve bhp. My first question is should I splash on a Cat or leave it as it is? Would leaving it as it is have a huge effect on my fuel economy? Had the engine scanned twice, which showed: 0515 Hall Effect Sensor 0533 Idle Speed Regulator 0537 Lambda Control Function 0513 Engine Speed Sensor (0537 and 0513 disappeared on the 2nd scan) With regards to the engine codes, I just wondered what would be the next step to take? Thanks
  4. I need to get my VR6 VAG-COM'ed and a general service wouldn't go amiss as well as well as fitting a couple of new tyres. Just wondering if anyone knew of reputable garages in the Buckinghamshire/Aylesbury/Milton Keynes area? Had look at http://www.vagtuneservices.co.uk/ and: http://www.vass-tech.co.uk/ Anyone used these guys before. Guess I could always go to stealth for work, its not too far from me.
  5. Thanks for the info. I should be alright buying the tyres online as they should be the latest right? When you say they wear quickly, what sort of mileage are we talking? and does anyone know how the toyo's wear compares to Uniroyal? Also how is the feedback for both these tyres? I've heard it can be a little vague/underwhelming.
  6. Also took a look conti premium 2, a bit more of a pricetag, different tread entirely, but also highly recommended.
  7. I have been reading the winter tyre thread with interest and have decided that with current prices, to leave buying winter tyres for this year, plus the area where I live hasn't so far been affected too badly. So basically I need some new front tyres and have brought it down to two options: Toyo Proxes T1-R £83.10 Uniroyal Rainsport 2 £69.60 Just wanted to get some opinions on these tyres, if anyone has used them. Any other recommendations appreciated. I tried to look at the tyre thread but couldn't access it. Tyres I'm looking for are 205/40 R17. Thanks Nick
  8. Basically the guy I bought my VR6 off, had a new cat1 alarm system installed in it (much appreciated). The only problem is, the surrounding housing is too big for the little alarm light. It has clearly been had at with a file or something. I dont know whether there is a standard housing available for it, or whether it will even fit in it. Dont suppose someone could shed some light on this (no pun intended) for me. much appreciated.
  9. Hello. I have a '93 VR6 (2x2; only had for a week). Getting terrible MPG at the moment (averaging 20mpg) as well engine occasionally cutting out on idle, when it is a little chilly in the morning. Have just broken the bonnet cable, but am able to pull it with wrench, so at least no grill dismantling for me (well not anytime soon in this weather). I live in Aylesbury (Bucks), and am of course willing to drive a fair few miles to anyone who would be willing to lend us a hand. Thanks
  10. HI guys. Sorry for the late reply, been pretty busy with work. Thanks for all the info, I've finally bought a gorgeous Bordeaux pearl VR6 and I love it. Over 3k, just the sound, wow!!! thanks again.
  11. The Nissan is my day car. I have also driven others in higher power bands, just never owned them. I guess I just fancied something to work on and drive at the weekend and I've had my eye on the corrado for some time. I didn't want to really take it above 3k, for the fear of appearing just a tyre-kicker. Mainly I was just surprised at the lack of torque in first under 3k. Just wondering really whether it's something I should be concerned about, or whether that's just how the engine is.
  12. I'm in Aylesbury in Buckinhamshire. The VR6 Im considering buying is in knebworth near Stevenage. I was almost nervous to drive it for the first time due to significant increase in hp's from my current (probably about double), but as soon as I pulled away I was like "Oh", not quite what I expected.. pulling away in first was almost similar to doing the same in a T5 tdi. Felt I needed to change up as soon as possible... but then I didnt exactly put my foot down. The owner informed me that he had recently changed the steering wheel back to the original and I just assumed that he hadn't tightened it properly. Bad assumption? It did also pull to the left a little, maybe tracking? or worse? Not to sure how I would go about checking this. Thanks again.
  13. Hi guys, First post here. I've been lurking on the forum for a while now and have been hunting for a VR6 for some time now. I got to drive my first Corrado yesterday, which I loved. The only problem with it was it didn't seem to have much torque in the lower revs. After driving a 1.6l petrol Nissan I figured that stepping into the VR6 would be a significant increase in torque/acceleration. I didn't really want to rev it past 3k seeing as i was only giving it a quick test drive, but do you think it's something to be concerned about? Otherwise the car is in fantastic condition (apart from loose steering column/wing mirror motors) and everything I expected from it in terms of handling and ride. Shame that I don't have another VR6 to compare it to, unfortunately not everyone wishes you to test drive their corrado. Thanks for any help in advance. Nick
