I marc ,i do have a passenger d/shaft ( the short one) but it does'nt have the damper on it,are you sure its on that one & not the longer drivers side one. let me know rod

Hi guys,well i thought i'd throw this into the pot,i had a mk3 colour concept,that would do it on full lock a very loud cracking noise (normally when turning left) checked everything re torqued all of the obvious.replaced various parts,which never fixed it.Then the water pump failed .The bearings went and the pump collapsed.after i replaced the pump the cracking noise vanished,i always wondered if it was the bearings packing up that made the noise. So something else to think about. Rod
