I am having to sell my project car, as I am starting a new job in August and will be unable to enjoy her once working. I bought the car in April 2011 and have undertaken a significant overhaul to bring her up to standard, with some of the work completed shown below. Good bits Engine runs well, and pulls strongly on the road. No knocking, smoke or misfires etc. Passed its last mot no problems, but has been declared on SORN since May 2013. Interior condition is excellent, with a new oil pressure gauge fitted recently. All receipts for the car including previous Mot’s since 1995 Mint condition aftermarket alloy wheels with four good tyres Brakes refurbished with braided brake lines and callipers painted Spoiler and sunroof work as new (common faults on the corrado) A re-spray undertaken prior to my ownership means that the body work is rust free and in excellent condition Full DVLA history obtained Bad Bits Oil pressure light illuminated in dash – but oil pressure gauge reads ok pressure, so fault finding required New lambda sensor required Has no current Tax or Mot Recent work completed Front subframe replaced Water pump replaced Full brake calliper and line overhaul including stainless steel braided brake lines Exhaust rubber replacement ARB Mounts replaced Gearbox mount replaced Power steering unit refurbished and boots replaced Track rod ends replaced and tracking performed Both front wishbones replaced including bushes and ball joints CV joint boot replacement and re-lubrication Points cleaned up New dizzy cap, HT leads, rotor arm, sparkplugs New Battery Idle stabilization valve clean up Temperature sensor and oil sensors all replaced Oil, oil filter, coolant, air filter replaced

Selling this car for my neighbour, who writes: I am the second owner and have had this car for the last nine years. I have serviced this car myself and have kept a full detailed service history. I change the oil every 5,000 miles and use genuine VW oil filter, I use G12 coolant and VW gear oil. I have all the old MOTs to verify the mileage, lots of receipts. The timing belt has been done recently. The car has a few dents and scrapes but has been an excellent and reliable car. The starter motor has been noisy for many years but has never let me down, hence it has not been replaced. The rear wiper motor on the tailgate does not work. The car is MOT’d until the 28th March 2014 and taxed until the end of June. Price: £750

Scottish Meet - Calling all Scot's!!

Keep me posted please, as I am near by, but the raddo is on axle stands at the mo :-) -
Sounds like a gear linkage issue. If you get a chance to get under the car; check the linkage from the shifter stick to the gear box and I'm sure you will find the problem. If the gear stick is completely solid and will not move, it may also be an issue with the sticks ball joint: you could remove the cover to take a quick look. Otherwise, you may be looking at a problem with the gearbox itself, but eliminate the easy solutions first. J

Hey dude, wondering if you have a part of the front cross member that I am after - it is number 1 on this diagram. If it is in good condition I will come and collect it from you. Hope you can help. J -
When I started out working on cars I bought a 2 ton jack for about £30 at machine mart, and forked out for some decent axle stands. The axle stands have been great, but those cheap jacks aren't worth it in my opinion. I just recently got a Sealey 3003CXQ for about £100 and it is excellent. 'Car mechanics' magazine reviewed jacks a number of months ago and this one was highly recommended. It depends on what you are going to use the jack for, but I would say buy the best you can afford and avoid the cheap ones unless you just need to change a tyre and service the car occasionally. Also, I looked at ramps but could never get ones with enough clearance, maybe others might have had a better experience.

Grit Blasting company give me the finger...
JohnCarlos replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in Suppliers Forum
We got lectures on abrasive jet machining a couple of months ago and got some general information on material selection, I have attached this below if it helps. Also got some info on grit size, but most of the info is for cutting metal rather than cleaning or etching. Hope this helps. -
Good advice guys. I think i would enjoy the space in the engine bay that a G60 would give me, but then again, I have heard the VR6's pull smoothly. As you all say, its personal opinion, but I will go for the one that has the better overall package. Bit of a buyers market at the moment, so I'm keeping my ear to the ground.

Hey guys, I'm not familiar with the set up in the raddos but recently had to replace a fan resistor in a Peugeot 307 which had identical symptoms to yours. The symptoms we were experiencing were that it would only work on position 0 and position 4, and as it transpired the resistor was bypassed when the fans were switched to position 4. Simply replaced the resistor and it worked on all intermediate settings also. The resistor was expensive from Peugeot (came to about £50) but this was a small price to pay for the comfort of having fan control again!! As I say, I'm new to the Corrado, but if they do have a variable resistor to control the fan, it may be a good call to check its condition out also. Hope you get it sorted.

Hey guys, cheers for the welcome. I'm currently enjoying the cheap running costs with the polo, but used to own a Subaru so know what its like to spend a fortune on parts!! I'm thinking about getting a VR6, but I have heard some horror stories about the timing chains and their replacement procedure. I will be doing any work required by myself, so want to make sure that job is done if I go for that engine. The G60 looks good on paper, but the sound of that vr6 is hard to resist!! Thanks again guys.

Good afternoon all, Just thought I would say hello to you all as this is my first post of (hopefully) many. Over the past few years I have been cutting my teeth on a 1996 6n polo, and have turned it from a non-running sorn to a daily driver. The next stage for me is research into the raddo's to find myself a nice one and start enjoying real performance vw motoring. I hope to help people in the forums wherever I can, and maybe if I get stuck, chuck a couple of posts up and cross my fingers. All the best John
