  1. it's entirely down to your personal experience. i work for my local dealer as a service tech, and about 70% of the techs are flawless, and the rest, not so much. same with so called specialists. ive worked on vehicles from vw specialist places, with all sorts of butchery and **** going on.

you need to find somewhere that you can make a relationship with. either dealer/chain/private etc doesnt matter. but its what you find acceptable in the situation. there's a few older cars that come into us, and its got to a point where they ask for me because of the relationship built and i know them and their car.

sometimes it is worth travelling to find a place suitable. its a hugely varied industry, but dont tar everyone with the same brush.

  2. not helpful but your car looks amazing as it is! why on earth do you want it lower?

so i can run four wheel camber so extra scene points ha. thank you very much, but its all about the hard stance imo.

You're lucky your sump is holding up, I've only got a 'sensible' drop on coilies and managed to grind the bottom off the sump and dump all the oil one time!

people say this, and ive spoken to people with a tiny drop and they smash their sumps. i guess youve got to be super aware when you're driving. my corrados my daily so im very use to it. the coilovers are stiff as anything though so the only movement is in the sidewall (which is much) so this stops me from bouncing around.

If you can get it higher than the sub-frame then i should hope that you wont be bashing it!, there is always the option of getting a short oil pick-up and shortening and strengthening you steel sump

There is enough clearance to "puck" the front mount, although i think you will need to remove the OEM bonnet insulation

that sounds like a good idea. i'll be ripping it apart over winter anyway so i'll keep this updated. thanks for the responses.

  3. I think an r32 sump and oil pump is what you're looking for, people have mention them on here before, it's a more shallow sump so should give you more clearance. Don't like the sound of mounting the engine on hockey pucks, what about the manifold, cooling hoses and gear cables etc. Although there is very minimal clearance with a vr corrado anyway as vw had to modify the bonnet to get that lump in.

thanks i already knew of this, but wont the weaker alloy sump shatter with the first impact. the current steel one is taking quite a battering and still holding up. plus its hella expensive!

As above, very little clearance between the bonnet and the highest part of the manifold. When you fit a Schrick manifold you need to remove a section of the inner bonnet structure to stop it fouling.

this was what i thought :( these mk3 boys are laughing with their clearance.

If you're on the original engine mounts get them swapped for poly ones, the originals are probably thoroughly compressed by now. Should be good for 20mm, once they're definitely good you can see where you are before you start going mad with the hockey pucks :)

again, i thought this. if they're the original mounts, theyre probably a little past their best. 20mm would be alright. dont poly bushes have a repuation to shake everything to **** on idle? :(

  4. (didnt know if this should be in drivetrain section, so please move if necessary)

    evening.

need some help regarding engine mounts. basically, my corrado is very low. its a late vr, and there's about an inch or so clearance from the subframe/floor. plans over winter are to get it a little lower. i know lots of people dont agree with this, but please dont reply with 'raise your car then' etc, as thats not very helpful.

obviously sump clearance is and issue, but if i could get it to sit just a little higher than the subframe i'll be sweet. Anyone with experience of raising the engine. Ive read the odd bit of people with mk3's doing it with hockey pucks some longer bolts. Potential issues ive worked out so far

-bonnet clearance, how much room do i have?

-fly wheel and driveshaft clearance (but i'll solve this with a notch)

    -which mounts to change?

does anyone know if i can get away with just raising the front mount? or which mounts do i need to adjust?

here's a picture of my car for reference.

it use to belong to a guy on here, but i forget his name.

    thank you.

  5. How poor is the condition exactly on the bumpers? And did you get rid of the bonnet in the end? need to sort my car out! Thanks.

rear one is shagged. front is probably 4/10 for condition. bonnets gone to the scrap man.

Hi mate does the heated loom, relays etc all work correctly?

    yes, all works perfectly.

  9. update

-been super busy of late, so sorry for the lack of response on this. will focus on it more now to get everything shifted. currently got a broken hand (doh!) so there will be a delay in some things unless you want to remove yourself.

Hi, Do you have the pedal box with slave cylinder and speedo cable with drive for save?

    Cheers Gary

got all that mate. im afraid you would have to remove it yourself though, as ive bust my hand. not sure what it's all worth. say £50?

Hi, I.ll take those wing mirrors if you still have them.

yep still got both mirrors. £35 if you want to come collect? drop me a pm.

Plastic interior outer footwell trim - both sides please (if in black).

im afraid all interior trim is now gone, bar the dashboard.

Hi dude - ill take the wipers £30 posted? Arms and blades?

    Cheers!

Also - Why are you breaking? Car looked fantastic!

blades are pretty shagged really, but i can do both arms posted for 38 posted? car is breaking due to rear end damage :(

  10. Most people are put off because it involves taking the head off which is too much for most diy mechanics. But it's just like any other gaskets like you said. Aslong as loosing coolant hasn't caused it to overheat, just Wang a new gasket on.

  11. you either want to pressure test it and see/hear it ****ing out. id imagine however if you cant see it externally, and youre also loosing oil that you cant see externally its probably the headgasket. people saying about kseal though, ive heard good stuff about it!

  12. I'd be interested in fully leather interior, plastic trims, carpets, boot interior / plastics.

probably best to give me a call. im at work 6 - 6 all in the week, so it's best to try and catch me in the evening and we can chat about what you want :)

Would it be possible any close up shots of the bonnet to get an idea of the condition? Thanks a lot.

i can do that for you! give me a chance and i'll pm you some pictures

Hi mate, are the wing mirrors for sale, plus the outer part/painted bit of the sun roof for sale?

wing mirrors are for sale, if you want both sides, with glass for 35? and in regards to the sunroof im afraid it had a moonroof in it and im hanging onto that

after the front bumper mate... also does anyone have any idea if the bumper on this 1992 will go straight on my late 1995 VR?

front bumper available. lots of stone chips though and towing eye covers missing

Have only just joined this forum, hope I am doing this right. My car is a Corrado 1991 16 valve injection.

I am looking for a fuel tray, that sits on the underside of the car just behind the drivers seat. It attaches with four nuts to studs fixed to the bodyshell. Is this available, if so what price ? If it is not complete with pump accumulator etc, then the tray and bracket is still of interest as I can rebuild with new bits. Thanks.

alright ed! so youre on about where the fuel pump sits, next to the filter and the tray that goes between that and the shell?
