My VR6 has a Selca FM6 alarm fitted. It has decided that you need to push the arm button twice in order for it to stay on without going off after about 30 seconds. If you push the arm button once it locks the doors etc but then gives two beeps ie beepbeep, beepbeep for about 30 seconds then goes off. If you press the arm button a second time the doors stay locked, no beeps are emitted and the armed LED comes on. Anybody know these alarms, have a manual or know a man who can? Cheers

Thanks for that Kev. I have rev'd the engine in the dark but not with a water mist - I will try that. Regards the MAF - I read previous posts prior to this so did as you suggest with the MAF. The engine carried on as normal on dis-connecting the MAF in that the idle didn't change. On re-connecting the MAF the engine gives a slight shudder. I tried this several times with the same result. I reset the ECU and tried again. The engine started first time after ECU reset and idled correcetly but dis/re-connecting the MAF still had no effect. I then drve the car with the MAF dis-connected. The engine still misfired but the idle was all over the place and coming on/off the throttle caused the car to lurch. The fuel consumption on the MFA went to 23MPG when it normally sits around 28MPG. I reset the ECU and re-connected the MAF and idle returned to normal and lurching stopped. MPG back to 28. The misfire remained in both states. Feels like running on 4 or 5 cylinders. As I say, the power seems to come in waves at 3000,4000 and 5000 RPM. The MAF is a film type not hot wire - how can it be tested off the car? Cheers

My VR6 has developed a mis-fire. It is worst between 1000 + 2000 RPM on light or trailing throttle but can still be noticed under hard acceleration as a noticable surge at about 4000 RPM then another surge at about 5000. I did a back to back drive with Stu's VR and the car doesn't seem to lack performance in comparison. I have replaced the spark plugs with no change. I have also run the engine in TOTAL darkness and can see no arcing from the coil pack or leads. Any help much appreciated.

Cheers for your input guys. I will avoid the Boge from GSF.

My '95 VR6 now has 130k on the clock and as far as I can tell from the history it is still on the original shockers. One of the rears has started to leak so I am going to change all four at the same time. I want to keep the car as standard as possible without resorting to stealer prices. Can anybody tell me what the best "standard" shockers are and where to get them from? Cheers

My VR6 is a '95 and has the later type all plastic MAF. I have booked it into a local Bosch agents for testing tomorrow. I will keep you informed.

Hi I have a running problem wih my VR6 and need some kind person in the Manchester area with VAGCOM to test the various sensors etc. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers SteveF

Cheers Kev. Misses all the time and have run the engine in total darkness and could'nt see arcing so must be a sensor. I have re-set the ECU by removing the battery for a while with no change. If I disconnect the MAF while the engine is running it makes no difference. Revs jump a little when I re-connect it. Need to find somebody in Manchester who can help with VAGCOM. Cheers Steve

My VR6 needs a new thermostat. I have looked but hav'nt a clue where it is. Can anybody help point me in the right direction. Any advice on this would help. While I am here - I seem to be lacking power - the engine seems to misfire at 30mph in 4th yet it idles fine and goes down the motorway fine. It does seem to fluff a little when you try to accelerate from say 70 - 80 but settles at the new speed OK. Again any helpwould be gratefully received.
