I could have been killed! how bad is that... what ever you do don't ever use ET Motors seven sisters rd. cowboys! cheers

    Brakes??

yep - when i was testing a few to buy one, they all did it. and so does mine. spun me out at first - So it is a feature of the car!. Does anyone else hear a banging from the rear at the same time if testing this when stopped. I think it's just the rear caliper. Also a click halve way down at the pedal?
  3. cheers, problem being, even if i got the wheel off, i wouldn't know what to look for, catch 22 a suppose! I may just drive to the garage but brake useing the handbrake? bloody car, i only wanted to get the nearing noise sorted and cos of that this happens!
  4. okay - update, since the garage fiddled with the left front wheel bearing, there has been a tumbling bang noise when going over bumps. Today i went to brake and something seems to have fallen off or jammed, then instantly there was a screaching noise constantly. it gets worst when i brake. really loud grinding noise. I think that was the quiet noise i thought were the wheel bearing, and now that area has been tampered with it's got worse! Waste of £100 pounds on bearings then. Has my break siezed or a pad fallen off? Will it be okay to drive to the garage? Surely, if the brakes never screached when i pressed them before, if they are siezed on - why would they screach now?
  5. hi is there any way to check if a new wheel bearing has been fitted. the garage said it has been, but there is still a whurring noise from front left and i think it hasn't been done!
  6. ended up being £60 for first one (the wronng one) then £30 for the other today. How much did you pay? Maybe i am paranoid but the noise is only a little better, no more whirring, but still rumble. how noisey should the road noise from the tyres be? are c's very quiet inside the cabin in comparison to most cars?
  7. I put my C (vr6) into a garage to get the wheel bearing done on the front left. Picking the car up i saw they were doing the RIGHT hand side!!! They said they testdrove it but when i drove home the noise was no different. Sounds like scraping and wherrring (worse on breaking). i complained and the garage are fitting the other side tommorow for free - but they said i also need front disks and pads (warped). do you think the disks could cause the noise as well? Also they guy offered me a good deal on Red-Dot performance disc and pads XJ-20 grooved. Do you think £200 is a good price
  8. not a big problem, but the spoiler works on auto, but the dashbord button doesn't operate it. Is there a seperate fuse for this or anyone had his happen to them? I need to show the spoiler of to me mates, and living in london i don't often get over 55mph!
  9. well - i'm back from wales, 300 miles there then cost me £37 to fill back to brim, anyone think thats good or bad? i was seeing 29-32 mpg at 100mph all the way which i think is good, but after 3oo mile there was no way i was gonna get another 100 out like most of you seem to. god dam expensive v6!
  10. ah - well £40 = 22.5mpg. seems as if me computer is working then, it's the exact same average. 22.5mpg! thats living in london for ya, hardly get much over 20mph. wonder what i'll get back to wales tonight, 300miles of motorway heaven! is it true that 69mph is the most economical speed to travel at. (not that i'll do it)
  11. Just wordering what you guys get out of a tank. I get 18 - 28mpg on the screen, but lets talk in real figures. On a full tank (£40) how many miles are you getting out of the vr6? (i get 250)
  12. all fixed now!!! yeah, the whole m4 to do shortly, it was all coused be the front disks wobbling at high speed, doh
  13. deep deep south wales, it's a long pleasant drive, got the car a fortnight ago so worried weather it'll make it. i'll tell the garage to do the rubbers and that should stop the banging, it's very scary when it first happens, should the labour be much?
  14. oh one more question - shold the exhaust have any movement/ swing left to right, as mine wobbles if i can recall.
  15. this system here seems to be just under 290 anyhow? just found out that i need one from cat back. is the magnex the best? http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv ... Type=EXS03
  16. yes - i thought that, the garage was sure that it wouldn't be that as it would happen at all speeds. If it continues to bang, will it be safe to drive 300 miles home for christmas? wish i could do things myself! :? cheers
  17. cool - good news, i have just had it done today for 145, including oil leak sorted. looks like me been done! whats gfs? is there a website? Anyhow, this banging noise is still there, garage can't solve the probem (swapped wheels and test drove etc, but still there.) It's all down the left side and sounds like your going over a cattle grid, only after 70mph and more frequently when braking. Any more ideas, i am desperate, need to get home for christmas! Any one heard of this problem? :(
  18. does it ever make a screach noise? where would i look for axle rub marks - do i need a ramp?
  19. thanks - the garage seems good and was recommended on here. ET motors seven sisters north london. I am always worried about getting done though, bit of a novice. the whole car is standard, exhaust too. the banging is what i am really worried about, if he can't work it out then i never will, any ideas?
  20. got my car checked out today for rear left banging/scraping noise over 60mph. The guy couldn't find anything wrong but said it could be crap tyres (michelin!!) i don't agree as the noise isn't always there, very intermittant. He noticed the front engine mount was gone and showed me the engine lift loads (all most out of the car!) would this also cause the rear noise ie. pulling exhuast onto axle etc? cheers
  21. no i'll check though. cheers i'm thinking a little movement in the exhast may be the problem
  22. none of those things. there is slight movement if i push the exhaust.(should this be rock steady?) I took it out today and it's intermittantly still there. Sounds more like a horse trotting. any more ideas?
  23. took my vr6 on the motorway for first time today. Shocked that when i got the car over 65-70 mph the is a very wierd noise coming from the left side rear wheel arch area. (not too sure) It sounds like somthing banging and as if things keep falling off. A kind of "tumbling" noise best heard with the window shut. It stops under 70mph then starts again above. it was very scarery. any ideas would be great as i can't find anything on it? cheers
  24. okay - i can work that out.. just want to know if its okay to "top" it up with water. and if corrados naturally use a BIT of water?
