Wicked thanks for the link of that dvla site ZippyVR6 - just saved myself £160. Was going to buy a plate from one of the autotrader site links, but searched on the dvla and came up loads cheaper. Though i wasn't going to buy it at the original price so you've managed to make me spend money i decided i wasn't going to!! still.....A plates for life not just for christmas. :D :D Cheers

And i've also been to Cardiff!!.....all because of the corrado!

Its a hard one really you gotta except that with any high mileage cars (and i hate to say it especially vr6's) there is some risk. I bought my Vr with just over 100k on it 2 previous owners (the chap i bought having had it several years and being in his early 50's) and a full service history....And it performed flawlessly for 15000k........and then decided that if we were to be together for the long haul it wanted large sums of money thrown at it and lots of love and attention from a certain outfit based in Southam. The fact is with the situation i was in i could have probably spent half the money i did, but like i said i'm in for the "long haul" so I'd rather just get the thing properly sorted than drive around with a new head on a knackered block feeling paranoid as fcuk and pi55ed off with every little puff of smoke out the back. The thing is though, i was well aware of the possibility of all this occuring so did all the checks when i was looking at buying it (plugs, smoking on overun startup etc) and it was honestly fine. Though it did have a slight hint of chain noise which i managed to get a bit off the asking price for. But...and its a big but (were talking J Lo here). Despite the costs every time i look at, get in, drive, listen or just plain think about the Vr i enjoy myself and you dont get that with many other cars. IMO there is a risk so i hate you to go into it thinking there wasn't, but the worst that can happen is you end up like me...... with a smile on your face. Cant afford the rims i wanted now though :( Edd

I believe so an old school freind of mine is a designer for Jaguar and his concept design was chosen for the new jag sports - according to him its idea is compete with the tvr's, porsche etc market.

Try not to bump start it if you can avoid it! or at least do it quite softly in 2nd.

I sold my last c to a chap who's at plymouth uni - green 16v J*** LUE. I used to live in plmouth and couldn't believe it when i drove past it in Mutley a couple of months after i sold it. Fogs are for Fog......simple! In fact my mate got a £60 fine for it on the way haome from work last week after not turning them off from the fog on the way to work in the morning. You have been warned. Plus the copper was a vdub nut!

Interesting fact (if i remember my figures right!!) according to Vince 9 out of 10 vr's that have major engine work carried out on them at Stealth are rado 2.9's and the main reason being "the just run too damn hot!!"
-
I can show you a receipt from Stealth if you like   (note: you get what you pay for of course)

"Grrrrrrrrr vultures!" Yeah felt bad about that one but gotta get my oar in first  Seriously though hope they dont write it off i'd be so livid if my vr was crashed into by a drunk driver. Im sure if you can get the chassis numbers proved as storms you will get it sorted. If not go back to my first post!!

Feel bad for asking but i've just got to  , have you still got it, would you consider breaking it and can i buy the leather. :)

Ooops! just copied everything Dinkus already said, still i'll leave it in, it must be good advice!! :D

"Corrado Paranoia"....Man nothing even comes close, it plagues me every day. Though i can safely say this one isn't an issue to me anymore. First off check plugs find out what state they are in on bores 1 & 6. And give it a boot after a good long period of overun. See what gets kicked out the exhaust, smoke, how much, what colour.

Might as well update here too. Discovered i'd been worrying about nothing - Had mine done at the weekend by Vince and to my pleasure everything was spot on rear camber and toe were all in tolerance and perfectly balanced. My front camber had been set up with minimal negative by the previous alignment place which gave my rear camber the impression that it was way too negative - All is set up sooper duper now and feeling fantastic for it. Another brownie point for Stealth again. we were way past the normal closing time on a Sat and Vince was still re- adjusting again and again to get the toe and camber absolutley identicle on both sides. Good show. For information Vince can now get the shims to adjust rear camber and toe. Though he thinks it'll take a minimum of four hours to sort and thats banking on the fact you get the right shim first time round.

take a trip down the local scrappy chuck one of the chaps there a fiver and give him ten minutes - works every time. Just remember to take a new sets of locking nuts with you.

both my c's had replacement Pilkington screens previous to my ownership and both leaked in really heavy rain - coincidence!!?? weirdly they both leaked from the same spot too. just from the top right of the screen so it'd drip on your leg as you are driving.....Avoid
-
check plus too, mine used to oil up and that would cause it to just refuse to start.

Defo check all electrics my old man had problems with the air con unit in his 95 sl and it cost an absolute fortune to fix if i remember correctly an new ignition switch was around £200!! also check for problems with hood operation, hard and soft tops. Sometimes problems with hard tops going on but not coming off. Great cars though and some around at very reasonable prices. Dad just let his mint 95 50000k 320sl go for under 10k. Great car to "borrow" at the weekends too!!

Whats the most embarrasing moment you've had in your corrado
edd replied to surfer.vr6's topic in General Car Chat
Well technically it wasn't my car when it happened but i had a horrendously embarassing moment with my previous C a 16v. I sold the car to a nice chap (hey bro if your on here....sorry once again!!) was chuffed to have sold it because i needed some funds for the newly aquired Vr and i'd spent quite a bit of time sorting the little common niggly things required prior to corrado sale. Anyway money exchanged got a fair deal he left in his new corrado roaring up the road which having been the first one he'd driven would have (okay...should have!!) been a pretty nice experience. About ten minutes after he left the phone rings, mum comes out saying its for me i tell im busy can she take a message......she says no!!!.....its a chap called **** and he wants to speak to you NOW!! Anyway turns out the front wheel decided it had been attached to the hub for long enough so had come off and overtaken him about 6 miles down the road!! I've never felt so awful! So i went and found him..........he found the wheel........in a tree. We put it back on the now rather Fooked front disc and i drove it home.....Slowly. So thats was my first Corrado Sale...........sold for about 30 mins!! I Bought it back off him with a bit extra to get his now rather muddy clothes dry cleaned and said im so so sorry about 50 times. Then spent a shed load of money sorting it all out. Turns out the alloys (came on the car when i bought it!) were totally wrong for the hubs and that was the cause. Shame i loved that car until the day i sold it!!! Fair do's to him though he came back the bext week and bought it. -
obviously both readings should be negative camber in the last post :D - otherwise i do have a problem. edit wont work

Yeah Jim mines a bit of a paradox really.......I had issues with mine after i fitted the H&R's and koni's on mine due to excessive tyre wear that was eating the inside edge on my rear right tyre, unfortunatley i had recently done quite a lot of wheel/tyre swapping and had no idea exactly what the state the rear tyres were in when they went on. Anyway after afew weeks letting the springs settle and prior to a full alignment i decided that i had excessive rear camber and that was at fault. But as it turned out, the front settings were all over the place but the rear was if i remember correctly -1'38 on side and 1'28 the other so in tollerance. And tyre wear has not been an issue since Tho im going to have to go find that alignment report again tonight cos i've got the dreaded "corrado paranoia" creeping into the back of my mind.... again!! Out of interest do you have any strange tyre wear Tekara??
-
Funnily enough i had a chat with Kev and Jim about this on Sat at Stealth because the rear camber on my C often looks out... which it isn't and has been put down to my wheel offset. But heres a link i found previously when it was bothering me! Whether its true or not is a diff matter. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1328094

Ahh an MR2!! that was it, it has been bugging me all morning. "i wondered why you were going slow! engine running in is a bloody good excuse!" Next time my friend...........next time! :D :D :D Nice color BTW :D

Hey yep that was me on the way up to Stealth - kinda embarrassing to be sat at 55-60 but new engine is still being run in :). Were you out with the Red Supra and other fettled car that drove past (can't remember what it was but seem to remember there being a few nice cars all together) Actually seen some crazy cars this weekend. Must have been a hot rod meet on somewhere. Also stopped on the side of the road in a small village in the cotswolds yesterday to look at a delorean sat on someones driveway, owner came out a let me have a look around and start her up. Another ambition filled!! well nearly would love to have gone out for a ride in it. Prob didn't offer cos i had to go and throw the old "Great Scott" and "88 miles per hour marty!!" comments into the conversation :D
