Surely a bmc will help though when aiming for as near as I can get to 250bhp.

Well I've done some searching but was hoping for abit more information and ideas. I'm look at tuning mods on my standard vr6. Firstly ill look at going exhaust, exhaust manifold, bmc induction, 263 cams, port and polish (doing this myself so will try do a guid if it goes well) and may be bigger valves. But then what next, I'm after ideas. That don't involve FI, I don't fancy ITB's as it means stand alone management, or paying the earth for a schrick manifold. Bit new to tuning so not sure on some things, will bigger valves mean bigger injectors? I am a faby welder so I can make modify stuff. I was thinking of taking a stock inlet manifold and cutting it and improving the flow or making a new one completely with a different design. I've tried to find pictures of custom inlets but most stuff seems to just be for FI. Fire away with ideas please and if there is stuff I can make and works then I may make a few more. As ill be making some stainless tank straps next and eventually stainless brackets ect for in engine bay.

going to pass on it that but cheers for the pics. im pritty sure you are the person i have just bought some parts off from ebay. if your breaking the engine then i am looking for a head to rebuild and port and polish and a manifold to mod, would just depend on what sort of price.

Yeah. Know this is the problem I've had with mine. Thought I'd ask anyway, someone might of got a new set collecting dust or just fit to a car there breaking ect.

2 more questions. I noticed I had 18mm bushes sent to me and I have a vr6 so its a 20mm anti roll bar I rang my supplier who got onto polybush and there response is that they supply the same 18mm bush for all the models including vr6. Surely this can't be right how is a bush with a hole 2mm to small going to fit? Anyone else experienced this and did you just stick a g clamp on it and pull the clip down? Next question is when dropping back of subframe to get to the anti roll bar and bushes do you have to support the engine in any way or is it good enought to just hold middle of the subframe and allow the engine to drop slightly with it?

I didn't grease it up so ill try that and I think I'm going to just take the hub off as I did find it in the way.

im currently fitting polybushes to my front suspension.took the wishbone to work and pressed the sleeve into the rear bush and then did the rubber. tryed to refit the wishbone to the car and for the life of me i can not get the rear bolt to go in. the polybush wont sit square in the subframe so the bolt is at an angle and therefore wont screw into subframe. the subframe has a raised 3/4 ring on the bottom and top of the opening, i can only guess that the bush is fouling on this. ive tryed everything i can think of, jacking the wishbone up. any ideas? what techniques have others used?

just bought them from dealer now and ill have to arrange getting them. if anyone does know please do reply thought for anyone searching

car is off road having all bushes done and changed for poly bushes. Im going to do the roll bar bushes also. I need new retaining clips but cant seem to find them anywhere on the net, I dont have transport to local vw dealers as my car is up on axle stands. anyone know where I can get these on the internet.

took the hub off, and the bearing feels fine to me. i cant decide weather to change it or not. as for the brake sqeauling. the disc has a slight lip on it and im wondering if its possible that when ive refitted the caliper and disc that the play in bolt and hole means that the edge of the pad is riding on the disc edge?? as for the low speed noise i can hear im thinking that it must now be a bush. whats most likely? top mount? could it be the bush on bottom of anti roll bar drop link?

any idea on current price of a geniune one?

Stupidly I was in a rush so just swapped nuts and retorqued, I didn't feel the bearing stupidly. No I didn't use a geniune one. I did try and feel for any play and I couldn't feel any. I put a new drive shaft on so shouldn't be that. The brakes didn't squeak before so it has to be related to what I've done and surely must be the bearing. Ill replace it anyway and get my clock from work and check hub and disk are running true

i just re torqued the nut to 90n/m and used a nyloc nut and the noise of the brakes rubbing is still there and there is abit of a knocking noise, im assuming the bearing is knackered from being over tightened. i shall buy another and replace it and see how that goes. ill update so if anyone is searching they have some information that may help them. if anyone has any advice or help they can give will be appreciated.

I have fitted a washer, ill try a nyloc nut torqued to 90nm and if bearing is knackered now then ill have stick another new one in

Is it possible that the bearing nut being to tight could cause my strange noises? And that I should get a 12 point nut and torque it to 90nm. What's special about the 12 point nuts that allows them to not undo? Are they just nylock nuts?

well from what i could find its only 90n/m on the later model with a 12 point nut. the nut i took off and have replaced with was a normal 6 sided hexagon. but on the passenger side ive noticed today that it has a 12 sided nut on it. as for the noise i suspected that it was the shock top mount not sat right and cross axeled but i dont think it is now, i have just fitted koni adjustables on it so all the camber ect will be out but this shouldn't cause strange noises as nothing is rubbing from what i can see. lately i have replaced the shocks and then the bearing and drive shaft. i now have a squeaky noise which changes pitch if the pedal is pressed slightly when driving. when i go really slowly i can then hear a rubbing notchy noise. i cant make out if the to noises are linked and the same thing or not. i do also seem to have steering wheel vibration as well at higher speed.
