  1. did i see u this morning?!?!? about 8 just after, i was heading away from frimley?
  2. Got an email the other day that was interesting . . . Seems like a good idea to be repeated.... See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it . We are hitting 95p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down isif we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send itto at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on toten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.
  3. Eh, was informed the other day, that when the inticators come on, the side lights, AND headlights come on, on the side the indicators do?? thinking prob a bad earth, as my car seems to be riddled with them! But dunno where to start! Cheers ANDY
  4. It broke last friday, and been away so finaly get round to ordering a new one today, to find no where sells it, apart from dealers, but when he was looking it up, he comes up with 'oh its a discontinued part . . ' was like thats not a lot of good to me, as i kinda need to see how fast im going mate . . So he taps few more buttons and asks how long it is (THE OLD SPEEDO CABLE GIRLS) ;-) so ripped old one out, and measured it, and it was 100cm ish, said he could see one that was similar but was 130cm's long, and there was only 2 left in the country!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!! Something isnt right i think, surely this is gunna be a fairly common part to start going wrong, and if theres only one cable left in the country now, one of u lads with a 1.8 16v wants to go and buy the last remaining one in the uk and flog it for few hundered later on!! in fact sod it, i will! So is he talking out his arse or am i screwed?!?! CHEERS ANDY
  5. The seal i got with mine was/is like a load of squashed up wire mesh?!? is this correct, as its now blowing very badly! is there i substute somewhere like GSF would sell, say for another exhaust fitment ect? im on about the seal that fits between the 2 peices of exhaust on the joint that moves, i dont have any idea what should be there ect! CHEERS ANDY
  6. nice, where can i get the redline mt90 from in 48 hours?!? there not leaking yet, but look bit fragile, and one has started to split, just dont want fuel spraying everywhere and then mahoosive fire or something!! So normal fuel line wouldnt be ok? if so what bore is it? Cheers
  7. Can i just replace it with normal braided fuel line like stuff u can get from halfords or do i have to but original plastic pipe stuff? Looking a bit tiredand split in places so as load of stuff to do this weekend as ever, might as well do that! Oh and fully synthetic gearbox oil yea?!?
  8. ordered mine from GSF, and when got it home, it had an extra hole, went to local motor factors, and the ones they stocked also had extra holes, so had to plug it with a bleed nipple!?! Seemed a bit weird! Get ya self some nipples lad!! ;)
  9. Ah thought as much! Is it a fairly straight swap to fit the mechanical ones or loads of rivets ect? And does the Glass just slide out the top?!? Cheers in advance :) ANDY
  10. Got a new door to get sprayed up, but it has an electric window fitted, and believe it or not, i have manual windows!! So can i convert the other side to electric with new door cards ect, or can i just cut a hole for the switches? And most importantly, is all the wiring going to be there, or am i opening up a whole bag o worms here, and should just stick old manual window back in, ihave to change the glass over anyway as mine is tinted, oh and how dou get the glass out!?!? Cheers ANDY
  11. OHHHHH yea :) Doughnut house mate parked in the drive so was killing couple of mins while he moved his car! Didnt realise it was you though!
  12. Thank god im a lazy git. . . . nearly did it and drove home from mates but just had visions of something not being right doing it!! its so sticky and caked on, i really dont think a hose will flush it out :( need a chemical to sort of strip it and brake it down?!?
  13. but the problem didnt arise for a week or so after the handbrake froze? wouldnt the air of been ther straight after they had boiled up? also anyone got any good tips for this?!?! its inside the water pipes, from when the head gasket went, not a pretty sight, and its bloked everyrhing right up manly the raditor, running hot ect, have no idea how to get rid of it all :( Surely there must be a product available?
  14. Past week, fairly scary prob arising on it! When foot brake is applied, the pedel travels down, thee is a little resistance there and small amount of brakes being applied, but its only near the end of the brake travel it starts to really start working, and sometimes the pedal workd as nothing is wrong with it! another intermitint problem! In the recent cold weather the hand brake seized- with ice - and i couldnt be arsed with it so i drove it till it got hot enough 2 unseize! could i of boiled the fluid and got air or could it be master cylinder? Cheers in advance!
  15. Since replacing the head gasket at the weekend, my C is running hotter, like quite a bit, used to stay at 90* 98% of the time, but now its running at 98-99* at normal crusing speed, and keeps climbing when stationary, till 110, when i bottle it and switch it off till i have to move again, the oil is staying at 108, and rises to 112+ when stationary as well, so something is very a miss. any ideas on whats causing this? Could i of poss got the timing wrong?!? Been a very expensive time between me n 'her' and the decision has been made i think enough is enough, u gotta go now
  16. nar, took it on a long drive, bad idea after playing home mechanics i know but had no choice! gets to about 100 standing, even more worrying!! Ah, but i did swap the dash for a passat one and the drive after fitting it, the head gasket went, so maybe the passat dash is the fault here, i didnt really get a chance to see what temp it got to, beacuse of the major leak it had developed, or are they all the same? Also roughly what temp does the second stage of the fan kick in, cos only the first one seems to start and havent heard it step up a gear? Soon i will be question free i promise! :)
  17. Nice! think i have done it!! Doesnt seem to be anymore oil in the water, but its hard to tell with the stuff thats floating about in it still, but no where near as much as there was, but im bit worried that the temp guage seems to be reading about 6-7* more than it used to before the whole mess? used to stay at almost exactly 90, but reading 97-98ish? WHY!?! Cheers ANDY
  18. And how might i dispose of that little problem?!? Also how can i clear all the oil from the water system before i add the coolent? Havent put it in yet as bit of a waste to flush it all out again if its still bust? Oh and what temp should the oil be? im getting 105?!?! Cheers!
  19. Yea!! replaced it anyway as it was in peices! Right, its all back together and running, but its still not right! The water seems to be boiling, with the top rad hose off, and it not running, its just bubbling LOADS, as tho somethings not working or water isnt getting round? thought water pumps kinda went bang not stopped working all together? **EDIT** I mean in the expansion tank, with the lid off, it just bubbles, sure this is wrong?!!?
  20. Nice cheers mate, Will have an explore in the bonnet again tomorrow morning bright and early! If its not the head gasket, theres gunna be a corrado bonfire tomorrow night.
  21. Um well in about a week  Left my camera at my bros and cant get it till sis comes back DOH! But it doesnt seem to have any where where it could of been mixing, and remember seeing one off a old renault i had, and there was a hole between the oil and water, mechanic did say it was quite badly blown, but not sure really what i should be seeing, just looks like a squashed version of the new one i put in! the garage that diagnosed the head gasket said there was high levels of hydro carbons in the water, so must be from the cylinder to water way? and oil 2!! Got one of those horrid feelings that more is wrong than i think! So regards to the notch on the pully, the arrow is on the lower timing belt cover u mean? havent seen this one yet :)
  22. I have a haynes manual, and sort of helps, but its the crank im sort of worried about getting wrong, i think i have it right, but everythings a bit vague in the manuals and info i have, and its gunna be fatal if its wrong!! I have the head put together, and yea got new bolts, but gasket didnt seem to have any holes or cracks in it, so wondering if this is the cause of my oil water mix :( Also i didnt remove the cams or the sprockets, left the head in tact bar removing the stuff i had to. Im sorry i STILL havent fitted the relay you sent gav, mainly beacuse i have only had my car about 3-4 days of the past 3 weeks, its not been a good month for me and it :( plan was to tidy up few loose ends with it tomorrow 1 of which was the relay, but planned on having it put back together tonight, but hopefully when timing issue is sorted, it will only take a hour or to to re-assemble so will get it sorted, sorry :)
  23. nothings easy! Just gunna put it all back together, and see if it starts!!! The little line on the cam shaft sprocket needs to be level with the edge of the head, and the flywheel needs to be on the straight line not the other mark near, it thats sort of set back a bit more and looks like a circle from what i can see of it? Sound about right?? Cheers
  24. tad late now eh! :( Surely its not rocket science, just line up the marks!?!? TDC on flywheel + TDC on the cam?
