  1. Unfortunately, Shell had to go as soon as I was finished stripping it, as there was nowhere to actually keep it on the drive, so I had to have it removed asap - Shame as I wanted to offer people any cuts they might have wanted, as I could have cut them out for people, but unfortunately Home situation is not as I would like at the minute! As you guessed, there is a bit of a waiting list for all of those, but will happily add you to it (I think that makes you 4th in line for fogs, 3rd in line for wings & second for fan housing - I am ssuming you mean rad fan?) Sorry couldn't be more help dude Dan
  2. OK, I think all Messages/PMs replied to again, but if I have missed you and you have asked me anything, just let me know. Am desperately trying to keep thread up to date, but seem to get flurries of people offering on items, so am operating first to ask gets first refusal (within reason) and first to pay/at least leave a deposit gets it! That seems fairest, and happy to let people know on a 'waiting list basis' if stuff falls through. As a result, I am really sorry if something is still on the thread but when you ask me it is gone/under deposit - I am just struggling to keep up with the pace at the minute! Any questions at all, just shout Dan
  3. Appreciate I might be shooting myself in the foot here given I have a set of my own Recaros up for sale on here at the minute, but surely this is an absolute bargain??!! Ok so they aren't 'proper' Corrado Recaros, but they fit, and because of the bolster sizes etc they look right in the car. Ok so the leather needs a bit of restoration, but it doesn't look like it is actually worn through anywhere. The colour might be a bit marmite, but then as above point if you are going to restore anyway, you could change the colour at the same time - There is a company up north somewhere that does kits for changing colour of/restoring leather (I think they are actually aimed at home furniture, but I have seen excellent results on car interiors too) - the name escapes me, but I am sure I will remember it......... Anyway, back to my initial point - surely these are dirt cheap? Buy these, a few quid on some kit to sort them out, A bit of elbow grease (plus the added pride from having done the resto work yourself) and you have a recaro interior in your rado for a fraction of the price of a 'proper' one GLWTS (even if someone buys yours instead of mine!) Dan
  4. Hi Ray, I cant say I have ever changed one from a Golf onto a rado, but have just double checked ETKA for you and it definitely shows that part number as being for a '95 corrado as well, so cant see why you should have a problem. Do they then have to be coded to match key/ECU? I don't know how 'advanced' the Corrado immobiliser system is, so I don't know whether the ring just has to know that there is a key in there, or whether the key, ecu & immobiliser all need to be matching for it to work? Hope that helps Dan
  5. Just bumping these back up to the top. Are they a bit pricey? I am more than open to offers, particularly if people want other bits of Black interior from my breaking thread. I am aware that I am starting to get people asking about individual bits of trim etc, whereas at the minute, I could offer enough stuff to totally change your rado to a black interior if desired! Space is at a premium at the moment, so a combination of being able to pick up quickly with a slightly lower price would be more attractive to me than holding out for extra money for longer! Any questions, just shout Dan
  6. I am pretty sure I have now replied to everyone who asked me anything - A couple of days without internet causes absolute havoc! If you have asked me anything and I haven't replied, just give me a kick and I will get onto it! Have updated thread with pics, and have also updated anything that is definitely gone! Dan
  7. Hi Dan, It looks like they may be taken with the rad, subject to being paid for, but if it falls through/he wants just the rad for less money, I will give you a shout. Am 90% sure it is the 4 pin connector, but can check for you if it does look like he doesn't want the fans. Beastie4126 - No problem, consider it reserved, will get you a pic at the weekend Simon - I do, they are in reasonable condition from memory, let me get a photo for you at the weekend Phil, let me check it is all good, as I say, this was all written for memory, and will get back to you with a posted price assuming it is, again will be the weekend. VR6Dave - Have dropped you a PM regarding hoses and zorst Cheers All Dan
  8. Hi Pickup, Have just dropped you a PM mate - I do have some concerns over posting the fogs/indies without them being super wrapped, as I have had them broken in the past in the post, same with the grille. Have the Grille, although no front VR6 Badge - £15 (I have no idea how much they sell for normally!) Didn't spot the bit about the rad - Yes, have got it, including the (I assume standard VR) twin fan setup, but mine certainly didn't have AC - £25 As I said in the PM, let me know where you are, as I have friends dotted around the country and I am sometimes out and about with work - Would rather see if I could get them delivered by hand without you paying postage costs and risking them getting broken if it was possible Cheers Dan
  9. Hi Endeegee - Just dropped you a PM Back. For reference folks (sorry, West Mids is pretty big!) I am just outside Walsall! Dan
  10. The original post has got a bit confusing with things gone etc, so I have put an updated list on Page 10 of what is still avaialable, with new prices! Dan
  11. THESE ARE NOW THEORETICALLY SOLD PENDING PICK-UP - IF IT FALLS THROUGH I WILL PUT BACK UP FOR SALE Full set of Proper Corrado Recaros, in Half Black leather. In very good, useable condition, but not completely mint, I have tried to get pics of any bits that aren't so good, but all pretty minor stuff so difficult to get pictures of. I know that these can attract frankly ridiculous money sometimes, and being skint, would love to be getting pocketfuls of cash for these, however, I have tried to price them fairly given the condition, and in mind that I could do with them out of the way (If I had the space I would just keep them till I end up with a rado again, as I think they are probably the best seats I have ever had in a car bar none) and so I am after £900. Originally (I am guessing) from a left hooker, drivers bolsters are in excellent condition, and the passengers side, while leather is all very good, the bolsters are very, very slightly flattened if I am being ultra critical. The cloth centres could probably benefit from a good deep clean, but are certainly not dirty or unusable, I am just again being ultra critical. Anyway, pictures speak a thousand words, so: Drivers Side: Overall very good condition, leather in great condition, couple of marks on cloth parts Small Mark on piping at the furthest section back on bottom cushion: Mark at very back of bottom cushion where fabric has rubbed: Bolsters: Mark on Headrest: Passengers Side: Again overall very good condition - As said further up, if being ultra critical, the outer bolsters are a little flattened due to being from a LHD, and there are a couple of tiny marks on the piping on the upper bolster (shown in pics) Marks on Piping: Mark on Headrest: Rears: Complete with original First Aid kit (which still has all the stuff in it as far as I can see, unopened) and the warning triangle (I haven't taken the triangle out to take pics, as I was worried about putting it back in properly - I have never taken one out before!) Hump: Seats: Note that any marks that show on the leather in the main pics are down to how it was stacked prior to pics, and are not permanent marks Small mark on rear of headrest on drivers side rear: If anyone wants more pictures, let me know, however I would much rather any prospective buyer came to see them and was 100% happy with them before buying (also they would be both very expensive and risky to courier). Also, the seats are at my Dads house in the West Midlands, and I work in Cardiff all week, so would be the weekend before I could get more. If anyone is interested and is putting them into a car with a none-black interior, I do have a full set of interior for making yours Black, i.e carpet, A,B & C Pillars, Dash and Door cards (although the door cards are not leather) that could be negotiated separately, or will be listed separately when I get a chance. I also removed the wiring loom for the seats - I assume it is actually already installed in all corrados anyway, but if not I have it and the purchaser of the seats is welcome to it if they wish. It is not up to me what happens to them once they are sold, however I would really like them to go into a corrado, and not have the rears *******ised to fit into a polo or golf etc, as they are such an original, good condition set of seats, hence putting them on here first and (hopefully) pricing them fairly. I would love to keep them, but don't have the space or spare cash at the minute to justify it - I doubt I will be able to get another set anytime soon They are in Walsall, West Mids for viewing, although I am only there at the weekend, if you could only make weeknights, I can arrange for my brother to show them to you, as he knows his stuff anyway! Any questions, just shout Dan
  12. Hi Mate, I am probably about to (very reluctantly) break my VR - I know this is a bit 'do as I say, not as I do' but I think you should sort it out and repair rather than breaking. It sounds like you have a bit of space to do it in, and aren't in a massive rush to get it sorted (i.e I am guessing you have other transport if you haven't used it for a while anyway) so you can do it to suit you. I have no space, no money, no house (long story) and no working vehicle, so don't have too much choice! If there are any bits that you need to get it up and running I would happily donate to the cause for nowt if it is stuff that you need to get it back on the road and I end up having it lying around after breaking mine, and if it means another could stay on the road. Whereabouts in the country are you, I am sure that there are people around who would lend a hand for cups of tea and bacon sarnies. Without seeing what you mean about the chassis rail damage, it is difficult to know, but if it is just the outer sills have been dented a bit, it shouldn't mean a write-off - get some pics up so people can have a look
  13. VR6 | Moonlight Blue | Cardiff/Walsall (West Mids) Price: £2000 Description: It is a sad day - I am regretfully putting my VR up for sale! Due to a recently very complicated life, including a break-up, moving house and ending up dossing on friends/my parents sofa, I have come to the conclusion that I temporarily at least can't keep the VR - I know everyone always bangs on about a reluctant sale, but it really, really is! Anyway, enough of the sob story, have some facts: Moonlight Blue M(94) Reg VR6. Taxed till end of June '13 and Mot'd till July. 174,000 miles but you would never really guess it from the interior and the way it drives (mileage will rise as still in use until prised out of my hands) - Reasonably standard engine wise, and a few choice modifications (all reversible if required): Good Bits: - Strong engine - May have done reasonable mileage, but pulls like a train. Uses no oil/water at all. Standard other than a cone filter and Magnecor leads, and was rolling-roaded by a previous owner (I believe who is/was on here) at 209bhp. - There is a fair bit of service history with it, and according to the previous owner the timing chains have been done (no receipt, although I am prepared to believe it as no nasty noises etc) - Brand New Starter Motor fitted a couple of months ago - ELECTRIC RECAROS!! - If I am honest, one of the main reasons I bought it in the first place. Half leather electric Recaros (proper Corrado ones). From a left hooker, in good condition with only a little bit of wear (see pics) - They are probably worth virtually half the price of the car alone from a hunt around the net! First Aid kit & Warning Triangle still present. - Two keys still present, and a fully working, none-pain-in-the-bum full closure alarm/immobiliser! - KW V1 Inox Line coilovers - Not seized (I adjusted them recently) and a really nice ride for coilies. They are not wound down stupidly low, so plenty of scope to go up, down or stay the same dependant on your taste. - Cat Back Magnex Stainless Exhaust - Not too loud, but a perfect VR burble/roar when you give it some welly (driving through tunnels has become my new favourite pursuit!) - Full Samco Hose Kit - Oil, filter & plugs done this month - Magnacor HT leads - 312mm front brakes (TT/S3 calipers and discs) - New pads and Discs fitted this month. These really do make it stop like a much more modern car - best mod you can do to a VR in my humble opinion! Looks to me like back calipers have been refurbed at some point in relatively recent history (although prior to me) too. - Lupo GTI (I think, possibly TT if not) wiper arms and blades - Whether Lupo or TT, definitely the 'proper' job, with the proper arms, not just ebay flat blades on normal arms. - Relayed Headlights - Second to the brakes, must be the best mod to a VR (or any old VW!) as good as the Xenons on my old A3 in my opinion - All the electrics (except the sunroof - see below) work, seriously! on a Corrado! - spoiler works both on switch and automatically, one-touch electric windows work, electric mirrors work, lights work, heater works on all speeds, even the windscreen wipers work fairly well for a rado! - New Battery (4 year Guarantee) fitted about 2 months ago - Both front wheel bearings done in Dec/Jan (cant remember off the top of my head, but have receipts - one of the few jobs I let the garage do rather than me due to pain factor!) - New Aux belt and tensioner fitted in March - Has been unbelievably reliable given it is a 20 year old, handbuilt, V6 sports coupe! Until a month ago I was doing 150 miles a day in it virtually every day, and even now I am doing Mondays Walsall to Cardiff, business miles during the week then back to Walsall on a Friday, with no problems. - Is actually reasonably un-thirsty (for what it is) - I am getting real world 32/33mpg on the motorway if not driven hard. I am sure that there is probably more than that, but will add to the advert if I think of it. Bad Bits: - Slight power steering fluid leak on one pipe - easy enough to sort but not had the time - Sunroof very recently started playing up and wont currently open - Not had time to look at it/sort, but am guessing it is the usual corrado fun and games! - Gearchange is a bit sloppy - 174K miles has taken it's toll on the gearchange a touch. I am 99% sure it is wear on the shifter mechanism (on top of the box where the cables fix to) as my high mileage A3 with a similar setup went exactly the same - Again an easy fix with the new part, but frankly it has never bothered me too much to do. - Bodywork is a bit tatty - Overall looks good from 4 feet away, but there are a number of small dinks, stonechips etc - It is 20 years old and Dark Blue, so they tend to stand out, but frankly overall pretty presentable - Passenger side door is not blue! A previous owner scraped the passenger side along a low wall/post, wrecking the door, wing and taking some paint off the sill. Wing has been replaced with a moonlight blue one, but the door is light purple. In the flesh, it actually (believe it or not) isn't that noticeable, but it needs sorting really. I was going to get someone to blow it over the right colour, and touch in the paint on the sill at the same time. Equally you could replace the door with a moonlight blue one - see the pics to see what I mean. - Needs at least 2 new tyres (although they are only 16s, so not too pricey) Again that is all I can think of, but always prefer to be honest, so if I think of anything else, I will add it to the advert. Overall it is a good, usable corrado, that with some tidying up (like I planned to do before the world conspired against me) could be a really nice one, and you can still drive it around while you sort it all out! Is no longer on the BBS as in some of the photos, and is now back on the 5 spoke speedlines as in some of the other pictures. Can get extra pics if anyone wants (is a touch difficult as the ex-mrs got custody of the camera in the breakup, so would only be crappy phone pics!) but would really like any prospective buyer to come and look at it. I am aware that it is almost definitely worth a bit more in bits, but would rather not break a perfectly good car, plus my circumstances make that difficult at the minute, but if there are no takers, that is probably what I would have to do (with tears in my eyes!) Can be viewed in Cardiff City Centre in the week, and Walsall, West Mids most weekends Cheers for looking, any questions, just shout Dan
  14. Hi Mate - Certainly no issue in principle. Not a problem in the slightest to pack up ready for a courier. I dont mind having a look around for a courier, having said that I also wouldnt have a clue who is cheapest/best etc, so you may wish to sort teh courier yourself, then you know you have the deal that suits you etc?
  15. Found a picture of the 'rado on these before I took them off, so just to prove that they do look good with the shape, and the fitment etc is good: Dan
  16. So my heater blower motor has siezed (and it definitely is seized, not just one of the usual 'rado thermal fuse/control etc maladies) I have managed to rig up a spare heater blower motor I had sitting around, but it is not really a permanent fix, as it doesnt actually fit, only works on one speed, and the fan is not attached properly to it. At least I have temporarily reintroduced heat into my 75 mile commute, but still, at some point the complete lack of parts actually fitting together is going to result in something jamming/breaking free etc, so I would like to sort as quick as possible. Cash Waiting - I can pick up easily from Cardiff area, swindon area or West Midlands, or I am happy to pay for postage if anyone has one and is happy to sort out for me. Any offers?.............Please! :( Cheers in advance Dan
  17. I have a set of 4 + one spare (you will see what I mean in a minute) 16" Audi Speedlines, as fitted to A3 1.8T Sports. To be honest, I would not have considered these for a rado, but they were on my VR when I bought it, and actually they are ideal in fitment etc, and while not very 'scene' actually, I think they look pretty good on a rado, as the chunky look suits it. They have a couple of big advantages - They are pretty light, and they will clear even a 312mm conversion. Offsets etc are pretty spot on for a VR too. All (except the spare) have sopme curbing and general bits of damage, but are still acceptable, and would make great winters/spares/track wheels, or for a quick and easy refurb. Specs for all except the spare are 6.5x16 ET42 fitted with 205/45 16 tyres (please note a couple of the tyres are scrap - see pics) and there are 4 speedline centre caps. Ignore the username in the pics - they will be going on E38 as well, and I share a login with my brother on there, hence a different username. Wheel 1: Has a 205/45 16 Pirelli P-zero Nero fitted. Not a huge amount of life left, perhaps a couple of thousand miles Wheel 2: Has a Hankook Ventus V12 Evo fitted in 205/45 16 - Again, not too much life left but perhaps a couple of thousand miles Wheel 3: Fitted with a scrap Goodyear Eagle F1 Wheel 4: Again, Goodyear Eagle F1, but unfortunately fit only for the bin The 'Spare': The wheel itself is in excellent condition, having been the spare wheel in my A3, and only ever fitted a couple of times from the look of it. 7x16, ET 44.5, fitted with a very good condition Dunlop SP Sport in 205/55 16 flavour - Now obviously this is a different size to the others, and the tyre is a different profile, but it seems silly for it to not go to a happy new home with the other 4! I would like £120 ono for all 4, which seems pretty good to me (£24 a wheel!) Collection preferred, as you can inspect the wheels and tyres yourself and be happy with condition etc, and there is no risk of damage in transit, but I can (at your own risk) package up if yyou want to arrange your own courier. I am based just outside Swindon (just off J15 of the M4) but I am in Cardiff most weekdays, as that is where my office is, or could get them to the West Midlands by prior arrangement as I have family there. Any questions, just shout Cheers Dan
  18. My Mrs has a 225 Roadster - It is a nice car (even if being the roadster I look like a hairdresser driving it!) As a rule it seems fairly well built, however hers did get the dreaded 'dashpod failure' that lots seem to end up with. As the dashpod houses the immobiliser, it renders the car useless. A new dashpod is £900+VAT from Audi, and you have to have them reprogrammed too at extra cost! Luckily, being a common problem, there are companies on the internet that will refurb and guarantee their work - I used a company called BB Reman, and that solved it for less than £200 instead. It does obviously mean you cant use the car for a week or so while it is away being sorted. Other than that, we havent really had any problems - perfectly fine to work on for the home mechanic, although I will warn you that compared to a rado, every job is a pain due to the fact that everything is so tightly packaged into the engine bay, so you have to remove a lot of stuff to get at what you actually want to fix! Parts prices arent too bad in terms of anything I have had to buy - there is plenty of stuff around with the 1.8T engine, so plenty breaking for parts, and GSF/Euro are pretty good too. I would also recommend having a go in one - While the 225 is undoubtedly a rapid enough car, I dont think they feel as fast as you expect them to (albeit that you are actually travelling at quite a pace) I would particularly say compared to something older and more 'raw' like a 'rado, you may be dissapointed with the feeling of speed, if not the actual speed (if that makes sense).
  19. Definitely agree - you really can see the link when the Mk1 and Corrado are next to each other. I think that the Mk2 was a bit of a a hashed update of the Mk1 anyway - my understanding is that Guigaro offered a Mk2 design after designing the Mk1, but VW decided it was easier not to pay him, and so did an update in house. Given the Mk2 is essentially the Mk1 in a more '80s suit, I dont think they really tried very hard! The rear window line, spoiler (when down on the 'rado), stance and proportions are all very similar between a Mk1 and the corrado - particularly evident in side profile
