Finally got it back yesterday and my god does it run so much better, even better than before it started clicking. Total damage was £1408, but got a new clutch, gaskets and misc bits and bobs that were worn out replaced. So hopefully I wont have any more of these issues anytime soon! Thanks for all replies

I would like to take it to Stealth as I've heard a lot about them on this forum, but its my daily driver and Stealth is a 3 hour round trip from where I live. I'd have to get a trailer and driver to get it up there and back, so I don't think I have all that much choice. Current garage can get it back to me by Friday so I guess I'll have to just cross my fingers. Thanks for all the welcome messages, I'm sure I'll be going to Stealth at some point, when the car is slightly more mobile :-)

I do plan to learn about the car and do as much work as I can myself. But this it a much too big job for me at the moment as much of the engine needs to be taken apart, aswell as the gearbox and clutch. I'll just have to think of it as a investment I only have to do once....for this particular issue anyway. Waiting for a quote from Total VAG near me to see if they can do it any cheaper

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a while during the run up to getting my corrado but never had anything to post about. However 2 weeks ago today I finally got it :-) Lovely Flash Red VR6, only cost me £1690. It's a bit of a project with some small rust spots around but nothing major. Bargain! I'm 19 with 1 year NCB so insurance was a bit of a bitch but sooo worth it. No heres the bad news, on Sunday I started her after work to a lovely clicking sound, and somewhat loss of power on the way home. When home I put a topped up the oil started her again and this time it was a definite clattering. So off to the internet and soon enough I found out I probably needed a new timing chain. Already. So I've done the run of the garages in my very local area, 2 wouldn't take it because it was 'too much work' and I had to leave it at the third for fear of driving it anymore, at this point she was a very unhappy bunny and barely wanted to move. So they called me yesterday with a quote of just over a grand, including a new clutch. I'm guessing bills like this just keep coming with owning one of these beauties? :-)
