Hi, PM me if you have a flash red driver side front wing in good condition. Close to midlands as possible. Thanks

Anyone?
-
Would you sell the head separate? just head, cams and dizzy?
-
Also, im under the impression that i can run the standard dizzy cap and leads for the time being untill i get a mappable ignition system like the megajolt?

Hi all. Before the standard, use search its all covered comes up, i have read threads / articles on this conversion for days and days and just a few small things are left uncovered. So i have a 9a, the ke-jet is driving me mad with running issues and leaky metering heads (ive had 3 on it now) so im going down the bike carb route for the cost effectiveness of it all. So i know most of it but have these few questions to ask. 1) Nobody seems to run the coolant though the carbs, if i took the time to have pipes made up, could i put the cars coolant though them to reduce / eliminate icing? or would it cause problems? 2) What do i do with all the KE management? leave it all in and just disconnect the hall sender and the metering head? or strip the lot out bar coolant sensors? This is all i can think of now. The plan is to get an early KR head (for the larger valves im lead to belive), have it ported and gas flowed (stock cams for a while) and build the carb setup onto it in the hope to swap the heads and connect it all up in a day. The help would be really appreciated. Thanks

Corrado 2.0 16v (1992, 9a Engine code) Right where to start, I’ve owned my C for around 8 months now, no real issues, serviced twice (6k intervals) and had the belts done when I brought it. Last night when driving along as I shifted to 4th and put my foot back down (just cruising not thrashing) there was a very noticeable power loss. Took the car home, left it and had a read up. I read it could be the lift pump and the symptoms pointed that way so this morning I drove to the fuel station filled her full and began my drive to work. When the temp hit 90, after a mile or 2 the power loss came back. The power loss is all the way though the rev band. I have done the fuel filter, green temp sensor, general servicing, its also had plugs and leads, new rotor arm and cap not long back. What else could it be? Also if it helps figure the issue, when first starting from cold it will run ok for 30secs then start missing and hunting, when applying revs the misfire is very clear to hear. This all clears half a mile up the road with a little heat in her. Could be related? Help would be really appreciated, could do with fixing this tomorrow as I’m supposed to be moving house on Friday!

Right, so to cut a long story short, Ive had 2 metering heads on my C now and they both have sprung leaks from the bottom, i don't want to spend the 800 plus vat on a new one and I'm sick of fitting second hand ones that are obviously nearly dead anyway. Edit - Plus I'm sick of the KE-jetronic system, don't want to spend big bucks on stand alone management so using the ABF and motronic seems the way forwards. So the plan is to buy a full car, mk3 2.0 16v abf. So the engines swap in fairly easy i have managed to locate this information but have been left with a few other questions that i cannot find definitive answers for. The gearbox on my 9a feels like 1/2nd are becoming abit weak, the odd 2nd gear crunch at high rpms, so can i take the full abf engine and box and drop it straight in? Next question, not engine related but related to this. The gti mk3 will come with bigger brakes and a 5 x 100 setup, can i simply use the whole rear beam and swap that in? then just use the front hubs, calipers, carriers? or can i use the whole sub-frame from the mk3? Is there any other bits from the mk3 gti I could use to improve my C? All advice and help would be great, links to threads etc, i spend 3 hours searching last night to not find the exact awnsers i want. As I said, pretty happy with the conversion part, just the box and 5 stud I'm struggling to find the info on. Thanks!

Thanks very much mate. :thumbleft: Any info on pannel filters? worth it?
-
Thanks for the info mate. Was planning to buy a seccond head as im burning a fair bit of oil atm, original head on 167k! From what i hear after 100k they are usually wanting a rebuild. But my idea was to get a KR head and cam set up, have it took out to stage 1 or 2 and drop it on the 9a bottom end? But if ill be better keeping my 9a head and porting that and just using the intake cam ill go that way. Last 2 cars have been dervs, so pretty new in the petrol tuning game, well ive helped my old man with his 5.7 chevvy v8 but thats a different kettle of fish.

Looking to squeeze a little more power from my 9a without breaking the bank as i do plan to ABF or 1.8t her in the future (next year) - K and N or pipercross etc filters? i guess these do give a nice improvement in power with the fuel metering system on the 9a? more air flow? more fuel due to more metering lift? - I hear the Kr heads also give a nice improvment? is it as simple as people say? - Already have a stainless de-cat full system on the car when i brought it. - Any other suggestions? Also any real proven data on gains gained via different things? I have searched on here but lets be honest guys the search system isnt great, i get the same results with 4 different searches! haha. Any advice, links to other threads etc will be much apreciated.

Looking to swap for standards?

Firstly i appologise if my reply was taken in the wrong mannor, i did not mean to sound like a keyboard warrior i was just trying to pass on information. Turns out that it was the 0.3 bar sensor needed and what i had been told was utter crap. Im not one of those guys who poo-poo everyone and do not want to be seen in that mannor, so i hope this appology is accepted. So for anybody else with this problem who wants the definative awnser the guy perviously was correct its the 0.3 bar sensor (this should be brown).
-
Well from what ive been told the blue sensor fits into the head of the 9a, the grey is not for a 9a, and the black is 1.2-1.6 from factory. Also you will find you have no problem as your sensor will only buzz if the pressure drops below 0.1 bar, where-as the black 1.2-1.6 will buss below 1.2bar as it should. This is what ive been told via a guy whos been working on mk2's mk1's and rados for 20+ years.
-
Thanks mate, i have ordered one from heritage vw now as i have had 2 independent sources (classic water cooled vw specialists), both sent the picture and both returned to me i needed the 1.2 - 1.6 bar sensor. It would never be the blue sensor it would be one of the 2 blacks and it seems to be the higher value one. Not saying you dont know your stuff and you may be right and i may install the new one and it not work correctly, but for now ive followed the advice given. many thanks for your replys though.

Seems a subject that nobody knows about :( surely somebody must know. its a 9a btw.

Thanks, so where do i find its pressure range? On the threaded part? or on the bottom of the bolt head? as i have spoke to TPS and the part dosent even exist, ECP and GSF cant help either. All i can find is.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-53I-2-0-1-16-1-55-BAR-Intermotor-Oil-Pressure-Switch-Gauge-Sensor-/350624455819?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item51a2d89c8b http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-53I-2-0-0-20-0-40-BAR-Intermotor-Oil-Pressure-Switch-Gauge-Sensor-/330813306201?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item4d06027559 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-53I-2-0-0-15-0-43-BAR-Intermotor-Oil-Pressure-Switch-Gauge-Sensor-/230867722887?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item35c0c9e287 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrado-53I-2-0-1-53-1-93-BAR-Intermotor-Oil-Pressure-Switch-Gauge-Sensor-/230867726059?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item35c0c9eeeb 2 are black and others are white and blue. So i assume its one of the black ones but the pressure difference is 1 bar. Also another thing that leads me to disagree with you saying its low pressure is the amount of oil that comes out of it when the engine is running, not fountains but more than half a bar in my opinion, i may be wrong.
-
Hi all, I have sprung an oil leak from one of the sensors ontop of the oil filter housing. I assume this is an oil pressure sensor. I have looked everywhere and cant locate one of these other than ebay, where the 2options for a "black" sensor are 0.15-0.5 bar or 1.16-1.5 bar. Can anybody give me the definitive answer to which one i need? Picture shows sensor arrowed. Thanks
