  1. You certainly were thrown in at the deep end but all is well now! I'm quite local to you as it goes, Im new on here and noticing a lot of users in the local area. Im in Retford (just the other side of Worksop) edit: there is a busy meet in Sheffield run by lowdownvw.com btw
  2. As you say you have tried the obvious so you have probably tried this but when my mk2 scirocco did this I jacked it up as high as poss (supported it safely of course) and them used a torch (to see) and the bar from my jack (to prod/bang etc) and just basically fished around until I found the catch and released it manually that way. It took ages though and thats on a car with more space; I can't in reality comment whether it would work with a rado as I am new to them too so Im not as up on the locations of parts/access. Hope you get it sorted; probably as an absolute last chance saloon the only option would be to cut the bonnet , take sections out from the area near the catch until you have access to pry it open and then obviously replace the bonnet....
  3. Welcome, I'm new too and local to you being in Retford so only about half an hour away!
  4. a man after my own heart! I too have a Scirocco which is undergoing work to become somewhat 'balls out' & have just picked up a Corrado for daily duties... good times!
  5. Hi everyone, I'm Mikey. I've been into the veedub scene for as long as I can remember as my parents were before me and over the past 12/13 years I've owned over 100 of them! But this is my first corrado (technically, as my gf had one briefly when we first met but i never had much to do with that one). I've ended up with this one quite by accident actually although I've always fancied one... I happen to own one of VW's 'other' coupe's... a MK2 Scirocco Scala 1.8i (8v) which is my baby; unfortunately in my wisdom I have managed to bend a valve in the Scirocco so it's now off the road. My original plan had been to replace the top end quickly with one from the forums or ebay but I have other plans now (16v ABF, cage, buckets etc). So anyway, without my Scirocco I needed a car quickly for getting to work etc and I set about looking for a 'cheap car' in actual fact I was after anything with tax and test and not planning on buying another VW particularly (although a dub is always preferable) and then this Corrado 1.8 16v cropped up for the right money (no tax unfortunately!) so I plumped for it. I gave £475 and tbh it shows as she is no beauty queen... however mechanically she is spot on and that to me is the main thing. My initial plans had been to just use her but she is so much fun to drive that I am now planning to tidy her up and keep her as my daily and go balls out with the Scirocco... sounds like a plan in my book, although time is of a premium for me as I also have a T25 camper project and a MK2 polo breadvan project (as you do!) My girlfriend has a little mk4 polo 1.6 8v (surprisingly nippy) too so I definately have too many cars and parts of cars cluttering my life but thats the way I like it! haha! Anyway, pics (which do the paintwork no end of justice)... please excuse the lack of cleanliness! Oh andm one last thing, the guy I bought this off says that he bought it off someone on this forum so if anyone has any history/info for this car that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.... and a cheeky one of my scirocco: Peace!
  6. Im not sure to be honest, as I said I dont know loads about rado's as this is my first. I'll get pics up and we'll go from there. Im guessing someone more experienced can help me out!
  7. Hi there, I've just picked up a 16v Rado, quite by accident actually. I'm a dubber through and through (that bits not an accident) but since I recently bent a valve in my Scirocco I needed a cheap car quickly for getting about and this Rado cropped up at the right time and for the right money. She is no beauty queen it has to be said and requires a fair bit of tidying up but the mechanicals are good and she is basically solid (I'll upload pics to a proper thread later)... anyway I need a couple of bits to get the ball rolling with the general tidying up! PASSENGER SIDE FRONT INDICATOR LENS (CLEAR) FRONT SPLITTER DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE + IF POSSIBLE A DRAGON GREEN WING MIRROR (PASSENGER SIDE) - I'm assuming the car is dragon green here as thats what it looks like to me and it's the correct era for dragon green but this is my first Rado so not sure what they did colour wise. ALSO JUST IN CASE ANYONE HAS THEM, THE GUY THREW IN A SET OF HALF DECENT 16" ALLOYS BUT THE TYRES ARE SHOT SO IF ANYONE HAPPENS TO HAVE 3 X 195/45/R16 TYRES (OR SIMILAR) THEN LET ME KNOW. I'm based in Retford, Notts but I can obviously pay for postage on the smaller parts etc. cheers
