Who wants to 4WD their Corrado: Full Haldex 4wd set up! Bargain Price
VRTRIZZ replied to rado-steve's topic in Parts for Sale
Man, if you weren't so far away! Ha -
Another pic of the profile matching, wasn't enough space on the last post.

Little update, done a little profile matching between the manifold and the exhaust housing, a bit anal but why not. The head has been off and valve stem seal's have been changed. Cleaned both head and block faces then put on the decomp plate and refitted and torqued down head. Next I put the cams and sprockets back in and timed it up. Gave the cam cover a quick paint and and lay it on top for now. Still waiting on a replacement chain guide as mine is Broken, then I'll get the timing cover back on. Profile matching Let the excess oil drain out Stripped the head Gave it all a good clean and inspection Spacer plate I got from Germany with multi layer gaskets Built head back up Cleaned up block face Got a bit excited and bolted on my turbo and short runner to see what kind of room I have. I don't have a lot of room between the bulkhead and snail, plus no room for compressor inlet pipe because of servo reservoir. Thought about swivelling turbo up a little but have no bonnet clearance. Waiting on exhaust parts to arrive now.

When I put my decomp plate over this oil way seal on the block face, do I need to put something on the head side to seal?? Something like a fibre washer?

Nice car lad.

Ok sorry, I didn't mean not special, just that it's been done by many. Still absolutely choking to get it running and I've just started haha.
-
Cheers, I'm no expert by any means haha, but do enjoy it, which is most important. Am sure I'll need plenty of help.

Machined myself a 3" v-band flange and machined the exhaust housing so it locates.

Ok so thought I might as well start writing my build thread for the Rado. I know a boosted VR6 engine isn't anything new or special these days so not sure how much interest this will generate. May as well share my experience. First thing I wanted to do was get the Rado tested, just so there wasn't any hassle of getting the car through the test after the conversion. Plus means it's legal to go out and map it when I'm at that stage. She passedwith a advisory on a foosty clutch pipe. So we're good to go. Not really got much done. Time isn't on my side with work, a house and a seven month old. My plan is to change the valve stem seals when head is of to put on de-comp plate and change shells at same time. Just the cam sprockets to take off and head bolts to undo then whip her off.

Welcome lad.

Haha yeah I love it!! Done a 13.8 quarter mile, which isn't to bad. Would love to get into the 12's with the Rado.
-
Welcome Simone! This sounds great! Can't wait to see it.
-
Proper car!! Automatic though!

Yeah, my love for the 205 hog is very strong. It's the only French car I would own! I've had three, the 1.6, 1.9 with a few mods and the white one you can see. It's got the 306 gti6 engine in it, that I then turboed. Dyno print outs at 236hp. Goes well for a wee car! The Rado is clearly a better car and the love is growing stronger every time I lay my eyes on her haha.
-
Haha yeah but think I'll continue filling it with any paperwork for the Rado. Will be interesting to see what I will have spent at the end of the turbo project. Ford frozen white, it's solid. It's a 2k direct gloss, no need for clear coat!

That's what the rozzer's said to me as I sat in the back of there wagon for speeding! Still didn't get me off the hook haha
-
The bible that the previous owner had for the car. Everything from m.o.t certificates to lightbulb receipts.
-
Thanks Hairyarse, might spot repair the rust bubbles for now. Want to paint it frozen white, the same colour I painted my 205. Anything else white looks cream next to it haha.
-
Ok, well the Rado is booked in for a test on the third haha. Hopefully she'll pass. Away to pull the wheels off and service the brakes and look for anything else for the test.
-
Your in Aberdeen yeah? Ok nice one, will check it out. Are there much meets up this neck of the woods?
-
Cheers guys, I live beside Laurencekirk between Aberdeen and Dundee.

Corroletta?! Corrado/Golf/Jetta hybrid not as bad as it sounds!
VRTRIZZ replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
Backside is nice but it's just a golf to look at square on. -
Hi my name is Garry, I'm from and live in the north east of Scotland. This is the first thread I have written, in fact this is the first forum I have joined. I am not a mechanic but like to tinker with things. I had wanted a Corrado for a long time before Buying my one in December of 2012. I bought it from a friend who bought it from a lad who really looked after it. It turns out he had taken it to bits to change the heater matrix but unfortunately was unable or just gave up on putting it back together again. Never done one but it dose look a bit daunting. Anyway due to the car being in the state it was he got it pretty cheap, put it together and put it in storage. I bought it for £1500, tested it and ran it for a year. I love the way these cars drive and how comfortable they are. It has alway had to be the VR6 motor after hearing one rip away when I was a youngster. I remember thinking what the hell has he put in that thing. Soon found out it was the VR motor. As you can see the car needs a bit of loving. There's a few bubbles, stone chips and wheels could be doing with a refurbish. The inside, apart from needing a good clean and Hoover, is in good condition. The owner before my friend stitched seat covers to the seats! Haha. Unfortunately there are holes in the dash where someone has had a mobile phone holder or something alike. My plans for the car are to look over and do any M.O.T repairs then get it tested. Once tested I intend on turboing it. I plan on writing a build thread when doing so. She will be getting painted to. Here are a few pics of the car. There not very good but will put up better ones. Unfortunately the photos on my go pro were to big. Please let me know if photos have worked, thanks. Thanks for looking.
