Thanks for that. How do i rectify if the engine is running rich? I have noticed massive difference in economy and also can smell unburned petrol when i get out of the car. As for the timing issue, is that something that i'll need to go to the dealers for, or can I do a DIY job?

Ok guys, I finally got round to replacing the lambda and the car still keeps cutting out, virtually everytime i dip clutch for any length of time. It also seems to be really chucking out loads of black smoke when i accelerate hard (the times when it decides to pull) cos other times it takes ages to kick in. Anybody got any other ideas on what i can do? Its just been serviced, and i have replaced both temp sensors and the lambda. Could it be a timing problem?

Car fraud scam-FAO of all ppl trying/thinking of selling car
n8047035 replied to n8047035's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks for the replies guys. jimsG60- I would not usually be so daft and at least i didnt get stung, but i am desperate to sell my car. In an ideal world id love to keep her, but ill health and haveing no job means that it cant be done and the offer was pretty tempting. Im not into scaring people, and it was only after some vast searching on google that i decided to post this information. Does anybody know who i can contact about this scam as i have some mobile numbers and email addresses that may be usuful for any people investigating the scam. -
Hello all, I thought that i would let you guys hera about this just in case you are trying to sell your car. I advertised my C for sale a few weeks ago and recieved an email off some guy wanting to buy it. The price he offered was reasonable and so i accepted. He said that his business associatein the UK would send me a cheque/bankers draft and that once I recieved it, I was to take my cut for the car and then forward the rest onto the shipping agent through Western union so they could collect the car and ship it to him. I thought this was all ok until yesterday, when i recieved a call from his associate in the UK and some African/Nigerian guy (sorry if this offends anyone) was asking for my bank detials so he could transfer money into my account. Then he started asking if i could get a hold of a HSBC account or bank of Scotland account rather than my Barclays account and i was like no, what difference does that make. Obviously i was like 'no way' and said send a cheque to my address, even though he was adament that it would be quicker for the former method. Anyway, i refused and was fuming because i have turned down several legitamte offers for this offer, so i looked up some stuff on google and i found the following: Basically, sellers of collector cars recieve emails saying that they have a buyer in a different country and they do as described above. However, what i found out was that the cheque actually usually clears and then people pay the shipping agent through Western Union (which isnt a safe way of transferring money) and also ship the car. However, the cheque is later found to be fraudulent and is cancelled by the bank so the individual loses some of their own money and their car. Check out: http://www.robertprice.co.uk/robblog/ar ... raud.shtml I just thought i would share this with you all and just tobe vigilant. Obviously you all would probably not be as stupid as me but i was really chuffed to get an offer because I am desperate to sell my car. Luckily, I didnt get too involved and always check the situation out fully before committing to anything, so i still have my C and havent lost any money, but from what i gather from various sites others havent been so lucky.

hi guys, I unclipped the probe this evening and went for a drive. The car kept on cutting out as when the probe was plugged in, but probably slightly more often. I take it that means that the problem isnt due to my lambda? Can anybody shed any light onto the situation. I did notice when i unclipped the probe, that there wasnt a wire running from the black clip and bolted onto the bracket, whereas the replacement one i have has this. Could this be the problem?

thanks guys, thats really helpful. I shall get to that asap. Much appreciated 8) Amrik

Hello all, Ive just got hold of my new lambda sensor and need to fit. I just had a look under my bonnet, and completely a complete novice, i didnt want to do any damage. How do i go about removing the old one and replacing it with the new one? I saw the black clip/plug thingy with the wires coming from it, but where does the rest of the probe lie? Also, ive seen some threads on here about an O2 sensor, where do i locate that? Its just i need to get my car running properly again and not stalling everytime i pull up to a junction! Quick replies would be appreciated so i can get to it asap! Many thanks

hello all, Where abouts do i locate the lambda sensor cos i need to check mine out. I know this is a really dumb question but i need to locate it so that i can unplug it and see if it makes any difference to the running of my car. Thanks Amrik
-
thanks for the replies guys. Im totally gutted, my pride and joys seems to be falling to bits in front of my eye, if only i had the money/know how to repair it all. Will check the mechanism etc tommorrow now, but any body know how much a new one will cost roughly? My car is a G60, and the rev counter is still wroking. Checked all the fuses the other day and they were all in tact. Where can i get that bit of tubing (3.5" long) to fit back into the mechanism?
-
oh, thats a good call. The rear washer doesnt work! DAMN! Can that be repaired easily while im at it?
-
ok people, here come the pictures. Hopefully you guys can help me out with getting the spoiler sorted. I would like to feel how my corrado feels at speed with a spoiler again please.
-
finally got round to checking out the spoiler mechanism, and discovered that there was a loose bit of tubing  (quite narrow, and white'ish in colour with a black plastic attachment at the end and obviously meant to be filled with something). Anyway, the black plastic attachment clearly attached to the back of the motor mechanism but had snapped away from it. Does this mean that i need an entirely new mechanism or can the black plastic tip simply be replaced and then re plugged back into the back. I hope this makes sense. I will hopefully take a couple of pictures after lunch.

Hey guys, Ive checked all my fuses and they all in tact, but the spoiler still not working (manually or automatic). Press the switch and can hear a 'wirring' noise as if its tring to activate spoiler, but no joy. Next option please

where abouts do i locate the lambda sensor? Just so i can unplug it and test it that way. If it is knackered then has anybody got any websites etc where i can order one (part number would be handy). Many thanks Amrik
-
Thanks SteveMac, Thats just the kind of reply i have been looking for. I will get that sorted tommorrow hopefully. Anybody know where i can get those O rings and Ecu vac hose from (part numbers would be helpful)? As for the charger, i havent had it rebuilt since ive had it (just over 2years) and im not sure if guy before me had it serviced. Must add that to my list of must do's Thanks for the help guys
-
thats wat mine (G60)is doing and the CAT 1s smelling bad, so guess unburned petrol is reaching it. What could be problem?
-
Ive sorted the sensors and managed to re-use the old O rings. Hopefully sort my problem, although upon Revving the engine, after removing my foot from the pedal, the revs drop below idling and the lights flicker on (battery) and then it stabilises. Any ideas what that could be?
-
hello all, Ive just recieved the parts from GSF, but im not sure they're the right ones. They are black and blues 2pin sensors with a metal cap top thingy (see pics)but there is no O ring and definately no where to attach any wiring that should be connected. I used the part numbers provided by stevemac and they are the same ones but im not sure if they are right.

cheers guys, after reading the replies i too discovered those bloody screws in the grab handle. Anyway, got off the card and realised that the reason why my door handle aint working is because a piece has snapped off the mechanism.DAMN! Then to top it all off, i had bought a rubber seal/slider for the bottom of the passenger window. Anyway, the guy who sold it to me has sent me the wrong one and now im fuming. cant get a hold of him!
-
Hello all, im trying to replace my old broken handle on the passenger door but am having difficulty removing the inner door card. Ive unscrewed the lil screws and unclipped it from bottom but am having difficulty pulling card off. Is there anything else i need to unclip?
-
thanks guys. Ive just ordered the parts, so hopefully get that sorted asap
-
anybody got anymore helpful tips. Should i go for changin these sensors cos the cutting out is getting really bad, or could it be something else? Ive searched the forum but cant seem to find much
-
thanks very much, Ill look into that and hopefully it can guide me through the process too.
