Replacing rear bumpstops

Recommended Posts

On the subject of GSF, if regional outlets get rewards for service etc, make a note of the Ipswich branch. They have always been superb with my orders and are friendly and helpful

Cheers Kev, I'll pass your comments on to our company owner (Stan) when I meet with him later this week

It's always good to get feedback from customers, wether that be good or bad 8)

I'll second that, the guy in there on Sat was great, found what I wanted straight away, re-organised half the warehouse to find the part Supercharged had ordered in and had been put in the wrong place and was just bloomin nice too.

The woman that tried served me earlier in the morning and couldn't find the (same) part number I needed on the system was pretty useless though

Yeah, there always friendly and sort me out but the amount of times I order stuff and it goes missing and gets re-ordered  - thats why I asked him to look again, I knew they were back there somehwhere!

She is usually ok and fairly knowledgable, made me laugh tho, you go in and ask for a part number that they say they can't match on there system, I bring the mount with me, guy takes it and finds something that looks similar, opens the bag and its got the same fecking VAG part number written on it as mine  Result for you tho Dom, £9 better than £30!

Aye, it did seem a bit chaotic in there  and yeah score on the price of the mount, shame about the price of the labour to fit it :( Oh well, at least it's on now :)

Once I get the fuel pump in I need to take the C out for a nice drive and get the new gearbox oil flowing through the meshes too.

MInd you, the staff were still recovering from a visit from the Haywire and his 'exhaustive' purchasing... apparently they had to do a stock take after he left and 3 of them had to have therapy...

 Good point. Kev did seem rather too excited about that exhaust. It was the industrial size tub of Vaseline next to it that was particularly worrying though.

Bump stop is the wrong term. They are actually spring "assistors" and are supposed to be ridden on permanenty. You have to trim them the ride height (ie 35mm) drop though, otherwise their effect is too pronounced.

When I had my Polo  lowered 45mil the bump stops stayed standard length at the rear (113.5ml). Would 45mil be a bit too much to cut them by? At least I now know why it sits so stupidly high at the rear!

If you've removed 45mil from the ride height, it's a good idea to remove 45mil from the bump stops too. It'll certainly make it ride a lot better ;)

Although you'll lose the bad-ass ass-in-the-air look that mine has 8)

LOL, you jesters Dinkus and Supercharged! I was well chuffed with GSF last week. They ordered my exhaust in next day and it was well wrapped. And being one piece, the chap helped me put it in the car too. Jolly decent on him

Neil, yes you will need to cut the bumpstop down the same effective drop as the spring. Take 40mm out of them and see how you get on with that.

High is certainly not cool, do you still need a step ladder to look inside your boot dinkus? :D
